  • Excellent. What song is the soundtrack though?

  • @scottmosher The music is made via AudioMulch (software) - I used one of the demo configurations and messed around with it a bit, added samples, as per end credits.

  • Pretty dangerous place to be where you people were filming!!

  • amazing!

  • Does it ever make Plinian eruptions or just Strombolian?

  • @riceicles123 Wiki says Plinian and Vulcanian, and from the descriptions that sounds about right from my non-expert 2 hour experience of the volcano :)

  • @ADeeperBlue Ive never seen plinian eruptions on Yasur, only ever Vulcanian and Strombolian :)

  • i went there with school last year, i'm from QLD, australia. It was absolutely stunning. i'll admit i was scared at first but some people were sitting with their legs over the edge. the teachers didn't let us get that close though :P it was stunning :) i suggest it to anyone and everyone :)

  • ive been up to the top of that its so beautiful especially at night they have road access to the summit you just have to walk the last 50m

  • Has anyone else noticed how volcanoes and geysers erupt in almost exactly the same way? I never realized that until I saw the 2004 eruption of Mt. St. Helens.

It's just so much more spectacular when the liquid is rock instead of water, and the eruption is scaled up a few hundred thousand times. haha

  • I'll be there in a few weeks. I hope to get some video as good as you have. I'll also try to edit my background music so it fades out when there is something of the volcano to hear.

  • Fun Fact - Yasur was a name of a tribe on the U.S production show Survivor Vanuatu!

I learned so much about the Yasur Volcano from the show. It's really interesting! =]

  • Can anyone here spell pyroclastic flow?

    Can they also outrun one?

  • isnt it dangeruos to breathe in the ash and stuff

haha im learning bout this is science

  • It probably would be - that's why the volcano guides take you to the side of the volcano where the wind isn't blowing the ash. They also monitor the level of volcano activity and that determines how close you are allowed to go.

  • Down in there man i cant see nothing ! :S

  • Awesomness. Pure awesomness.

  • LOOK ouT HoT RoCkS... WOoOt..WoOot!! great video! 5 stars

  • 1:38 Wow ... a little too close for comfort for my adrenaline threshold. Just one minor shift of terrain underfoot, or one misstep and loss of footing, and kiss your ass goodbye.

  • Isn't it dangerous?

  • Not really, but a little danger is part of the fun!

Volcanos that erupt more or less constantly (like Yasur) are not really that dangerous-as volcanos go, anyways. They don't build up the gas pressure nessicary for a large scale eruption; they vent constantly and more or less predictably.

  • wooow!!!!!!!

  • I've seen quite a few great vids of Yasur. Looks a great experience to witness eruptions from one of the world's most active volcanoes where you're guaranteed to see an eruption.

The Aussies got Yasur close to them, the Yanks got Kilauea, and we got Stromboli.

  • cheap real estate

  • hey nice vidio the music realy went good with the vidio and it also makes it scarier wow!!!

  • watch my volcano video

  • arn't dangerous! ya looked like it was throwin more than small rocks 2 me. i'm sure that 1 of those lava bombs smackin sombodys ass would be a fantastic experiance! there is no way in hell i'd bring my kids up there. might as well let em play with rattle snakes or wrestle grizzly cubs.

  • I thought the whole experience was fantastic . So I am taking my children and husband back before March 2009 to experience Yasur and the Native villages and to see . If you could set yourself something special to see in your lifetime this is it. Sue

  • i was at thge Volcano on Fri 12th Sept 2008. The video is great but does not translate the sheer power of the eruptions and the sensation of feeling the energy that surrounds it and smelling the sulphur. Truely a fantastic experience and worth the visit..Sue McLeod QLD Australia

  • Thanks Sue, it is indeed an amazing place

  • @susan2864 It's a pity we have no active volcanoes in Australia,I'd love to go see one.

  • the 5 reasons why u sholdnt be there ontop of it

1:u could get hit by those lava bombs

2:u could get choked by those gasses seeping out

    3:the pyroclast could choke u

4:a pyroclastic flow could come out at any second

5:lava flow could come without warining

  • 5 reasons why you would o up

    1. if you have a guide they no all about the conditions

    2. the govenment dont let you up above level 2

    3. you stand 200 metres away

    4. life time experience

    5. if your in the right place you will be fine

    went up on monday

i saw it beter than this

  • fabulous footage!

  • isnt it dangerous sittin at th top of a volcano crater hell those people are crazy just imagine that one of those people slid down into the crater with the lava bombs all over

  • i have acessec the url on the end of the video, but i couldnt find the music to download

i dont understand too much of "samples", or what it means, or even what is that url for..

please, how can i get this music?

    great video thx for sharing!

    Pedro

  • Pedro - the music was created using the Audio Mulch program (google it) - I used one of the demo track, made a few alterations and added some samples, nothing fancy - more people has commented that they don't like it :) Thanks for your comment.

