This song is Afghan but from Pakhtunkhwa i.e. Pashtun area of Pakistan in otherwords NWFP. It is a Pashtun song so no non-Pashtun Pakis have done anything to it. The best modern version is by Khayal Mohammed, a Peshawar-based Singer. Remember we do not recognise Durand Line dividing NWFP from Afghanistan - and NWFP was Eastern Province of Pakistan till 1901 when the Amir of Afghanistan was pressurised to let go of demands for NWFP to be returned to his country.
