Cigarettes are taxed obscenely...but I can still buy 20 for less than $7.Legal marijuana should be no different....Stroup is out of his fucking mind suggesting the govt should rape it's citizens like this.
this is fucked up. anyone can see it's illegal because they can't fucking sell it to us! omg! they're are talking about tax prices, instead of pros and cons on the herb.
According to the World Health Organization, alcohol kills approximately 2 MILLION people every year. Marijuana kills ZERO. The worst thing about pot is that it may lead to alcohol. The best thing is that it may substitute for alcohol. Nevermind that prohibition is an assault on individual rights, or that it costs taxpayers billions of dollars, punishes a nonviolent, victimless "crime", and ultimately creates violent criminals. There are many of us who can't find a dealer . I've been dry for over a year because I moved to NJ and I cant find anyone who sells it. So yeah I would buy it at any fucking price . Also I would pay top dollar for it just so i dont have to worry about cops busting in my door shooting my dog and terrorizing my family.

I can get the kush for 225 an ounce. But I have been writing the President about this issue due to the fact of the increase of the incenses that people are smoking. Legalization would provide jobs as well as tax revenue it is stupid not to do it.
it will be legal one day and i will laugh it its legal in the states before Canada. As a kid i could get pot off of any dealer so if it was legalized it would be safer for kids because they cant buy it if its in a liquor store type thing CAUSE THEY WILL HAVE TO BE 18 TO BUY IT DUHHHH. and MARIJUANA IS A GATE WAY DRUG TO ALCOHOL.and marijuana would be safer cause its like 100 percent THC on the street. with no CBD.
i get so angry. they call us the home of the free, yet we are not free to do as we please with our own bodies. it's our bodies if we want to smoke it we will.
its so true i dont know any stoner who trys to drive i think most well people who smoke try not to get in harms way they try to just relax and stay calm
"What was done with the seed saved from the India Hemp last summer? It ought, all of it, to have been sewn again; that not only a stock of seed sufficient for my own purposes might have been raised, but to have disseminated the seed to others; as it is more valuable than the common Hemp."
I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding something and I want marijuana to be legal just as much as the next guy, but I do not like the idea of being price gouged by the government just as much as I would be by a black market dealer. $25/oz to grow and a $300-$500/oz price at sale is steep. Continued...
I always thought that the black market dealers were charging that much because they are wanting compensation for putting themselves at risk by moving an illegal product and that a benefit of having it legalized would be that it would not be as expensive.
@ledbowman If everybody can grow their own with no risk for non commercial use? The government's price/tax will come down. The bill allows that. It's not a perfect bill but that bit in my opinion is and the next will be even better. Trust me on that. It's a good bill, the next will take the best of it and make it even better...
I'm sick of having to beg and plead to use God's plant that he gave us! We are not free, the government doesn't care about us, they won't legalize, they don't care about our health!
Too many industries and cartels make too much money keeping MJ illegal, any politician that want's it legal will get his/her head cut off! The World is corrupt, we are not free, we are living in a world that is ass backwards!
Fuck paying $300-$500 an ounce, if you smoke an once a month you'd be paying thousands a year for a plant that you could grow.
After paying for lights, nutrients, etc... it would pay for itself in less than a year and you could grow all you want for a fraction of the cost.
That's one reason it won't get legalized, because anyone can grow it, they are so fucking corrupt it makes me sick, God gave us the MJ plant, and the government keeps it illegal because industries make to much profit!
Fuck paying $300-500 an ounce? That's what I pay now. If this passes? I'll be free to grow my own with no tax. Know what you are talking about before you go off. Tax commercial sales, let individuals grow for themselves tax free. Everybody makes out..And don't be a defeatist. It can and will happen.
I would love for it to be legal and to grow it own my own.
But what about the big pharma, the drug cartels, cotton companies, the oil industry, paper industry, the alcohol companies, the private jails, they all make billions keeping it illegal!!
They are what influence the politicians decisions, they want to keep it illegal to make profits, if we all grow it, they will lose billions in profits.
I hope I'm wrong and it's legalized soon, but it might never happen because of the above reasons!
Most of them don't care but for the DA's in MA from my experience with Question 2 decrim. If you look at who funded our opposition? The police and District Attorneys. That's not much to overcome when you have the broad public support we do. And now the money from the medical dispensary businesses throwing into campaigns. There's what you think and what I know. California, legalizes this year through the ballot, has a right to grow your own. This is what's important and to be fought for.
Well I hope you're right and it's legalized in California, if so it will spread through the country and into Canada too.
Currently I'm in Mexico, and the killing by the drug cartels is at it's highest. If USA legalizes MJ 80% or more of the violence will stop.
In Canada a politician named Jack Layton was campaigning for legalizing marijuana and he partnered with the Price of Pot Marc Emery, well basically he lied to get votes and Marc is in jail now!
@MikeCANN I love what you are doing. I live in MA and pray for this to help me with medical problems I have. But I must say that $300-$500 and ounce, (though generally accurate) is far too much and is only so high do to prohibition. I would HOPE that legal competition in the market would drive the price far lower. I would not ENCOURAGE the lawmakers to tax it THAT high. I would not be able to afford that, and I NEED it.
Marijuana has to be made legal, it is such a hassle when you smoke a plant and get in trouble. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol and it's proven history repeats itself sooo...... And in early times alcohol was used as a medicine kinda, I'm sure you get the correlation. That's my 2 cents. Man made booze god made weed, who do you trust?
everyone can do their part right now. go to citizentube right here on youtube and vote for your favorite questions. as of right now marijuana legalization is # 1 under "jobs and economy" as well as about 20 other cannabis related questions on the front pages of other topics. take about 10 minutes of your time and help our cause. lets make sure these questions stay at the top so that they can get answered this time. lets let obama know that we are serious about this topic.
