• The Moody Blues very best !!!

  • Owsley Stanley, Artisan of Acid, Is Dead at 76

  • Great , great song ! -- Great Super -Group ! Times when musicians

really WORKED hard and produced one great album after another...

Super classsic rock.. only inspired through dedication, creativity and most of

all really hard work... to be that great -- groups worked hard,,, it did not just

fall in their lap nor were they one hit wonders... They constantly worked and worked.... New musicians need to learn that concept... everything great comes

through toil and work... that's realtity !

  • I think his life was a testament to the idea that adult humans take this life way too fuckin' seriously, but none of them seriously care about life. Order, profits, how can we control your minds tonight, how can we stop you from opening your mind tomorrow, how can we think for you, why can't you just do what you're told?

  • An interesting person. A life of tragedy. I met him in 1981, and we spoke for a few minutes. Sad that he snitched on the very lawyers who helped him to avoid prison, and another time, snitched on the Weather Underground who got him out of prison.

  • :P

  • very nice montage of an incredible man with a pioneering and outrageous plan.

i wish i could've met the likes of him.

let some say negative things about him, no matter.

    i kick back and imagine.

  • All of the dangers which you have feared are unnecessary productions of your mind. Whether you experience heaven or hell, remember that it is your mind which creates them...

  • one of the few sane and well educated people who ever lived.

  • Right or wrong you are a legend Tim wish I'd seen you when you were in Melbourne

  • Happy Birthday Timothy!

  • Timothy Leary died in 1996 and this song was writtin in the 70th's

  • @lynnedufresne no it was 1968 in the 80s dr. tim was useing this music as an introduction when he gave lectures also give peace a chance he didnt talk about lsd much more about migrateing to other planets when dr. tim died the moody blues recorded timothy learys alive i wonder what happened to that recording john lodge said in his filmfax interview thAT HE DIDNT TAKE LSD WITH THE OTHER GUYS IN THE GROUP .

  • @lynnedufresne This song was on the 1968 album, "In Search of the Lost Chord."

  • Great song by Moody Blues for Timothy Leary visual.

  • @Crow8 LSD open's the mind to peace, not war...Bush,Harper and most of the business men of this world shoud try it....

  • @lynnedufresne The byrds were cut out of monterey pop proportedly because crosby said take acid and storm the white house but if you listen to the recordings in here he didnt say that he said paul mcartney said if presidents took lsd there would be no war and president kennedys assasination was a conspiracy which is not good advice in the former and wrong in the later .

  • Can someone explain to me where this bullshit idea about LSD being good comes from? Also, what benefits does it have?

  • @dancedanceterminator lysergic acid is actually non toxic than the over the counter asprin,(i know it's named acid but acid has a deeper meaning) it has no beneficial med effects tho. all the propaganda saying it screws chromosomes, stays in you forever etc is all false. other than being a fun psychedelic there are no benefits but note drugs are not to be abused as are other things like alchohal fast food etc. but honestly man mande drugs ruins lives. stick to cannbis for its a herb not a drug

  • @dancedanceterminator If you ever tried it you wouldn't have to ask...........

  • @dancedanceterminator

LSD has the potential to show you things about the nature of realit, your own reality, that you never imagined you had the capacity to perceive. It doesn't just GIVE you answers, it offers the necessary questions that somehow we've forgotten to ask since moving from childhood. It takes away the part of your mind that rationalizes away the 'magic' behind the scenes we see from day to day. and Holy Fuck my brother, there is Magic.

  • This song reflects back to me everything I think about death - it makes me think of my grandad, who loved music, and reminds me of him.

  • awesome song, the moody blues are a great band, cool video too!

  • All I can say is "Tune in, Turn on, Dropout". As a person who started high School in 1969, LSD, Mescaline, and Peyote, done in the right environment, are very mind expanding and gave me revelations that I otherwise may never have experienced. Dr Leary was a genius and this song is a beautiful tribute to what he believed in.

  • This song was recorded in 67. He did enjoy the song, the moody blues were going to do a benefit to get him out of prison in 70 but the Weather Underground broke him out first. We loved Leary and the Weathermen for all they did, and tried to do.

  • looks for mr leary's stash of lsd.

