Maybe I'm just weird or something, but I actually never like the sound all these videos get when they throw an SM57 in front of the amp. It sounds all dry and trebly, and harsh, and most amps end up sounding the same. But when the mic picks up the amp, people talking, and all the surroundings, I can actually compensate for what it'd really sound like in person more easily. Personally, I prefer the sounds in this demo over most of the others I've seen, for what it's worth.
you could help everyone and do a good job for us all to hear, you should also refrain from the obscenities, You could also get of your backside, go to a store and try one.
@fidothree You want to compare it to an Orange Thunderverb 50? That seems like a kind of silly comparison. For $300, this micro head is a cool piece of kit, don't get me wrong, but comparing it with a $2,300 professional tube head is ludicrous.
sorry for the late reply. this is a 15 watt all tube amp so it is a little bit louder than the 30w cube as maufonseca17 said. however you would need a 30w all tube to compete with acoustic drums as a general rule of thumb. but there are other options for making this amp louder. such as micing it up and runing it through a PA or runing it into a poweramp and then into a speaker box.
@codybell87 it has a ibanez tube screamer circuit built into it so you get a really nice rich overdrive. it will cover anything from a bb king ish tone to probably a guns and roses sweet child of mine type overdrive. thats an idea of the range of gain on the distortion channel.
@maufonseca17 If you havnt been answered yet , because it valve yes it should be louder if not the same but it will have much more warmth , so it might feel louder , if you want to be louder than drums a 4x12 cab is better :) i still have a cube 30 and compared to my vox its bitty and way to bright :)
@andrewpmast It has a bit more headroom than the Blues Junior. i think thats because it is running through a cabinet with a celstion 70-80 in it which is rated at 80w. the Junior has an eminence 50w speaker, so the Celestion speaker can be worked a bit harder before it starts to break up. otherwise it runs practically the same tube setup in terms of the power stage. its a fantastic little studio or bedroom amp but could easily be used for gigging if you mic it up.
This is an awesome amp. The 5 watt mode is great for bedroom and still has the nice tube sound. It has a lot of bottom end still. At 15 watts the amp is quite loud with real depth. Got to love the built in TS808.

Playing guitar is suppose to attract chicks,
not chase them away. If he picked up
his first guitar less than 2 months before
that tasteless, out of time, tempo wandering,
drab, botched attempt of music, then
please forgive me.

What is with anyone, let alone a music store doing demo'ing amps without putting a mic in front of the speaker? Totally lame-come on.

How do you review an amp with out describing the settings you are altering and with one lick only?

@luigiperso I don't get it either. A music store that can't throw a mic in front of an amp? Ridic. Sounds like shit.

I'm not convinced!
Why the hell isn't ANYBODY plugging that thing into a REAL speaker cabinet????
That way we could judge the performance of this little guy!
I suggest AT LEAST a good 2x12"

Seen a lot of demos of this amp, not feelin it at all.

@conor30000 Go play one at a music shop before you make a decision, and do yourself a favor - demo it through a 4x12. Trust me.

@GALAXYGUITARS u do have a good point but i use a 25w fender and it works just fine. How is the amp anyways? distortion wise?

In this Video the amp is at about 8 if that helps with gauging how much headroom it has.
