Ameritards, in general, are one of the most undisciplined when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. I see so many people every day who are basically immobile, the sole reason appears to be they are FATBUCKETS. Also the amount of people in this country who abuse drugs/alcohol/food, has to be one of the highest in the world. Maybe the government should encourage insurance companies to give BIG discounts to their insured clients, for meeting certain health markers (weight, bp, nonsmoker,etc).

Please, do your part. Insurance companies are ripping you off!

Thankfully, I live in Canada, and I was able to use our wonderful medical coverage during such a tragic time. I have no idea what I would've done if I was living in the states at the time.
Why must people always criticize Americans?!?! My God, what do you want us to do??? People make mistakes, but it's always the American people's faults...
I'm really frustrated right now; I'm sorry if you take offense or anything (you shouldn't). But just try to think of it from our perspective for a minute. I mean, we're not like those stereotypes on TV and all of that. Most of us aren't.

We blame the Americans problems, on the Americans, its the way it is, if us Canadians blow ourselves up, who's fault is it? Its the Canadians fault. Americans have horrible health care, its their fault.
Sounds like you should have read things alot better. I took care of myself by being informed and well insured. Think it was hard seeing someone outside of what the insurance wanted you to see? Gov't insurance would be 10x worse. People who do this to themselves deserve no sympathy. Americans should not be living paycheck to paycheck, stop buying things you cannot afford and asking others to bail you out.

Government medicare in Australia works extremely well. In Australia we believe that health is a human right, not merely for the well-healed. Tanya, I hope you are not one day in need of compassion, because you certainly don't seem able to show any.
Is that the simple solution you offer? You may think you are well insured like most people do until they are faced with a disease that your insurance won't cover (i.e. luekemia if you are over the age of 50) or lack of good doctors and nurses that will take care of you when you are coming out of surgery. Don't kid yourself and think you have the answer, because if you find yourself in a yarn of red tape from your insurance co. you are going to want some sympathy.