  • timothy leary is insanely insane.. who ever thinks thats bad, you are outsane and are not sane my friend lol

  • reds we have fixers for reds now down at NPI UCLa

  • i love this song thanks for sharing!!!

  • the only one

  • fantastic person,bye tim rip

  • I attended a couple of Dr. Leary's lectures and always found this song so relevant to the liberation of our minds from all the nonsense dogma and controllers of human freedom.

  • Oh sorry Officer , thats not my license , thats my Timothy Leary-Trip of the Month Card .....

  • No it was made before he died - it's about being dead in the mind or not :) C

  • Great slideshow! Thanks a lot for sharing this!

  • Yeah.

  • Anybody see TL in Cheech and Chong's 'Next Movie'? He was a trip.

  • that flute sounds just like the end of if 6 was 9

  • Thank you. I feel better now.

  • turn on, tune in, and drop out!

  • I got...high from this song...is that possible???

    LOL!

    RIP Mr. Leary

  • @handofnergal agreed this song is trippy as fuck lmfao

  • I got...high from this song...is that possible???

    LOL!

    RIP Mr. Leary

  • Contrarywise Mr Dbum, society is foolish, the brave individual who tries to do their own thing is to be commended - not ridiculed.

  • 1.44 and 2.22...

incidentally, "timothy leary" is an anagram of

    "thy royal time"

  • Timothy Leary wrote the book: Varieties of Psychedelic Experience based upon the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

    5*****

  • @slubberde Pink Floyd wrote "Dogs"

  • i agree with bluelotusdevi! I love Timothy Leary, wish he was still around in my prime time of love and spirituality. He wouldn't make me feel terrible for wanting what I want. if that makes sense. his loves lives on :)

  • He's amazing.... wish i'd been alive during his time! i tried out his instructions in 'the psychedelic experience'... the experience was incredible and beautifuly enlightening

  • hey ,all those painting at the end where they from?

  • Ah,the seventies...

    Thanks.

  • Go to your window pane and type his name in Wikipedia. And by the way, the hippies WERE right......and the establishment was wrong, at least that's what Lucy told me when I asked her about the sky with diamonds. Live long my friend.

  • Gawrsh I love this mAn

  • I bet when he died his mind went off in a trip. he found the ultimate out of body experience, as his ashes float around in space, his mind is even higher.

    R.I.P Timothy Leary

  • I ain't talkin' 'bout no revolution! I ain't talkin' about no demonstration! I'm talking about having a good time. I'm talking about having a good time this summer!

  • His legacy, I believe, will be looked upon as a mixed bag; while he did help popularize LSD (which was a good thing), he was too much the showman, having lost the objectivity which made him a good researcher. In the long run, he may have set back research, which is only now making its way back into the mainstream, but has years to go, before it gains credibiliy with all but a slice of the medical community, which is the prelude to acceptance as a sacrament (which would be very good thing).

  • True, true, but hindsight is 20/20. I think he had a vision, a very potent idea how he wanted society to change. Unfortunately the idea was a bit naive, I don't know if Tim was, but times changed and his influence diminished. Perhaps he should have foreseen the "end of the 60's" but he was so caught up in the momentum that he had a hard time to look objectively at things. I think he gave himself wholly to the Idea of a spiritual Revolution en masse. It was both foolish and brave.

  • timothy leary , never born ,never died just visited the planet for a while.....love

  • Great Man.Great Band.

  • 59,666 views. Hell yeah baby!

  • his biography is phenomanal. i can't believe he broke out of prison.

  • And only the Moody Blues could do this song.

  • Hi. Like a curiosity. This music was made after his death and he didn't liked what this music said about him.

But,wathever, this is a great music that remind us about his great life and fight!

  • I don't know what you mean by "this music was made after his death" This track was released in 1968 & Timothy Leary didn't die until 1996. The song is more allegorical than literal with a number of 60's lsd / pop culture references.

  • this song was produced while he was quite ALIIVE!

  • he is still alive

  • @internash he lives in all of us

  • @Intergalaxy Wrong. He was still alive when this was made back in the mid 70s or so--it was about the end of psychedelia. Look it up; Leary died much later, in the early 90s or so?

