  • erm......

  • Lord Fry? is that a nickname? XD

I knew they had said it before, and yes, it was funnier when Alan said it!

  • Anyone know what the Latin Stephen said means?

  • @andrepfat Thanks! :D

  • @RokiaNY Its Italian actually. "Se non è vero, è ben trovato." Even if its not true, its a good story.

  • Fry recycled this joke, I like Alan's telling better.

  • Last night I could have swore I hear this before im releaved now.

  • Good! I was worried Stephen was telling a joke he had told before, but as it turns out they had stolen Alan's.

  • Priceless Alan-ending. I can't really spell it out phonetically but ~"ss-uh, thank you." Replay-repeat.

  • I remember my biology teacher telling this anecdote in 1991. It's still funny, so I see no harm in repeating it. I can imagine that the Qi elves change between seasons, so they may have missed this one. embarrassing, but no real harm done. Loosen up ppl.

  • So far eleven people have been correctly observant :o)

  • I don't believe Fry stole the joke as of course it's one Alan heard from the 'net. But why tell a joke already said by a contestant previously?

However, they must have been in on it as in the episode it cuts to Alan Davies looking a bit miffed

  • From Alan's twitter:

Ha! Yeah,a big ol rumble. It's a story I picked up somewhere.Lord Fry doesn't write the script or do the research, not his fault

  • @cmt869 LOL, that is awesome.

  • I'm not offended on Alan's behalf or anything, I was just really confused. It seemed awkward how they cut back to Alan after Stephen told the joke. In any case, it's a fairly funny gag.

  • AHahahahah! The very last bit was priceless... ''Yea- The- The- Thank you.''

  • Here's my opinion on it, since everyone seems to want to weigh in. 1) It is not an original joke from Alan, so he can't be too offended. 2) Alan told it much better than Stephen. 3) If all of us remember that the joke had already been used, the the good people of QI should have remembered (not least Stephen himself, who is brilliant in such memory) and not used it again. That's just my opinion.

  • @hestheman929 Yes! #3 is dead on, That's exactly what I thought too.

  • I can't believe people are making such a big deal out of this. It was obviously a mistake that the joke was repeated. It's not the end of the world. I mean, if it was an original joke by Alan, then I could maybe understand, but he clearly says that it's a joke that made the rounds online.

  • Fact of the matter is that this is a joke all over the internet, in fact it's a very common chain-mail joke. Fry could've heard it recently and just thought to have used it and have forgotten Alan had told it before. There're years between these two episodes, anyway.

Yet I agree, Alan told it better.

  • I only needed to hear that one the once. I'm still a bit disgusted. 8(

  • Poor Alan. Having that joke ripped out from right under his nose by Fry. I never imagined Fry would do something like that.

  • xD He'll mention that next episode =D

  • @IvyPianoMan Probably so.

  • Fry stol'd the joke and didn't remember! Ha, major points for Alan

  • Did you post this specifically because Fry used it at the end of last episode?

  • @LiquidYogi because a lot of people seemed butt-hurt about Fry telling it again, yes :/

  • i knew i remembered it from before

  • Alan told it better.