I agree with taxing the sales like anything else but I can not agree with the IDEA of suggesting to the Government to continue the Black Market Value to Make a HUGE profit for any benefit. Same for the concept for posing a license fee to grow and profit for any reason. The Fact that norml would suggest this and in addition to their lack of Backing even the idea of looking into Rick Simpson's Hemp Oil Cancer and disease Cure makes me lose much respect for them.
i respect what your saying but at the same time to make it legal the government will want to tax as much as possible, that is the only way all of are dreams will be answered. now that i have said that let them make it 200 dollars for a strain of 23% thc as a price line that would be a deal for everyone.
Government does not like us to have any freedom and drug companies do not like us to have safe medicine for censer and other patients in need..they are afraid for people to fined out that there is a benefit in many ways from this good plant and not as harm as represented.Sadly doctors are controlled by the drug companies so we have this big pharmaceutical industry growing that is more harm to us..and vaccines and so much more. Today to get the grass kids go to drug dealer exposed to hard drugs
They should not allow the government to get involved in regulation of Marijuana. It makes sense to legalize but not get the government in the middle of it. It grows out of the earth for Godsake!! Should we outlaw Tulips next...lol!!
Well that's not what this bill really does. It legalizes personal grow and tax/regulates sales. The govt. wouldn't be in the middle of it, when I can grow all I want for free right next to my tomatoes....
I hope that this bill pass but they will not let us even grow tomatoes how we wish at some point, because they are controlling our independent farmers and they are feeding us with GMO foods ect. I can only pray and hope that we take back our freedom little at the time the way they stole it from us. Our body belongs to us not to government and people are not stupid they know what's good and what's bad for them. They do not need government for the babysitter!
not condescending. most of them he's speaking to agree, yet it won't get a vote? We're there year after year. With the huge, large majority of citizens and speakers for it? And this is just a bit of his testimony. Epstein did and always does a good job at these. The rep/elected officials like him and his testimony. So there you go.
poor people can grow it. It's easy to grow and this bill has no tax for personal use. He's talking commercial use which the prices will eventually drop on too if legalized this way...
"More recently, scientists reported that cannabidiol, one of the chemicals found in marijuana, slows growth of breast cancer cells growing in laboratory dishes. However, this substance has not been tested in humans or even in animals that have cancer yet. Cannabidiol levels in marijuana are low, so any benefit from this compound would require use of a purified and concentrated form."
check the norml org website, i know there's some things happening in Florida. They have a link to the local chapters on the left side of the page. Jacksonville and some of the Florida University's have big chapters.
I agree 100%, how could they let that idiot be the one to address law makers? This is a historic hearing for our purpose, but he basically takes all the legitimacy out of it by acting so obnoxious and classifying cannabis consumers as "stoners" who just want to "stay at home and order pizza after getting high." Given that stigma, they'll never let us have our freedom back to choose something safer than alcohol to relax and have a good time with.
I don't agree. Epstein is well received by the legislators too. A successful attorney, organizer, father, who openly admits his own use. The dude's very intelligent and has a gift with doing presentations, testimony, it's what he does. This is only part of it and really unfair to judge it on that. Steve is good at these hearings, the reps like it and give us more good responses because of them. I'm there and care.
He looked obviously stoned. He expresses the typical problem with reforming marijuana laws. Sometimes a clown like this gets into a serious hearing stoned. If presenters to senate panels regarding alcohol prohibition showed up drunk, how well would those hearing have gone?
hemp is like a blessing to the human species. it can be used for almost anything to sustain our species. however, since our economy isn't built on hemp, it would come down crashing. i'ts like introducing free energy into an economy so reliant on oil...
look up the real reason why marijuana was made illegal. it has nothing to do with the effects of the human body. the real reason is hemp(also comes from the cannibis plant). hemp production in the U.S. would explode our economy because it would put all other business out of business. so instead of legalizing marijuana we need to figure out a way to keep hemp production illegal while keeping the psychoactive component of cannibis (THC) legal.
Please take this seriously because our rights as Americans have been marginalized for way too long. Please write to your representatives because the time is now to act against this stupid prohibition of a failing drug war!!!
Fuck regulating and taxing it. What, so they can add whatever addictive and deadly chemicals they want?Like they do cigarettes? We're missing the big picture here.We need to legalize it period, let us grow it and smoke it without intervention from the govt. Legalize it PERIOD!
DO NOT TAKE THE SWINE FLU VACCINE. Search FALL OF THE REPUBLIC on youtube. The globalist agenda is set but we have to stop the New World Order. As far as left or right is concerned, there is no right or left only right or wrong. 9/11 was an inside job. Wake up and realize the economic collapse was planned. This isn't conspiracy theory, its a matter of control in the hands of a few wealthy people. Know the truth, infowars . com
I also believe that marijuana should be legal for all its potentiall uses: recreational, medicinal and industrial. Some friends of mine came up with a good 7-minute video on why pot should be legalized. Take a look and if you think its a worthwhile video, send it to as many people as you can. Go up to the search bar and copy and paste these four words in: obama natural medicine Tylenol. It will be the first video that comes up.
@GNAA9000 but this is the thing , you either buy it from dealers for less than half the price or u deal with the goverment which will rip u off for over half the price , i guess thats the price we have to pay if its legalised right?
fuck babylon ... a system so corrupt , satan feared it.

