That's pretty good. I have the dmix300 and everytime I scratch I get this funny feedback noise. to make it stop I just hit the cue button. Any Idea what that could be? I had this unit for 3 years. I'm just starting to get into scratching now that I've watched some of the dj videos. I'll probably get a set of turntables because I have a spare mixer that is just sitting in the box in the corner.
@MrSirjamalot I must be pretty lucky because I haven't had the problems other people have had with things not working on this unit. I did experience problems with channel (L/R) loss after several mobile gigs; If your warranty has expired, take the bottom plate off and make sure the white plastic connectors are snug and secure on the circuit board. I've done that twice and it always works for me. The Numark CDX had this same simple fix.
@stealthde1 Actually, I've heard complaints about the dmix 600's workmanship and to be honest when I hooked up a keyboard to it, you could only see it on the right deck. Otherwise, everything else worked on my unit and if you practice enough on it there are some routines that could be achieved. Sight cueing for the most part is not an option here, but you could memorize the number of revolutions to get back to your starting point. The dmix 600 does not have a breaking feature, either.
@rickydfcc77 Hey ricky. R u still using this unit or did you sell it off? I've been working through some of its technical flaws. I discovered the secret to dual searching.
1) Do not use NTFS formatted devices. Use FAT32 formatted devices.
2) Use a Windows PC not a Mac to transfer music and create databases for your devices
3) USB memory sticks work best.
4) iPods work great as long as they are older generations. iPhone do not work. You can get dual search capability with these
PS.7) Analog inputs and 2 channel mixer (providing it has power) will often still work even if the music freezes in play from your Mass Storage Device (MSD)
@djshorte1971 I'm not sure how American Audio CDJs feel...I would put the Cortex just under Pioneer's CDJ-800 or Numark's Axis-9. The Cortex Pad is dependable, but has a feel all unto itself; a true DJ will bond with his/her unit and make it respond as best they can consistently. Any Hip-Hop Dj can use my video as a template to see how well they can cut up Peter Piper on whatever units they possess.
@proonehander The pitch control is +/- 24% with or without Key-lock. When I click on your name or your icon, Youtube tells me your channel is unavailable, which makes me wonder why I can't see your channel.
@notthemovie I got my unit in May of '09. I had to order it here in Philly because no one was carrying it, even though Sam Ash and Guitar Center both advertised it on their website. Out in the field, I use Serato, so the Cortex functions as my mixer and I have 4 dedicated flash drives going straight to it in case of Laptop failure (not likely, I have a Macbook Pro). Check the circuit boards under the bottom plate and make sure the snaps are secure if you have problems. Thanks

Way to go man! So cool. Awesome to see the dmix 600 being used for stratching. Most folks say it can't be used for that.
Really starting to unlike the potential of this unit myself. Still working through some more techy issues.

@stealthde1 using an iPod. However, they can be a bit flaky and cause the unit to freeze/crash/need multiple reboots.
6) a FAT32 formatted memory stick is really great. I've had almost no issues. They allow for dual channel search from same device.
This is a great unit to practice and record mixes at home with. Not quite ready to trust it in front of a live audience.
Ricky I agree this really isn't a unit for scratch artist DJs.

@proonehander What is a slowed mix? And why is your channel unavailable?
rickydfcc77 1 year ago
@rickydfcc77 by slowed i mean can you make the song play slowly, and i have no idea what you mean when you say my channel is unavailable...

Sick! I got the DMix-300. Keep up it bruh!
onit71 1 year ago
You really figured that thing out.
Nice.
I just got one awhile back and I'm still getting used to it.
Dont know how to use the cue points and stuff yet.
But it does everything that I needed it to (and almost too much more that I dont).
:)
Unfortunately mine seems to be quite buggy and they haven't updated the OS in almost 2 years.
Its still the best of all the similar machines though.
