From this promo you can see the major difference between family guy then and now, I wish they would just stop making new episodes for it, they are unfunny and very repetitive..
@frymahhide1982 It used to be like this during the first 3 seasons, after that it was decent, but ever since this stupid new HD thing all the Animation Domination shows have converted to that and changed the animation ><
I remember accidentally watching this on FOX when i was one year old. because no one was in the room to change the channel, and parental block was off. now, as of today, i watch it pretty much every night on Adult Swim. this is the last cartoon to give me a laugh sense Looney Tunes.

When family guy first came out on Fox, it debuted to so-so ratings because it was before The X-Files, which was Fox's highest rated TV show at the time. It soon became a cult favorite among the college set, and was saved from cancellation twice due to rising DVD sales and reruns on Adult Swim (where they run it uncut).
On the DVD they admit inconsistencies, like the scene where Peter looks like he's shrinking when he sings Give Up the Toad. Now the animation is a lot better and looks polished, but the writing isn't as funny.
I didn't like Family Guy at first and I'm a sucker for most animation. However, I got a DVD of theirs on a rainy weekend and was hooked. Thing was that was when they were canceled. Then they triumphantly returned about 3 months later. I think that Family Guy is a close second to South Park when it comes to being funny.
That said, American Dad is atrociously bad and I have a feeling that the Cleveland show isn't going to be much better in the long run. Time will tell.
@bowlingballout I agre, I hated the 1st 2 seasons because of the way it was drawn, it looked like The Simpsons when they 1st came on. But MY WORD, Family Guy is the best cartoon ever!
Wow, after having to look at ugly stiff characters and cheap cutaway jokes for so long I never would have known that this show had GOOD animation when it first started. If the show kept looking like this maybe I would have liked watching it more.

Family Guy characters are in the Boston area. Yet they cheer for the Rangers against the Bruins? EPIC FAIL. Still, LETS GO RANGERS

Wow, the animation here actually looks rather fluid. Wonder why they beame all stiff in the actual show?

Lol the Griffins like the Rangers? Since they live in Rhode Island you'd figure they like the Bruins.

@bowlingballout American dad was never good, and the clevland show....god its just aweful...just trying to make family guy remakes.

@LtLman22 The "style / format" that Family Guy used, that the Cleavland Show uses and american Dad is growing very stale, IMO.