Many people are unaware of the real risks of marijuana use.
FACT: Alcohol consists of one substance only: ethanol. Marijuana contains over 400 known chemicals.
FACT: THC in marijuana damage the immune system. Alcohol does not.
FACT: Alcohol is eliminated from the body in only hours, but THC (as in marijuana) stays in the body for weeks, possibly months depending on the length and intensity of usage.
- I'm not intending to minimize the damaging effects of alcohol, it can be just as harmful.
alcohol is expelled from yer body in days not weeks because yer body sees it as a poison ............................................................those 400 chemicals you speak of are mostly cannibanoids witch yer body makes anyway and loves................. if you smoked alcohol is that good, my point being t there are other ways to ingest marijuana that do not dammage yer immune system
Here's the real question: why the hell hasn't this been done already?
I'm certain that this has been mentioned before, but I'll go through with it anyway. While personal cultivation is an excellent option, I don't believe the country itself is considering the money that can be made off of this. Opening farms would provide jobs: government run cannabis farms would need security, farmers, et al. Our unemployment rate is, to put it bluntly (no pun intended), fucking ridiculous. (cont . . . )
Full legalization across our map would be ideal considering that the US economy is in the gutter; this would effectively cut "drug war" costs while opening, perhaps at best, a few thousand jobs. Not to mention the fact that the stalks from these plants could be used as biomass.
"Give me liberty, or give me death!" - Patrick Henry
What surprises me is that pot is illegal and alcohol is not? Both should be illegal, mind alteration ways of having a good time takes away judgement and logic.
I'm not a mrijuana user and frown upon such behavior, but it's no secret that our "war" on drugs has cost more money, killed more Americans and destroyed more young lives than marijuana ever could hope to do.
"Massachusetts Joint Revenue Committee" ... LOL, was that your little pun MikeCANN?
It wouldn't surprise me if they legalized pot. When you start down the slippery slope of legalizing sodomite marriage, it's just a hop and a skip (pun intended) to worse sins. Although, as I think about it, there aren't that many things worse left on the list, which is why I'm not taking my kids to Massachusetts!
"sins"? Do you understand that if you base your legal system upon your own religious beliefs that you are advocating a theocracy, which happens to be the same thing we are at war against? Are you a Christian Taliban operative? Do you hate your country and it's freedoms?
in other words evreyone will be happy if you Legalize it now, Restuarnts, Food Stores, Doctors, Farmers, Bridges, People who want to chill out in there back yard having a cook out, And if you sell it where they sell Beer, Beer Stores, will make out big time too, Legalize it
how about we knock you in the head instead? That's Keith Stroup the founder of the marijuana reform movement. This isnt Ohio, it's MA the #1 market for weed. Some do pay that kind of money. And the bill provides the right to grow your own for free with no taxes. He knows the state will adjust the tax based on demand. If it's to high people will grow their own. people will pay to buy it in a store for convenience, quality, etc. And the tax will be set by the market in the end.
Regular price for good nug is 60 1/8th in most places except bigger cities.... 120 qtr, 240 half, 480 ounce..... But he was actually saying $400 dollars ounce, as some people would buy bulk cheap, and many would buy small amounts. They really just need to make the legal price a chunk under the national average of what people pay ($60 an 1/8th to $40 depending on location) and the black market will be snuffed out purely based on convenience and store owners wouldn't PINCH or be shady
refrain from clapping, thats the mentality of our gov. those who don't agree with us are wrong. i talk out agianst gov to other students at my college inbetween classes and they try to kick me out for disrupting class. i defend my free speach and that it doesn't disrupt class because it doesn't occur during class. so i don't get kicked out but i'm allways getting accusations agianst me and i'm on security's terrist list. they followed me one day and threatened to knock me on the ground for smile
The bill proposed breaks it down in stages according to grade, and taxes is $150 for shitty grass, $200 for regs. , and $250 for headies... not too bad.