  • @Intergalaxy This song came out in 1968 Leary died in 1996

  • @Intergalaxy song was done late 60's, Leary was still alive and in his prime, apparently one of his works was called something like the book of the dead, the lyrics "timothy learys' dead", refer to this book and not that hes dead

  • Not after his death

    Moody Blues 1967-68

    He died in 1996

  • Music to die for......great video.....works of genius.......love it all.....THANK YOU!

  • gotta love this dude

  • To be honest, the little man who sold you thrills along the pier never really excited me that much, but this track, and in particular the instrumental section in the middle, is superb.

  • I wonder what Leary himself thought about this?

  • orange sunshine during 1970 was best

  • he was a really brave person...the things that tried to teach us will stay in history..

  • the time is now

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Intergalaxy: This is still one of the best videos on youtube!

  • Thank you for this gem of a video. It stands alone.

The next time you consider yourself outside, look carefully..

  • Best song EVER.

  • wow thanks

  • I read an article years ago that said TL was very popular with the other inmates when he was in prison. He was thought of as a great guy who helped people with their problems whenever he could. I can't remember what magazine it was or when it was written, but I thought all you Timothy fans out there might appreciate the insight.

  • Tim was a very charismatic guy!

  • tycovai, 20 hours, fuck that, 8 to 12 hours, stop drinking the antifreeze in the garage, Cheers to the Moody Blues and to Leary

  • Hi Tim, I know your energy is floating around out there, love you so much. Im loving how I was illuminated.

  • Excellent1

  • There are some amazing chemists out there right now. It would seem to me that they have gone back to the original recipe. The stuff now is the best I've had ever and I started in 1975. 20 hour trips. R.I.P. Tim.

  • Yeah.

  • I hate religion.

  • pied piper.

  • this is the best tribute song ever. no other song dedicated to another person is even half as excellent as this song. no other song.

  • 30 years for a pot bust? I know why he was so dangerous Love and peace Tim

  • This is what we need today to get us back to what we should be!!! This took us out of vietnam and today our insain President is pushing us toward WWIII!!! WWIII will end our time hear on Earth!! Lets stop this Insanity!!

  • lets start a salvia organization, someone needs to spark it. imagine the things that could happen if we got active. whoa dude.

  • I'm down.

  • Love the proto-rave beat at the end...

    needs a remix...

  • yea dude for sure

  • trippy

  • He was a good man!

  • Maybe this song was the homage to Leary you all seem to hear, but I detect a touch of irony: "Along the coast you'll hear them boast", "trips around the brain [aka a touristy trip around the bay]", etc.

Above all, "Brings you back the same day" is definitely taking the piss. There are no guaranteed returns from Acid, and even if you do get back you may have to pass through eternity on the way.

Leary was interesting, Dr Death less so, but Acid is something altogther different...

  • im pretty sure "trips around the brain" is refering to hallucinations

  • Trips around the bay not brains

  • The Government made up all of the negative side effects of LSD! Timothy Leary lived well into his 70's and was very cognizant of what was going on in the world! Most people in their 70's are in poor health and suffer Alzheimer's!

  • I know it is incredible how less is known about these sacraments and their history instead cultural myth's and prejudice. Prohibition and mass hysteria hasn't saved anyone in my humble opinion and clearly doesn't work. From my personal experience, reading The Psychedelic Experience, Tim Leary's Tibetan book of the dead inspired manual or sort of map through the psychedelic state was actually very calming and insuring to my mindstate at the time and led me down

  • i allways came back the same day

    never had a bad trip

i think it depends on the individual

    peace

  • If you feel, see, and hear it, it is reality for you. How can you get out, but have never been in?

  • wish i could have known him.

  • Thanks for the trip around the bay with Tim Leary and the Moody Blues. Man, I'm in 7th Heaven! May GUS (Great Unbelievable Spirit) Bless All Of You!

  • He's died as he's lived!

  • Before the people of Earth can join the Galactic neighborhood, people of Earth need to become spiritually active. Timothy Leary understood this!!

  • Before the People of Earth can join the Community beyond earth we must become more spiritual. Timothy Leary understood this!

  • This sounds like the "left minus right" mono mix of the "In Search of The Lost Chord" version. The instruments are a bit quiet.

    Good slideshow though

  • no no no no he's outside.... looking in!

  • its the "outside out" policy to be precise...a great attempt at taking an elevator to the moon indeed...FUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT!

