I like this song but I don't like how Carrie Underwood has decided to sing it. She doesn't have a clue on how certain verses should be sung. She has taken a beautiful song & ruined it. This song should be sung like the Christmas Hymn it is. The only group to give this beautiful song an upbeat melody is 'The Carpenters' If anyone is upset with my comments should listen to the Carpenters version & then listen to Carrie's version to appreciate which one is better - for me it is Karen Carpenter.

this seems very reserved compared to whitneys version. its good, but whitney pretty much owns this song. this performance has a polished and over rehearsed feel to it with not much of a seasoned vocalist's take on the execution of the song. check out whitney's and vanessa's aproach to the song and compare to this one and hear for yourself. that being said, i do think carrie is probably the more better sounding of any of the idol winners and her looks dont hurt either.