And that would be legal! The reason he can say that. The tax would be set by that competition. You can grow for free under this bill. And buy it in the store for convenience and pay the tax. He knows that tax would be set by the govt. looking to make the most money. If the tax is to high, the won't collect money, so in the end the govt will let the tax be dictated by the market...He's letting them know that there is lots of profit. People in MA do often pay $300-500 an ounce today.
check my youtube or the video responses up above. There's more videos and my examiner page to the right top of this video has more of them too that were over the 10 minutes yt allows..
It's good to see Keith Stroup still working hard for the cause at his age. He was the one who started the first organized legalization group, NORML, back in the early 70's.
$300 an ounce is still WAY too expensive. About $200 would be more like it. Don't forget, if the black market can grow it for $25 an ounce, and the state charges $300, what's to stop the black market suppliers from lowering their price to $200? It needs to be made affordable enough to remove the motive for black market suppliers to stay in the game.
No one can control prices, at least not in this situation. Once legal, competition will do the job of lowering the cost to the consumer. Unfortunately, legalization would only be within the particular state. Once marijuana is legal nationwide, then we can open the door to importing marijuana from all around the world lowering the costs a lot. The more legal it becomes, the less dangerous and less costly.
agreed muhls, I live in San Diego and that is correct...even the local govt. here, including the police, DA and mayor try to find any loophole they can to persecute medical marijuana patients
Are you fuckin retarted? Yes I know it was legal back in the day (befor 1937) but even if its past under stae laws...its stll illegall under FEDERAL LAW. The government might come in in like it does in calli and arrest people or shut down these marijuana establishments.
i actually just reread your last comment and i misinterpreted it..i was thinking you were saying legalizing marijuana would be a disgrace to uncle sam, but yeah now i can see where your talking about government over state.
help the fight for legalization call 973-409-3274 an automated call that lasts 15 seconds so we can send a proposal to president Obama. and pass on the number. thanks
this is good and bad. good is weed will be legal. BAD - ur gonna put ur money in the goverment's pocket instead of ur friends who u buy it off of now.
Who's going to grow it? Who's selling it in California? The same friends. Nothing's changed but the govt. in California takes a cut in exchange to make it semi-legal which helps regulate the product. And you can still grow your own for personal use..Considering that, there's not much that will change but that commercial stores will sell and raise tax...
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President,or that we are to stand by the Government, right or wrong. Is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public..Franklyn Theodore Roosevelt 26th Pres. 1858-1919 Vote Ron Paul save our nation Campain 4 Liberty Live free or Die for it )o End the NWO and secret societies o( RESIST )o !!!!
who pays 600 an ounce i wanna meet them..lol and if they sell 350 nobody but a dumbass will buy it....now put it in the 150 200 range andthey will never keep the stock up....also tons of people do have the expertise to grow amazing pot....and yet we cannot have bud all year there r dry spots in between harvests so it will make states money....
and they have the option to place the tax up or down based on market demands, it's all profit, the market will set itself believe me. Prices will actually go down a bit maybe not right at first but within five years of it happening if not sooner.
well i would just grow my own and let my friends get a better deal fuck our gov thats nazi prices 300 is still steep cause i can get it cheaper and delivery so why go 2 the store 2 pay more???when they legalize learn to grow your own people
when a man has the principles of nature as the base of his argument, he is not easily beaten out of IT....paraphrasing Thomas Paine from his pamphlet Common Sense..and hear is a DIRECT QUOTE "In almost every article of defence we abound. Hemp flourishes even to rankness..." after i post this comment, I am going to go take some tokes in honor of my good buddy Thomas!!!*****

