i just bought a 1992 f250 5.8 automatic when i first start it runs at a higher rpm to warm up but when it dose this the check engine light comes on. is this somethin i should look into or is it normal the truck only has 95000 miles on it??
I find this funny but also confusing. One of your comments you said this truck is close to your "dream truck"? Were you serious or being funny/sarcastic? Seriously, if that really is your dream car I'd hate to see your dream house.. LOL If you wanted a nice truck, why not sell the honda and buy a truck from this decade? Or at least one in better condition! If the Honda was yours but you were unhappy with it, you could have gotten enough out of it to buy you a much better truck than that one
@unity25064b it was a pretty serious comment. However, my dream truck would be a 1992ish F350 diesel, crew cab, long bed single rear wheel (not a dually) that has been fully restored or is in mint condition. This is the same body style and is a pretty similar truck. Therefor it is as close to my dream truck as I am going to get for a while. For a house I want a nice, decent sixed farm house and have a giant shop and a lot of land to do what ever I want on. Haha.
This might seem like an obvious question but you didn't really address it. WHY IN GOD'S NAME would you give up a 2007 Honda CR-V for that? You had a very nice and dependable vehicle. I would understand the need for a truck like that if you were hauling big loads or towing but otherwise, why? That truck looks horrible and needs thousands of dollars worth of work to make it just look nice, not to mention the mechanical problems. So..why? LOL "I'll take that 89 escort over the 05 lexus?" wtf?
@macysmercedes haha, that is how you feel. The truck runs great and yeah, it may have a little bit of body damage but I'm ok with that. It is what I want to drive, so it is up to me. I understand I probably sound crazy, but that is the way I feel. :) but go ahead, take the 05 lexus, haha.
why would you buy such a old car? all your gonna have is problems with it, not to mention the terrible mpg and everything. i say u made a bad choice but then again its ur choice to be made.
@jerrry13157 Well, I am going to be going to an automotive school, and working on cars and stuff is what I love todo. Not only does this allow me to drive very close to my dream truck every day, it also allows me experience as I have to fix it as it breaks down.
@maxwelljrdn It is a Midland 5001z, it doesn't have the NOAA weather option. I am OK without it because I just tune to a local radio station if I want to hear the weather. Overall I really like this radio, it is perfect for what I need and is pretty cheap at about $80
The Honda was not that old and it really didn't have many issues. I find that interesting that Ford graced that truck with rear ABS breaks only. I guess you won't have to worry about the rear wheels locking in the snow.....but the front ones are the ones you use for steering. Most cars have 4 wheel ABS so you can steer while breaking hard in slipper conditions. I shouldn't be to confused by this fact since Ford endowed their new cars with an AWD system that shuts off after you reach 25 mph.
@porsche558 The AWD shutting off at 25 isn't that stupid. If you think about it if you get the car up to 25 then you probably don't need the awd anymore. There are times when you would need it after 25 but it doesn't seem that stupid.
@thedekester18 Perhaps if you live in CA., FL., or Arizona; then sure I would agree with you. I happen to live in a place that has extra long harsh winters. I wouldn't want my AWD shutting off for any reason. It's still nice to have even in the summer on a rain slick road. Just wondering why you rather have a full size truck over a Ford Ranger? The Ranger gets decent gas mileage and is a better size for off roading (if you can do that where you live).
@porsche558 Well, I live in Iowa so we do have pretty long, harsh winters. I wanted the full size for the fact that I can out pull, out haul, and have more room then a ranger. I just have always liked bigger trucks better.
@thedekester18 I thought towing might have something to do with getting a big truck. LOL!! The full size trucks do offer a lot more room. Harsh winters in Iowa? I always thought of Iowa as a farming state in middle america. Big trucks tend to be popular in farm states....which makes sense since they are ideal "work vehicles". I guess another advantage to getting rid of the CRV is your friends won't expect you to give them a ride everywhere like mine do. They all have sports cars or trucks
@porsche558 Iowa is a farming state in middle america but we do have pretty harsh winters. Most of Iowa is farming, but there are quite a few bigger towns that don't have much farming in them at all. Like where I live.... until you get out into the county you don't see many farms. Then when you go out where I live, out of the city you run into all these farms. And the whole chauffeur thing is true also, I hated that. We always took my car cause I could seat the most.
lol nice truck check out my 1999 ford ranger i have one vid of it but its not very in depth im uploading an indepth video now i love your truck though very cool but why did you get it?

Not bad Derrick, not bad at all.... Are you going to fix up the rust spots, or leave it alone? Thanks for the video..

@vidman008 I think I am going to leave it alone, it would take a lot of work to fix the rust and I just don't see it being worth it.

you are correct about the Check Engine light. the previous owner more than likely removed the bulb because of the smog controls being missing.
i'm more than sure if you replaced the bulb, the CE light would come right on and give a code or two telling you about it.
gotta love a truck with real steel bumper, dare a little plastic car to pull out in front of you and watch which one suffers the damage :)
what Midland model is that CB? does it have the NOAA weather recieving option?

ford rocks anyways its an american vehicle but my parents wouldnt want me to get a v8 even if i payed for it since it gets bad gas milage
joeldude76 1 year ago
@joeldude76 Haha, yeah. The bad gas milage is an understatement. I am getting about 10MPG going very easy on it. :)
