My single biggest problem in IL-2 wasn't the difficulty of gunnery or maneuvering or anything of the sort. It was the stalls and spins. I never quite got the hang of airplanes going into a spin or stall every time I pulled the joystick to move, and having every single little move had to be so carefully calculated. It was also a problem since I really didn't know much about it. Complex engine management might be fun to learn, but I've made the decision to turn off stalls and spins.

or google "cps" as in "casual pilots squadron" (that is the only one i can name r8 now, because i read a post about them @ the sas)

Cool channel, Dude. Hey, what kind of tactics would you recommend for the P-38? It is handles like a sloppy -- well ya know -- so I'm wondering what to do with it. Sugggestions?

@OnThePatrol depends on the theatre. early pacific, for realism, mount as many guns as possible and try boom-and-zoom and be gone, don't start turning w/ the zeros. use ur superior engine power. europe, you may have chances against emils, less against gustavs, fw190 are tough, me109 a little easier. less guns as you need the range (if you are protecting the big buddys), diving on them should do the trick. beware of the hun in the sun!

What is the best new comer plane since I just started playing the game.

@pvtsoap262 depends on what u want to do. i learnt flying on the cessna in ms fs5 but i guess it is not in il2 ;)

srsly, maybe try a p-38 if u want to shoot planes (2 props => no torque, plus it has lots of guns). if u want to fly larger planes use the tante ju, the ju-52. that one almost flies itself.

for single-engined fighter, i'd suggest one of the japanese ones, they are famous for their handling. bad thing is they basically have no punch in their guns.

@pdittrich well im playing the USN Missions right now and I'm not a big fan of the F4F or the FM-2 but I can still shoot aircraft down with them. I tried the P-51D Mustang and it was a great plane I'll try that more often.

@Ninjastripy I have no clue what a kikka is. the only things carrying "jap marks" are 2 me262 which the qmb thought were japanese not german. don't ask me why, it just did.

I know there are ways of cheating (not that I know, I wish), and I'm not saying all my opponents blasting me out of the sky are, but it seems too many enemies have no problem gaining on me even when I'm 100% throttle & whatever water injection/methanol-water capabilities the palne has, it's never fast enough for the bad asses that catch me.

@kolbpilot There's something that's called "energy", you can have the best plane in the world, but if the guy is comming with a dive or with a lot of energy, you are gone for it, your only hope is scissoring. And, running on 110% throttle all time in case you do that... is not a good tactical choice, you burn too much fuel and the plane gets little more performance.

@EoWNiKo I know all about the 'energy game'' so to speak. However, I don't know if I'm using all the latest gear as these other guys online. I don't have that camera thingy on the head, & I also don't have any voice communication. I just use the mouse for 360 degree looking. I enjoy the game a lot but don't know if the all the planes are calibrated correctly. Nothing should be able to out dive a P 47.

@kolbpilot Well, i don't have any of those devices either, only a mic, but the key for flying around is getting into a squad in case you already know everything you need to fly correctly... And yes, there are some overpowered and underpowered planes in the game... they needed to keep it balanced... let's fly sometime, tag is =AN.a=NIKO now, search in hyperlobby.

I've been playing Il2 '46 for about 2 yrs. & finally got on line a few days ago to see what that's about. And, mixed reviews. On one hand I find these furballs to be somewhat unrealistic. I've had a few 'kills' here & there, along with some nice deflection shooting. But, I find I'm constantly being outran & gunned down. In real life, the P47 had no equal when it came to a dive. No equal. Yet in the game, a Zero or a Yak will reel me in a give me the business. Come on.