hey well not fuck the usa our country is beautifull(not the citys)our gov is nazis most people hate what they do anyway we are not realy free we always got our own governments nose in everything..we are trying to legalize and fighting for rights so u r right about the nazi part..but our outdoors are awesome we have the best hunting and fishing in the world mofuckas....so dont be hatin
I don't really like the last guy. He gets into opinions when he could be giving intelligent data about how marijuana has 0 reported deaths or that THC has been shown to reduce free radical cells. All stronger arguments than the John Adams wants you to smoke pot....just makes him sound not credible.
Steven Epstein is the friggin man ...he is so well spoken and intelligent im glad we have someone like him to represent people like us....but right when i got into the vid it ended ..is there another vid coming or another site i can go to to see the hole thing >or at least steve???
yep, not on youtube though, it's over their 10 minute rule for new vids and I dont want to break it up. So look later tonight on mikecann or boston norml examiner...
I read both the HB2929 and SB1801 Bills and they are excellent! They address all of the major concerns that have been voiced by both the cannabis users and non-users alike. Both sides are included in detail.
Everyone should read them and listen to the Massachusetts hearings.
If you are tired of seeing non-violent people filling prisons and tired of your tax dollars being wasted, send a copy of the bills to your govt officials -- push for them to pass similar legislation.
yes, I agree, the right to grow your own for personal, non commercial use and the taxation from replacing the black market for govt regulation, quality product for commercial sale....
ya and no more dealers ever tryin to pawn off scwhag or skimp on your sack...it will be all fair on the market and think of all the types that will be available we might even get coffeshops in some places...we are fightin the good fight here in CA...good luck to you guys and god bless...
hit the link at the top right of this page (please subscribe to that page too! Helps me get more traffic from their network) and look at the first link box on the right, "cantaxreg" link has it..
it may not be happening where I live. but the more it happens elsewhere, the more likely the state i live in will say "oh look, another product we can profit off of and not spend so much damn money on arresting nonviolent stoners anymore."
I support this bill and i live in singapore a country that punishes possession of more then 500 grams of pot with the death penalty....on second thought maybe i shouldn't even be posting the narks might be watching
Cigarettes are taxed obscenely...but I can still buy 20 for less than $7.Legal marijuana should be no different....Stroup is out of his fucking mind suggesting the govt should rape it's citizens like this.

