When you say "god is love", there is a difference betwee "Love" and "god". Love is love for anyone and anything, love does not differentiate. God is love for others like you, who have the same beliefs, same color, same sexual orientation... god is "conditional love".

He is saying in his opinion as it stands there is not suffient evidence to prove a higher being, and being a normal rational person he is allowed to express conviction at what he belives to be true (we all do the same). He does state the bad things that beliving in a deity can cause and these are based on evidence he ecepts and reiterates, some of it is from observation.

delahunty always concentrates on the "bad" part of the bible. like mosaic law. its like saying "no. the u.s. is horrible because it had slavery and diminished women(legally) in the past(not anymore) therefor anything else about it is bad.

He is saying in his opinion as it stands there is not suffient evidence to prove a higher being, and being a normal rational person he is allowed to express conviction at what he belives to be true (we all do the same). He does state the bad things that beliving in a deity can cause and these are based on evidence he ecepts and reiterates, some of it is from observation.

Even if there was a God he has mad it clear that he would stay with his stant, (the seperation of church and state) because I think he belives religion still would still restrict a civilision even if there is a God on their side.

I am an agnostic, I think this guy needs to be a little more open minded, and all athiests need to be a little more open minded. Wouldn't it be nice to be believe in something intangible that makes you feel good on your death bed knowing life might not in fact be %100 over. After all without knowing and having the answers to absolutly everything how can we be so sure on anything.

@lion95805 You are taking the notion of a pantheistic god and then infusing all the other personalities of gods into it and then stating that it is human point of view that changes gods shape between cultures but essentially it is the same thing. This, in my view, is a pointless exercise with no more or less evidence than any other. A cute comfortable view that accepts all belief systems but ignores the harms they cause.

Anyway, Pascal’s wager is a fools bet, because if your god is real as you say, surely it would be able to see thru the insincerity of any such gambit. Most religious folk believe that their God is the one and only and that all other gods are made up or evil inspired.
