@MrRyanGC You can crunch numbers on it for an estimate if it's plausible or not by any means. You take the manhole covers physical attributes, and then calculate how much pressure you would need to blow it into space from a severely limited acceleration strech (like a small metal cork at the end of a gun barrel when a blank is shot), and check if such a preassure whould melt/rip the cover to shreads, and if a nuke underground can produce such preassures.

A scale model with a gun could be fun.