I always thought that the black market dealers were charging that much because they are wanting compensation for putting themselves at risk by moving an illegal product and that a benefit of having it legalized would be that it would not be as expensive.
Thoughts?
ledbowman 1 year ago

God knows the truth so keep using MJ in peace!!!
superherbsmoker 2 years ago
Fuck paying $300-$500 an ounce, if you smoke an once a month you'd be paying thousands a year for a plant that you could grow.
After paying for lights, nutrients, etc... it would pay for itself in less than a year and you could grow all you want for a fraction of the cost.
That's one reason it won't get legalized, because anyone can grow it, they are so fucking corrupt it makes me sick, God gave us the MJ plant, and the government keeps it illegal because industries make to much profit!
superherbsmoker 2 years ago
Fuck paying $300-500 an ounce? That's what I pay now. If this passes? I'll be free to grow my own with no tax. Know what you are talking about before you go off. Tax commercial sales, let individuals grow for themselves tax free. Everybody makes out..And don't be a defeatist. It can and will happen.
MikeCANN 2 years ago 10
I would love for it to be legal and to grow it own my own.
But what about the big pharma, the drug cartels, cotton companies, the oil industry, paper industry, the alcohol companies, the private jails, they all make billions keeping it illegal!!
They are what influence the politicians decisions, they want to keep it illegal to make profits, if we all grow it, they will lose billions in profits.
I hope I'm wrong and it's legalized soon, but it might never happen because of the above reasons!
superherbsmoker 2 years ago
Most of them don't care but for the DA's in MA from my experience with Question 2 decrim. If you look at who funded our opposition? The police and District Attorneys. That's not much to overcome when you have the broad public support we do. And now the money from the medical dispensary businesses throwing into campaigns. There's what you think and what I know. California, legalizes this year through the ballot, has a right to grow your own. This is what's important and to be fought for.
MikeCANN 2 years ago
Well I hope you're right and it's legalized in California, if so it will spread through the country and into Canada too.
Currently I'm in Mexico, and the killing by the drug cartels is at it's highest. If USA legalizes MJ 80% or more of the violence will stop.
In Canada a politician named Jack Layton was campaigning for legalizing marijuana and he partnered with the Price of Pot Marc Emery, well basically he lied to get votes and Marc is in jail now!
So I'll believe it when I see it!

I agree with taxing the sales like anything else but I can not agree with the IDEA of suggesting to the Government to continue the Black Market Value to Make a HUGE profit for any benefit. Same for the concept for posing a license fee to grow and profit for any reason. The Fact that norml would suggest this and in addition to their lack of Backing even the idea of looking into Rick Simpson's Hemp Oil Cancer and disease Cure makes me lose much respect for them.
Legalize Cannabis and Ind. Hemp
HolisticPlantHealth 2 years ago 3
i respect what your saying but at the same time to make it legal the government will want to tax as much as possible, that is the only way all of are dreams will be answered. now that i have said that let them make it 200 dollars for a strain of 23% thc as a price line that would be a deal for everyone.

Should we outlaw Tulips next...lol!!
pat52007 2 years ago
Well that's not what this bill really does. It legalizes personal grow and tax/regulates sales. The govt. wouldn't be in the middle of it, when I can grow all I want for free right next to my tomatoes....
MikeCANN 2 years ago
I hope that this bill pass but they will not let us even grow tomatoes how we wish at some point, because they are controlling our independent farmers and they are feeding us with GMO foods ect. I can only pray and hope that we take back our freedom little at the time the way they stole it from us. Our body belongs to us not to government and people are not stupid they know what's good and what's bad for them. They do not need government for the babysitter!

THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
"More recently, scientists reported that cannabidiol, one of the chemicals found in marijuana, slows growth of breast cancer cells growing in laboratory dishes. However, this substance has not been tested in humans or even in animals that have cancer yet. Cannabidiol levels in marijuana are low, so any benefit from this compound would require use of a purified and concentrated form."

Steven Epstein sounds like such a douche.
lieutenantwaffle 2 years ago
I agree 100%, how could they let that idiot be the one to address law makers? This is a historic hearing for our purpose, but he basically takes all the legitimacy out of it by acting so obnoxious and classifying cannabis consumers as "stoners" who just want to "stay at home and order pizza after getting high." Given that stigma, they'll never let us have our freedom back to choose something safer than alcohol to relax and have a good time with.
daren420c 2 years ago
I don't agree. Epstein is well received by the legislators too. A successful attorney, organizer, father, who openly admits his own use. The dude's very intelligent and has a gift with doing presentations, testimony, it's what he does. This is only part of it and really unfair to judge it on that. Steve is good at these hearings, the reps like it and give us more good responses because of them. I'm there and care.
MikeCANN 2 years ago
And he was responding to some BS from the reps on the other side of us off the cuff and dead on killed it with truth and laughter.