  • Well to be exact and scientific these types that explode in (3mins) or so aren't deadly but sure are fascinating, though its really high and looks deadly its not it only throws small rocks and a little bit of smokescrees unlike the ones that take 100,000 years or so are so deadly they can burn down over 50 cities, and with the earthquakes (sometimes) they would be much deadlier of course, well nice video. =)!!!!!! 5/5!!!!!!!! Good example!!

  • Scaring and interesting at the same time - volcanoes are fascinating...

  • wohohohoooo... watch your shoes :))

  • yea great idea stand near the fuckin thing when its erupting ,your all good

  • nice vid but whatever that song is needs to be taken off, that song is fucking awful

  • i dare someone to go jump in it and burn

  • gimme twelve bucks and i will

  • sry i cant just give monny away like that

  • going now

  • WoW! yo how can u just watch it and like WoW brave if i seen that i would have moved ofut of the Contry

  • these people are lucky they didnt get hurt

  • stupid tards deserved to get hurt, why the fuck would u be stupid enough to stand on top of an active volcano? i mean why not just go pet a lion in africa?

  • gayass music

  • at first i was bored but now its kool!

  • the video is amazing¡¡¡¡ and the music incredible :D

  • wasn't it a little bit dagerous??

    AMAziNG.

  • wow you guyz were actually in the volcanoes mouth.

    :)

    AMAziNG.

  • freakin' awsm

  • amazing...

  • wow it's cool that they were right there while it erupted

  • cool vid

  • wow yasur! my brother yasur wow!

  • bellissimo video... ma filmato da veri incoscenti.

  • Well I've never heard what an erupting volcano really sounds like and it appears I still won't thanks to 4 minutes of a bleepity-bloop synth soundtrack drowning everything out.

  • I put the soundtrack over as what you would otherwise mostly hear is really annoying wind noise across the microphone. However quite a few times when it erupts, you actually can hear the noise above the music.

  • How long has it been dormant for?

  • wasnt huge, but i wouldnt go near 1, right up to the rim atleast... im studying volcanoes in school so i know tht there must not have been alot of pressure in that volcanic eruption.

  • ahh animal

  • soy mexicano

  • Pretty cool eruption

  • whoa cool i hope you can come super close to lava and show us right that going to be so awsome

  • i am so glad i had that geography lesson on them i am reli intrested in them in june i am going to italy just to see 1 =P

  • You are brave for upload something like this.

I wouldn't get no where near one.

  • was that a volcano or was there just a sink hole and the magma seeped through it?

  • I'm not an expert but the islands of Vanuatu are of volcanic origin and this is one of several volcanoes in the chain of islands

  • what's this song?

  • The music was created with Audiomulch Interactive Music Studio. I used one of the sample configurations, made some changes and added the samples. Mostcredit should go to Audiomulch :)

  • not only lava kills u the clouds kill u by the heat and ash.. it goes down u know

  • dam that was very close holy u guy lucky dude.Good vid. and nice survice if you nice please make more vid like this

    so awsome

  • How did you get so close without getting burned. why was the vent so low down.

  • bollocks to that..

sharks and volcanos.. wouldn't fuck with them.

Some things you just have to respect.. unless you're not particularly attatched to life.

  • wow many people might run but u were brave to stand there and its like so near

  • werent u scared ?

  • Absolutely! - the first five minutes I just wanted to leave, then settled down a bit until that last big one on the video - you could feel the shockwave from that one - and then we left.

  • is there any volcanos in austrlia

  • austria or australia?

    australia = no

  • There is volcanic activity on Heard Island and McDonald Islands - sub-antarctic Australian external territories, but no active volcano on the mainland of Australia

  • I was on top of this volcano 11yrs ago when it started exploding & shaking. It made our feet sink deep into the ash we were standing on. The explosions were deafening & molten rocks the size of cars were being launched out of the crater. Our guide freaked & made us run to the 4wd at the base. Shortly after this I heard tourists were no longer allowed to visit the summit where we were due to a death. I think this has changed & tourists are allowed back now though.

  • Wow - sounds very frightening, and yes, always possible I suppose

  • omfg i wish i was there:o

  • Man and just think, volcanoes actually started the oceans that we have, and adding more oceans and seas as well. Because of the fact that it adds more water vapor into Earth's Atmosphere, causing more precipitation. Science class has really got me hooked....lol

  • i saw an underwater volcano erupt, it was amazing looking! its at dailyplanetclips dot ca...seriously you will be amazed.

  • whoa man ur super brave--

  • And obviously, you watch too much tv....

  • Okay then...realistically speaking...OBVIOUSLY Y'ALL NEVER HEARD OF MOUNT HELENA!!!!

  • Obviously you don't know anything about volcanos. << These are professionals, first of all, and this particular type of volcano is not the same as Mt. Helena.

  • i dont think u can understand anything. r u a 2 year old?

  • Obviously you guys never heard of sarcasm.

