  • I don't look for emails on youtube so didn't see this reply for some reason. Let me put it this way.... you can't take these comments too seriously. Good people post good comments even if they are critical. Some of us just like to show off our stuff, some just want to be better than others and some are actually trying to help others. You can't believe everything you read on the internet. The best way to do some things is to follow codes. I see lots screwed up by so called contractors.

  • FOLKS PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND NEVER AND I MEAN ......NEVER DO A JOB LIKE THIS WITHOUT WEARING RUBBER GLOVES.. AND NUMBER 2... YEAH THAT IS WHAT HE TOUCHED WITH HIS BARE HANDS..AND MOST LIKELY A HAM SANDWICHE AFTER PATTING HIMSELF ON THE BACK FOR HIS OUTSTANDING JOB... AND NEVER EVER USE SILICONE CAULKING AT THE BASE OF A TOILET BECAUSE IT HIDES AND HOLDS WASTE WATER PROBLEMS BACK BY A WORN WAX RING THUS ROTTING OUT HIS FLOOR. WHICH I TRUST HE USED GERMICIDAL BLEACH FOR THE MOLD SPORES..

  • @ThePigfloyd I'd say that you're a germophobe. I'm a 60 year old plumber and usually only wear gloves to protect my hands from being cut. I've never been sick from contact with "yuk" on a job. You learn how to handle things without using your hands, never touch anything not job related until you wash hands thoroughly. Even with gloves you're going to get bacteria and viruses all over you when you pull them off. Tools will have "nasty" all over them.

  • @aNuthaRedneck getting bacteria and viruses all over when you pull them off ? ? ? yeah, maybe if you snap them off using your teeth. You roll and tuck one in another. I am NO Germophobe.. screw the germs ... i am talking about the sticky wax ring + the mess of trying to wash off that sticky thing in the sink. i guess when your customer gives you a check, it will stick to your hands. i am also talking about keeping a clean appearance when the gloves come off... im not here to argue.

  • @ThePigfloyd Sealing under a toilet keeps out water from the sink, tub/shower, and toilet overflows. Either argument is valid. Many plumbers will caulk/silicone toilets to keep them level and stop the rocking rahter than shimming. Everybody is a pro... right?

  • @aNuthaRedneck Silicone to keep a toilet level ? ? Really ? ? Silly me, shower curtains don't keep the water in the shower ? ?.. water from the sink too ? ?.How much water are we talking about ? ? is SHAMU at the sink ?? yeah we wouldn't want water going under the toilet from a shower or sink. NO, seal it all up and lets rott out the floor when the wax ring fails, and not use plastic shims or tighten down the toilet bolts for that matter.Wouldn't want natural air flow in that gap now.

  • @ThePigfloyd I love it when perfectionists criticise. You use a putty knife to remove wax rings. No need to you your hands for any of that. And yep... water comes from everywhere in bathrooms and kitchens. I love replacing floors in kitchens and baths... it's 75% of what I do for a living.

  • @aNuthaRedneck 3rd generation from a grandfather who practically shoved my face in the damn toilet, so I pretty much cut my teeth in the biz..He taught me plumbers are like chefs in a kitchen, don't blame the baker when the butcher baked the bread. Only one chef belongs in the kitchen. and no i dont use putty knives and 2 , so far I am a Germophobe, a perfectionist and now a putty knife user,, you hurt my feelings son, but I like you..i too replace kitchens and baths, it's my passion,

  • @aNuthaRedneck just remember that you started with the criticism. i never once called you names or incinuated that your something your not. Funny how people are quick to judge but they can't take the heat back... And I still did it without once name calling. And NO, water don't have to come from everywhere in bathrooms and kitchens, it comes from one source at each basin point, and it drains respectively. Self contained if the job is done right. check for leaks when you clean and your ok..

  • @ThePigfloyd You're right, everyone else is wrong and you're better. Enjoy because you're so damn good and the only one who knows shit.

  • @aNuthaRedneck OK, LOOK,... You make some very good points, and not everyone can do what you can. It's like you said "everyones a pro right".. I am not great, I am not right and definately not better.. I could only hope to live 60 plus years like you. I apologize to you and i think its cool that you work on both baths and kitchens. the fact is that I know you care about your work and the quality involved. Your a good man and I get carried away at times, I need to work on me....forgive me...

  • good job. Nice and clean

  • @pcolalongfellow Thanks.

  • Great job, how did you mount those new side beams at 3:35? It doesn't seem like there's much for them to connect to...?

  • @SH1051 i mounted them to the main floor beams with 2 screws at each end.

  • @SH1051 sometimes you have to attach a nub board as I call it to the beam there that you will attach your new floor to. DOes that make sense?

  • @pcolalongfellow - It does make sense, thanks!

  • And what if you had to cut through important beams underneath?

  • @paizley11 well i din't have to cut through them but the floor was resting on the beams. all you have to do for that is adjust the saw blade to the thickness of the floor so you just cut the floor and not the beam, so if you have a 1" floor just adjust the blade to 1" or a little less past the guard

  • Ok....so, first turn off the valve right under the toilet? Then you vacuumed out the remaining water? Couldn't you just flush whats in there out instead of vacuuming? It wouldn't fill up again if the valve is off right? I really don't know, but it seems like that would work. I know when my electric goes off and the well can no longer pump that's what happens when we flush.

  • @paizley11 yes turn the valve off first wich turns off the water, then i flush the toilet, but there is always some water left if the reservoir and the bowl, so i just suck it up.

  • Excellent video and great work.

  • @TheGrunge619 thanks, i still can't believe i got it done. it's not perfct, i did some mistakes but it works i guess lol

  • I got most of the tile off,and the wood that is closest to the tub is like mulch. I have a wall unit shower, should I worry about the floor under the tub? And for that matter is there wood under it in the first place?

  • @Gluv22 well to tell you the truth i know nothing about home improvements, but i can only assume that there is wood under the tub and if it was rotten beside the tub theres a chance its rotten under, but like i said i don't know anything about this sorry.

  • @Gluv22 yes their is flooring under the tub the tub is bolted and sealed to the floor if its rotten around it then mostlikely its under it also and im a contractor if you were curious

  • @Gluv22 may god be with you

  • Marry me!!!!

  • @Gluv22 lol one of the most random comments i've ever had, but sorry im already married

  • @superdelsol my loss :(

  • Thx. Nice work

  • its gonna happen again. why? The wax ring goes on the TOILET first, not the floor.

  • bbaahhhh hahahahh noooooooo :-(

  • dude...I think you need to quit tossing smurfs in your back tank. friggin shitter water is so blue!

  • yummy mold. I am gonna have to do the same work to my shitter in the near future.