  • theky69 no way of knowing what religion<<

I can dig ya real deep man. There is something we miss here isn't there? We can neither prove or disprove who really spoke to God or not. I mean, maybe there is a theology out there where God really did tell someone what is to be done! How can we be certain?

  • the only thing we can be certain of is energy, and it can never be created or destroyd and that we are energy...so we have always been here...so we in essence are god....maybe not the most inteligent expression,at this current state...but we are source energy....and hell is only there if we think it is,for thoughts manifest...so we make our reality over time.....mine has a "heaven" in it no hell....what are you all manifesting?

  • I wish all could accept the fact we have know way of knowing for sure the existance of our being in this life, and that most of our problems can be solved with "the divinity that lies within" but not solved by man-made religion telling us what god or gods want us to do without question.

  • If what Timothy Leary says is true then religion is all not real.

  • Religion, or god?

  • If what I say is false then religion is completely true.

  • challenge authority !!

    give em LSD!!!

  • turn on, tune in, drop out............damn I wish I lived his life. If I dropped today I dont know what would happen.....I'd probably wig out

  • we neeed to have peaceful times again

  • indeed my friend

  • i love this song ,

    timothy was half human

    a visionary by one .

    best wishes from peru

  • We need a man like Dr. Leary for todays time!!!! God it would make our time more beautiful!!!

  • instead we got people telling us weare not to smoke etc.!!

  • very much needed and appreciated ty peace

  • Dr Leary was trying to explain vertual reality to bunch of dummies at the Whole Life Ex, San Francisco, 1991. He went outside for a ciggie and we all gathered around the great man. I was able to ask him, "is what you're talking about like in the movie "Brainstorm" and he exclaimed, "yes!" It was a true Hellen Keller moment.....loved that man.

  • WAKE UP!!!!!!!

    THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!!

    Be Here Now!!!

    timothylearyrip

  • turn on, tune in, drop out, is there life after youth?

today I'm 51! I SHOULD drop some acid then maybe this rap crap, "high" versus "ola" would make some sense..thanks for the tune..we should all listen to the tunes of our "youth"...

  • Tune up...let go...

  • This is one of the Best Videos I've seen! You are Very Talented.

My son came home from college for a vist this summer and tuned me on to this.

Your video was my first "You Tube" experience. Thks & Wow:-D

  • Far out we all miss you Tim

  • right on man

  • Very nice work. Thanks

  • Down with the New World Order, Up with Love!

  • @ yodalantern

'Down with the New World Order, Up with Love!'

But that would make love the New World Order. Best to leave it and go back to the land. The time will come when you will see 'civilazation' for the illusion it is and move on. You can start your own if you have the willingness to sacrifice the 'comforts' that are offered by the New World Order. I can leave the hustle and bustle and the fancy technology behind on a seconds notice. Can you?

  • nice

  • turn on tune in take controll

  • Thank U

    &

    Smile In Peace ( s.i.p.)

  • "Turn on, tune in, drop out."

  • hey that work of art of a girl with a river flowing from her mind, who created that? I'd like to get a copy of that somewhere.

  • Dont know so much about T.Leary, but what he was "preaching" seems to be righ for me. Want to learn more bout this ma..Orbit in peace.

  • Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out indeed.......

  • Thank You, Galaxy.

  • Pretty trippy video. I saw Tim speak in person twice. The first time was in 1967 at a lecture at UCLA. He was dynamic, and charismatic, with a compelling message. Years later I saw him again in Trenton, NJ at City Gardens where he was touring and debating G. Gordon Liddy, I believe. He was pretty much a broken man, by then--a result not of his prodigious drug use, but rather the unending harassment and torture at the hands of the US criminal justice system.

  • Touch this spot, reader, and remember. ( • )

  • thanks for the pictures and music...

    i never forget his smile...

psychic greetings to psychic friends of ... and Timoty

  • he was a great man

    greater than a few presidents

may the force be with him

psychic greetings to all friends and fans of his books

and life... god bless the free man...

  • Tune in... Turn on... Drop a 4-way double barrel Orange Sunshine...

  • OMG I thought I was the only person left who knew about 4-way dbl barrel orange sunshine! (Plus, I first owned this song on an EIGHT TRACK.) I'll just limp off to the tar pit now...

  • @rei8 Purlple Owsley