  • volcano

  • wow wouldnt that fuckin suck if that guy fell at 1:33

  • Heh - yes we were amazed at how close that guy sat to the edge - its not solid rock, just compacted ash and loose rock.

  • I love volcano, tornado and all ths stuff

Soo amazing ths fr the vdo

  • YEA! i mostly love tornados!

  • Yes Mother Nature got the last word ...

Fabtastic work music & lava blow ;-)

But Vanuatu Island one day gone blow all!

  • whoa cool i hope you can come super close to lava and show us right that going to be so awsome

  • COOL vid, i wonder how close did u get?

  • i remember this

  • yay cool

  • how close are you?

  • very impressive

  • amazing footage

  • im glad im NOT AN INCH COSE TO ANY KILLER WEATHER or volcanoes yep i get no torandoes rarly storms no volanoes no hurricanes floods nothing in so glad

  • cool... you know you were playing a dangerous game but good job ;)

  • Holy cow, i have two things to say,

number 1, you were not thinking getting that close to a Volcano Eruption!!

and second, nice job! that looks really cool!

  • cool

  • Nice video, just uploaded my digital camera video capture from 2004. It was windy, it was bloody scary and I still cannot believe how close you can get.

Only stayed at the edge for a minute then went back to the safer viewing area where you walk up to watch the view on dusk.

  • yeah, the music was not so great i wanted to hear the volcano lol. Do you have one of those suits that reflect like 98% of heat?

  • It was fairly windy up there so much of sound recorded was wind catching on our microphone - which is why I put music across. You can still hear a little of the major eruptions amongst the music. I know its not the greatest music - I prefer not to use music without permission. As for reflective suits - we were not close enough to feel the heat and in fact we were high enough up that we took light jackets for after the sun set when the temperature dropped.

  • K, nice trip ya had.

  • must of been brace to get tht close, i would of done a runner if i seen a tiny bit of smoke lol!

  • he3!

i wanna see some real magma flowing!

    ^^

  • Great video! I can't believe you got that close.

  • You must be the pro-est guy on earth to go that close to lava at 1000 degrees celsius

    :)

  • This is dangerous!

  • woo beautiful would love to have gone even closer

  • Omg wernt you scared up this close?

But those clouds of ash puffing out are 100's of degrees. U r brave.

Thanks for the close footage though.

    Cheers

  • .um the mucic..kinda distacting...i like to hear the chuffing

  • Amazing video, showing how temperamental volcanoes can be! Thank you for sharing your video.

  • wow you get dis vid beside the volcano amazing!are'nt you scared?

  • Wow, what a view. Thanks for this amazing close-up.

  • No way you'd ever' catch me sitting on the edge of something like that. Lot of people gotten killed that way.

  • are there ever lava flows?

  • Sometimes,it depends on the volcano

  • Not usually - it generally just explodes out I think.

  • this is very good stuff

  • wow...

  • just watching made me nervous i literally felt i was invovled. That's how you know it's great work. I really like the video!! thanx for sharing, i'm still in shock you didn't get hurt. (wish i was there)

  • Thanks for your comment :)

  • Must Be A Great Experience !!!!

  • doesnt it really smell by those things....sulphur etc?

  • Hi - we stayed upwind so there wasn't much to smell

  • great vid..next time get a remote toy chopper with digi camera on it...get some close ups..just idea

  • FireWorks!!! "YAY"

  • ever come close to being hit by flying rock/pyroclast?

  • out- not really. Although we next to rocks obviously flung out of the volcano, the volcanic activity is monitored & the level of activity determines how close you can go to the volcano. The rocks were falling short of where we stood that day, & the wind was blowing the smoke cloud in the other direction. Of course it is a natural event, & conditions may change. We left when we felt the eruptions were getting more active- see the last one on the video.

  • 1) ash; not smoke

    2) me so jealous

  • Did you Zoom in or you really went close? if i were you i would drop dead immediately you're Brave Good Job

  • Well we probably did use the zoom for some of it, but I felt we were close enough - it would have been hard to get closer without ropes and would have been very dangerous.

  • yuo shiuld never go that close cause if u fall in your pretty mutch dead

  • lol thaT person is brave haha xD

  • Brilliant, was there also but it was bit sleepy compared to that ;-)... do you remeber what activity level it was when you were there?

  • Hi Sipunckle - the admission office said that it was level 2, though people back at the bungalows mentioned level3 earlier in the day.

  • Interesting video. Good job!

  • theres no lava!!

  • There is no lava flow - but the red glowing bits being thrown out of the volcano is lava.

  • OOOOHHHHH!!!

  • That was great!

  • wow your braver than i am

i would be shitting my pants

  • excellent!

  • sweet!

  • i loved the porn music in the background

  • Superb! I could almost smell it during moments of the film. Pooh! What a honk!

  • skeet skeet skeet!

  • wow cool

  • o m g

    NICE

  • que maravilloso espectaculo de la naturaleza!

  • This is an amazing video. The angles at which you have managed to take the shots are truly phenomenal!
