you should not put on hits like the janssen hit on kaberle as a hard hit, because anyone can make a hard hit when it is a cheap shot. That is why Janssen got 5 games.

I didn't see that game, but jannsen's hit was put under review by the board and deemed as an illegal intention hit to injure.

Jannsen's hit on Kaberle was deemed late and illegal by the league and he was given a 5 game suspension for the hit. Of that I am certain, I am not certain whether he was given a penalty for the hit, although he should have.

Jannsen got suspended because Kaberle got hurt on the play. That's why there was no penalty called - it was a clean hit. It was not late: 1 second after Kaberle released the puck. I guess you could call a penalty because Kaberle helicoptered into the boards and Janssen has to be responsable for that, but he definitely wasn't trying to hurt him.

I think this was the same year Chris Pronger delivered head shots in successive games in the playoffs, and he only got one game. What a joke.
