Do you have to be enrolled with ur 3822 to do gliding and shooting, and do you need to be 1st class or above, i want to do it but i think you have to be at least be 1st class. also do u have to do training before you acc go in the plane??
@MsDrums123 for gliding you just need to have done part of your first class. for shooting you just need a WHT (Weapons handling test) which should be conducted on squadron. and all the training you need for flying will be done in the plane, you will just have a quick brief beforehand :)
@TheRealMacoy10 its best to join urself coz u get noticed quickly and people end up never turning up so your on ur own, best to make new friends there :)

Hey from 1110 Ashington Sqn ATC :) We get to fly at RAF Topcliff and Leeming (Glidng and powered respectively) and we have our own .22 range on our Sqn. I'm currently transferring my L98A1 qualification to the A2. I'm also in charge of radio training at my Sqn and I look after a lot of the probationers. I'm only 15 and I've been in for 2 years XD
Greetings from 7 Squadron (City Of Hamilton) Air Training Corps in New Zealand! Man you guys are lucky buggers, you get to do shooting with SA80s, we have to use Norinco .22s in NZ. So you guys actually got to fly in Tornadoes? Shit, you also have Air Cadet planes, I guess that's because you get government funding, unlike us.
No shouting at single cadets is banned. However, it is acceptable to shout to get their attention or over distance. It is also OK to shout at groups of them, but not at close quarters.
thanks but i'll be one for at least 2 years now. they only give sgt if your 16+ . most of our cpls are 15/16, but i am under scrutiny at the moment due to events i won't go into but in short, they aren't sure whether i am mentakky mature enough. you know, i don't understand things the way there meant to be cos im 14. all wonderful :)
I Have To Put My Name Down Tomorrow For Flying And Gliding.. and Im Bricking It..! Lol... I'll Try It.. I'm Still Sticking To Air Cadets Though Cos I Have So Much Fun On The Camps And Such So One Thing Aint Puttin Me Down :L
Flying, Gliding and Shooting were by far the best things about ATC. Unfortunately i'm too old now but enjoy them when you can. I greatly recommend aerobatics in the Grob.
i hate flyin... yet im in air cadets? i have no idea why i joined AIR cadets and im afraid of flyin... lol... stupid mistake... also i got flying sooonn... AHHHHH 2229 squadrom..! Cdt Hingston
This is my sqn video, ive been in cadets for 4 years now and im the same as you! i hate flying, ive never been gliding and my officers and mates have only managed to get me in a plane twice...and i did get a pretty good griffin flight in cyprus. But hey its not all about the flying there is sooooo much more you can do, im pretty sure ive done most things you can do with cadets and i feel im a better person for it! Just give everything ago, it all pays off in the end!
well seen as though there are more air cadets than RAF personell theres bound to be shit loads of us and anyone going to beckingham 23rd to the 30th this month if yar email me coz i am too!
you are thinking of the whole ACO just Cadets on it self will only come to about 40,000-42,000 cadets, but yes we do out size the RAF with adult staff and civ com
Some things to remember. Work hard, Play hard. If you dont ask, you dont get. You get out what you put in. And finally, seek and you shall find. All the best to all you Air Cadets - enjoy and love life. Take all the opportunities you can while you are there, but make sure you give something in return. p.s Never forget Team Work. The RAF form 3822 is the little blue book that identifies you as a cadet. Every cadet carries it on all cadet activities. You'll be issued one by the Commanding Officer of the squadron, you'll have to fill it in and put a passport sized photo inside the front page. You'll also have to fill in an additional form that'll be kept on the squadron as a record of your details, exam results etc.
I just noticed that your profile says you're 28. If this is accurate it means you are too old to be a cadet. You can however volunteer as a Civilian Instructor, and in time perhaps become an Adult Sergeant or an officer.
would some tell me if it is worth me joining the ATC? There is a wing near me and I would like people who are already recruits to give me their opinions!
It depends on what you're looking for. I've been a member of the ATC since I was 13 and two months old, I'm now 22! In my opinion the Air Training Corps is the finest youth organisation going, providing more exciting and character building opportunities than any other.
Thats awsome.. nice job on the video. Hoping to come see what cadets is like over there in eighteen months with teh IACE program that the air force cadets are running in austalia.

Very nice video. I'm currently making a video myself for my squadron '1322 (Newton Abbot) Sqn down in South Devon. But yeah nice video and nicely put together!
