I think that's the intent. This game is all kinds of "Serious" playfulness. They're a satire. That's why I love it. It's not afraid to stretch it's E for Everybody rating. Swear words, nudity, and all. Amongst it's extremely fun gameplay and awesome and not really that cheesy (They mock cheesyness, which is great) story line. The music is by far one of the greatest.

Game designers really need to focus on music, look at the greatest. Mario, zelda, halo, all had amazing music.

Mario games have charm but paper Mario TTYD is on a whole different level in my opinion, I'd recommend it to any gamer even if they find Mario to be overrated and childish I'd still say 100% that they should play this one :) other than smb3 and super Mario world this one is my favourite.

The four boxes are the resting places of the four heroes who originally defeated the Shadow Queen, before she was sealed away. She put a curse on them that they would turn into boxes and lose their sanity whenever they dropped the Crystal Star they had taken from her.

The curses are shit, they actually help you. XD

I have found out a secret about the black curse boxes!!!!! First of all if you don't belive what i'm tipping is true than when playing the game, in east rougeport, on a roof is a story teller tht tells a story about the thousand year door and four heros that banished the monster before! Now the story said that the four heros were cursed so that they would be sealed away in some sort of box. when they were sealed away, the four spots they were sealed at are where the four curse boxes are! odd huh
