  • Fantastic! I have loved this song ever since I was 15 years old and I am 52 now!

Such an emotional memory trip to hear it again. Thank you so much.

  • You posted exactly what i was thinking myself, i lived in melbourne early 70s i am also early 50s time has just slipped by so quick beautiful mems though,,

  • Ohhh, so so so so so sorry . My main respose to this Video was the older gentleman playing the violin.

I really thought he was such a great attachment to the orchestra - & probly the most experienced as well.

No doubt through this clip, his kids & grand kids will remember this man - not forgetting, he's at the age living in another generation beyond what he's use to, and still flicking those strings. - Good on you grand fellow, you are remembered by us. Thank you for your contribution mate.

  • I am sooo blown out by this. Ty so much for Aussie Music LRB - or was that Missisippi. Dont matter, this is great, i take my hat off.

By the way, i heard this song flicking through channels & couldn't get who sang it (35 odd years later), I posted Jonesy & Amanda (wsfm radio station in Sydney Australia ( morning), ) & whooshka, "Kings of the world" was the response. Thanks to Jonesy & Amanda, & Aussie Music here. From John - Sydney Australia - Gods Country, hehe. ;))

  • gooddddddddddddd

  • so soulfull

  • fucken genius

  • Cant explain how this song makes me feel............think its a feeling of wo is me then when the chorus kicks in it lifts me high ...Love it

  • R.I.P. Russ Johnson

  • still stunned did you know him?

  • Not personally ..Cliff, the singer in our band, was one of his best friends.. a real loss to Aust music.

  • do you know if a cd Russ did called Rock n Roll Gypsy can be bought anywhere? I knew him in 1978

  • I'll ask Cliff and post reply here in day or two :)

  • Hi Rob50strat, any news from Cliff yet? I would really like to get a copy and am happy to pay cost of delivery ect .I am in MELB

  • Spoke to Cliffy at practice on Sat.. He knows of the recording but doesn't have it himself.. another possible avenue might be to track down Sandy Mathewson bass player of Adelaide band "The Boogiemen" who played bass on some of Russ' last recordings.. I've lost touch with Sandy but I think The Boogiemen have a myspace page..

  • Thank you for trying. I will try Sandy. Thank Cliff for me.

  • @555222ful hey mate saw this while surfing the net I am sandy the bass player who was with Missisippi in the early years with russ johnson and in the later years played on most of his rock and roll gypsy tracks. while we were doing this album russ unfortunately passed away so I still have the unfinished multitracks and have not done anything with them .they need a lot of guitar work and as yet havent found anybody that could play like russ.
