@scottmosher The music is made via AudioMulch (software) - I used one of the demo configurations and messed around with it a bit, added samples, as per end credits.
@riceicles123 Wiki says Plinian and Vulcanian, and from the descriptions that sounds about right from my non-expert 2 hour experience of the volcano :)
i went there with school last year, i'm from QLD, australia. It was absolutely stunning. i'll admit i was scared at first but some people were sitting with their legs over the edge. the teachers didn't let us get that close though :P it was stunning :) i suggest it to anyone and everyone :)
Has anyone else noticed how volcanoes and geysers erupt in almost exactly the same way? I never realized that until I saw the 2004 eruption of Mt. St. Helens.
It's just so much more spectacular when the liquid is rock instead of water, and the eruption is scaled up a few hundred thousand times. haha
I'll be there in a few weeks. I hope to get some video as good as you have. I'll also try to edit my background music so it fades out when there is something of the volcano to hear.
It probably would be - that's why the volcano guides take you to the side of the volcano where the wind isn't blowing the ash. They also monitor the level of volcano activity and that determines how close you are allowed to go.
1:38 Wow ... a little too close for comfort for my adrenaline threshold. Just one minor shift of terrain underfoot, or one misstep and loss of footing, and kiss your ass goodbye.
Not really, but a little danger is part of the fun!
Volcanos that erupt more or less constantly (like Yasur) are not really that dangerous-as volcanos go, anyways. They don't build up the gas pressure nessicary for a large scale eruption; they vent constantly and more or less predictably.
I've seen quite a few great vids of Yasur. Looks a great experience to witness eruptions from one of the world's most active volcanoes where you're guaranteed to see an eruption.
The Aussies got Yasur close to them, the Yanks got Kilauea, and we got Stromboli.
arn't dangerous! ya looked like it was throwin more than small rocks 2 me. i'm sure that 1 of those lava bombs smackin sombodys ass would be a fantastic experiance! there is no way in hell i'd bring my kids up there. might as well let em play with rattle snakes or wrestle grizzly cubs.
I thought the whole experience was fantastic . So I am taking my children and husband back before March 2009 to experience Yasur and the Native villages and to see . If you could set yourself something special to see in your lifetime this is it. Sue
i was at thge Volcano on Fri 12th Sept 2008. The video is great but does not translate the sheer power of the eruptions and the sensation of feeling the energy that surrounds it and smelling the sulphur. Truely a fantastic experience and worth the visit..Sue McLeod QLD Australia

Well to be exact and scientific these types that explode in (3mins) or so aren't deadly but sure are fascinating, though its really high and looks deadly its not it only throws small rocks and a little bit of smokescrees unlike the ones that take 100,000 years or so are so deadly they can burn down over 50 cities, and with the earthquakes (sometimes) they would be much deadlier of course, well nice video. =)!!!!!! 5/5!!!!!!!! Good example!!
stupid tards deserved to get hurt, why the fuck would u be stupid enough to stand on top of an active volcano? i mean why not just go pet a lion in africa?
Well I've never heard what an erupting volcano really sounds like and it appears I still won't thanks to 4 minutes of a bleepity-bloop synth soundtrack drowning everything out.
I put the soundtrack over as what you would otherwise mostly hear is really annoying wind noise across the microphone. However quite a few times when it erupts, you actually can hear the noise above the music.
wasnt huge, but i wouldnt go near 1, right up to the rim atleast... im studying volcanoes in school so i know tht there must not have been alot of pressure in that volcanic eruption.
The music was created with Audiomulch Interactive Music Studio. I used one of the sample configurations, made some changes and added the samples. Mostcredit should go to Audiomulch :)

out- not really. Although we next to rocks obviously flung out of the volcano, the volcanic activity is monitored & the level of activity determines how close you can go to the volcano. We left when we felt the eruptions were getting more active- see the last one on the video.
