The total war engine doesn't work on an individual squad basis (5-10 men). Would not be an accurate representation.

If you want a real tactical WW2 game then check out the Close Combat series.

It is the same basic engine, as the total war engine used in Empire. BUT you'll get new skins, new formations probably and maybe like new factions and stuff. Stand Alone games are not really expansions... look up Supreme Commander, and its Stand Alone and you'll know what I mean.

Napoleon was completly outnumbered and he defeated 5 European Coalitions including Russia and Ottoman Empire. He lost only 1 battle against the 7th (Waterloo) whereas his army was made of parisian civilians recruited on the late that had no military experience.

However, I believe Creative Assembly is attempting t right all the wrongs of E:TW, very buggy. Sega should issue a formal apology for releasing E:TW way too early (beta version?) and give everyone who bought E:TW a free copy of Napoleon:TW.

Why isn't this an expansion? Half the factions were still using the same tactics and equipment as in Empire at this stage, and wouldn't really change much until after the Crimean War. It was a big part of why Napoleon was great, he was willing to innovate new tactics and not rely on tried-and-true technoques.

I've played all of the total war series: starting with Shogun Total War, Medieval TW, Rome TW, Medieval2 TW, then...Empire.

From all of them, EMpire is the weakest one..

Rome and Medieval 2 and Shogun were amazing, empire disappointed me a little bit.

Yes they probably should, and yes it would probably be awsome. But I cannot for the world imagine that it would be any good at all. So far the TW-series has been about tight formations, close combat(excluding Empire), and ancient battle tactics.

During WW I and II, those formations disappeared. WW I is more or less the last war where they used long lines of men charging towards the enemy.

However, if they manage to pull it off in some ingenious way, I'll be firstman to the store =)

I really liked rome totalwar, what I would like to see is Rome totalwar 2, With lots of improvments and better grapichs. With Asia and Afrika on the map. And I would like to see tribes aswell as factions. And please let all of scandinavia be a part of the map. I would like to see lots of historical tribes on the map, and much more things to do.