He looked obviously stoned. He expresses the typical problem with reforming marijuana laws. Sometimes a clown like this gets into a serious hearing stoned. If presenters to senate panels regarding alcohol prohibition showed up drunk, how well would those hearing have gone?

gmanperson 2 years ago
look up the real reason why marijuana was made illegal. it has nothing to do with the effects of the human body. the real reason is hemp(also comes from the cannibis plant). hemp production in the U.S. would explode our economy because it would put all other business out of business. so instead of legalizing marijuana we need to figure out a way to keep hemp production illegal while keeping the psychoactive component of cannibis (THC) legal.

- I'm not intending to minimize the damaging effects of alcohol, it can be just as harmful.
seosean 2 years ago
alcohol is expelled from yer body in days not weeks because yer body sees it as a poison ............................................................those 400 chemicals you speak of are mostly cannibanoids witch yer body makes anyway and loves................. if you smoked alcohol is that good, my point being t there are other ways to ingest marijuana that do not dammage yer immune system

(cont . . . )
5i1enc3d 2 years ago
Full legalization across our map would be ideal considering that the US economy is in the gutter; this would effectively cut "drug war" costs while opening, perhaps at best, a few thousand jobs. Not to mention the fact that the stalks from these plants could be used as biomass.

$500 ? $500/oz, where did he get his info? Rockefeller? Somebody go knock that old man in the head befores he causes alot of trouble!
MomDawg057 2 years ago
how about we knock you in the head instead? That's Keith Stroup the founder of the marijuana reform movement. This isnt Ohio, it's MA the #1 market for weed. Some do pay that kind of money. And the bill provides the right to grow your own for free with no taxes. He knows the state will adjust the tax based on demand. If it's to high people will grow their own. people will pay to buy it in a store for convenience, quality, etc. And the tax will be set by the market in the end.
MikeCANN 2 years ago
Regular price for good nug is 60 1/8th in most places except bigger cities.... 120 qtr, 240 half, 480 ounce..... But he was actually saying $400 dollars ounce, as some people would buy bulk cheap, and many would buy small amounts. They really just need to make the legal price a chunk under the national average of what people pay ($60 an 1/8th to $40 depending on location) and the black market will be snuffed out purely based on convenience and store owners wouldn't PINCH or be shady

500 bucks an ounce...That is ridiculous...you could pretty much buy everything needed to grow your six plants for that....
chomble918 2 years ago
I completely agree and it would keep on producing from that point.
MomDawg057 2 years ago
And that would be legal! The reason he can say that. The tax would be set by that competition. You can grow for free under this bill. And buy it in the store for convenience and pay the tax. He knows that tax would be set by the govt. looking to make the most money. If the tax is to high, the won't collect money, so in the end the govt will let the tax be dictated by the market...He's letting them know that there is lots of profit. People in MA do often pay $300-500 an ounce today.

TheSkinzilla 2 years ago
No one can control prices, at least not in this situation. Once legal, competition will do the job of lowering the cost to the consumer. Unfortunately, legalization would only be within the particular state. Once marijuana is legal nationwide, then we can open the door to importing marijuana from all around the world lowering the costs a lot. The more legal it becomes, the less dangerous and less costly.

History recalls how great the fall can be
While everybody is sleeping the boats put out to sea
Borne on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find
Too late, the prophets [profits] cry
The island is sinking let us take to the sky

I read both the HB2929 and SB1801 Bills and they are excellent! They address all of the major concerns that have been voiced by both the cannabis users and non-users alike. Both sides are included in detail.
Everyone should read them and listen to the Massachusetts hearings.
If you are tired of seeing non-violent people filling prisons and tired of your tax dollars being wasted, send a copy of the bills to your govt officials -- push for them to pass similar legislation.

it may not be happening where I live. but the more it happens elsewhere, the more likely the state i live in will say "oh look, another product we can profit off of and not spend so much damn money on arresting nonviolent stoners anymore."
