@jsalafaduez That was a pretty great mix, I was starting to get jaded in general about the wub-wub variety, because the market is so saturated with Skrillexy-growl-rave stuff because so many are trying to emulate him (he's the only one actually good at it, imo), but this goes back to the basics with the focus on sub-bass and drums with the wubs coming secondary and complimenting them. (Also, disagree about Borgore, I don't think one artist can be their own genre haha but otherwise I agree.)

@jsalafaduez I personally view 'chill' songs in each EDM genre like a fusion of chillout (a proven, large genre) and whatever the genre is (be it dubstep, d'n'b, house, etc). Totally fine to categorize songs by their sound though (you could almost call them personal 'microgenres', I dunno). Dubstep has splintered to a point where calling all of it dubstep isn't a great idea in my opinion, but, when I think about it, iTunes categorizes it either into Electronic or Dance, so perspective helps.

@jsalafaduez It's definitely 'chill', but none of these genres exist. Just because an artist applies a certain aesthetic/mood/etc to a genre doesn't automatically make it its own genre. That being said, there should definitely be a distinction between, say, Skrillex-style wub-growl dubstep and, for example, an artist like James Blake (the term 'brostep' for Skrillex doesn't really cut it as it's usually used in a derogatory way). Those two have stylistic differences enough for distinct genres.

@bromaier I do totally agree with you mate, except Borgore and his gorestep, all kind of sub-genres are totally fake. But in the case of dubstep and drum'n'bass, you can consider the chill sections as complete genres : liquid-funk for example have nothing to do with violent d'n'b and what I call chillstep does mean artists like Mundo, Kode9, Buckfunk 3000, Kromestar etc. who make tracks have also nothing to do with violent Bar9, Cookie Monsta or Doctor P's tunes.
