In the original movie, they killed each other, the fight was a draw. Prime would have destroyed him if Hot Rod did not interfere.

Also in the pilot episode, Prime was much rougher against Megatron and would have one had Ravage not jumped him.

In the movie Prime was pitifully beaten and was rescued by a kid. Had the military not helped out, Prime would have not hit Megatron more than 3 times during the final segment.

Who up voted this? Not to say Prime won, but Megs won because he was tougher and had tougher ALLIES, in addition he was the BAD GUY and the BAD GUY is typically plot shielded and has better tactics. In addition, Prime f*cking OWNED Megatron in the first (and only) movie - Megatron only got in a CHEAP SHOT because Hot Rod had to be a "heroic dumbass".

Kept his character true? I was fine with Optimus getting his ass kicked - so why was he fighting Starscream, Megatron, AND Grindor in the SEQUEL!?

It's sad that this song is much more of an homage to the original song than the new movie was to the 86' film. The very least Bay could have done to make his film better was make more decepticon-looking transformers!!! I'm still not impressed with Megatron, Starscream, and Blackout, even after watching the movie a couple of times. For me personally, the aesthetics plays a big part in Transformers and this was definitely not achieved. Mr. Bay can just take the whole 'alien' look elsewhere.
