@boruken To be frank, I would go into a store for a new phone. eBay can get messy. The LG Cosmos TOUCH is now the LG Extravert. The Octane is end of life and the Ozone is not around anymore. Go with the newest technology - the Extravert. It is a great compact phone with a nice touch screen, physical QWERTY keyboard. Camera is also a good feature. You can have a data package for as little as $10 a month so start there.
@redryderfcf You can enable a Recent Programs screen that displays last 8 progs used. Fr Home screen, click Start>Settings>Home Screen, select the Show Recent Progs check box. Enabling this screen takes you directly to the Recent Progs menu when you click Start.
Click Start from the Home screen Home panel to see the available programs on your phone. To see more progs, click More or use the NAV CONTROL. Press ENTER or press the shortcut keys W,E,R,T and A, S, D, F to launch a prog.
@redryderfcf Here's another-If you do not want to receive MMS messages from a particular sender, you can add the sender’s phone number to the MMS Blacklist.
When you receive a new MMS message, open and view the message.
To avoid receiving MMS messages from this sender next time, click Menu > Show > Message Detail.
On the Message Detail screen, click Menu > Show Contact Details.
Click Menu > Save to Blacklist, and then Click Done.
when you buyy a smartphone with the smartphone plan, what exactly is included in your smartphone plan? does it have internet and unlimited texting and i*m?
@102102syd Yes on the unlimited internet. As far as texting, that is different tthan data. Texting and IM'ing fall under Voice and Text plans. The minimum for talk and text is $59.99/450 minutes. so you will end up spending a minimum of $90 a month for unlimited data and texts but not voice.
I don't have the phone in front of me but you go to the contact you want to delete, click menu and edit and there should be a delete selection. If you want to add you go to contacts, menu and add new contact.
Yes, you can. I just checked out the Mobile Marketplace and it has both available there. If you want to see what programs or apps are available for the Windows Mobile devices, you can go to Handango or type Windows Mobile Marketplace into google and it'll give you the link for microsoft's page and you can see all the apps available.
I hear you, and totally used to agree. Now that I have been using it, I like it way better than Blackberry. Its more like using a laptop, which is the norm for me so its more natural to me I guess. Also, many people don't think there are alot of apps. There are tons at Handango.
Well, I'm sorry to say but in all reality, you probably wouldn't have a phone with WiFi that doesn't have a data plan. The reason being that the phones that tend to have WiFi are Smartphones and you are required to sign up for a data plan when you activate a Smartphone. So the question in that case becomes moot.
When I was with T-mobile I had the T-mobile dash and it has WiFi of course. I didn't have to get a data plan and I would use WiFi all the time and the phone work perfectly. Why is that we have to sign up for a data plan when you have WiFi on your phone that is going to work whether you have data plan or not.
This OZONE looks pretty good and a good price. I currently have an HP pda that I use for mostly for calendar and contacts. . Syncing with ms outlook. It also has ms mobile for documents and wi-fi which I use on occasion. My phone is a basic LG phone. I would like to get one device to replace these two devices. But I don't want to pay for internet when I have internet at home and work. What do you suggest?
Unfortunately this phone, because it is a Smartphone) is subject to the $30 data plan. And that's in effect whether you use the internet or not. You are going to run into that with all Smartphones and Blackberry's on Verizon Wireless. The only suggestion I could make if you don't want to be a victim of the data charge is the LG enV Touch. It has a document viewer for Microsoft docs, xls, ppt and pdf. It doesn't have the same caliber of contact and calender syncing though.
That is untrue. You can't block email and web from a Blackberry or Smartphone. I don't know why you'd want to, why would you get one if you didn't use it for email and web?
Anyway, just to be 100% sure, I just verified it with Verizon about smartphones in general and then specifically the Ozone. They all require data and they can not block email and web from them.
I have had 2 smartphones from Verizon and bought them without the data plan. You are not required to buy the plan. I have the smartphones because of the QWERTY keyboards and styles.
How long ago? Up until late last year you could get the Omnia without a data plan. I think that was the last phone you could do it with or it was a time thing. I know that used to be the case, which is why I confirmed it before I posted it.
I bought my last phone ( a Palm Treo) about 16 months ago, so yes, things may have changed. I hope not. I'm due to get another discounted phone with my "new every 2 yr" plan next month and do want the HTC Zone. I like the looks of it and the price. If I managed to get one from EBay and activated it through Verizon, would they make me get the data plan?
Unfortunately yes. All phones considered Smartphones are subject to that data plan. Many of their functions are completed by searching on-line so it can't be shut off. You said you like the QWERTY feature. There are a bunch of phones out now that have actual QWERTY keyboards but are not smartphones. For example LG enVTouch, enV3, Samsung Alias 2, Motorola Rival. Coming soon is the Samsung Rogue (don't think its considered a smartie) There are some virtuals too LG Dare, Versa, Motorola Krave.
Thsi is true. I had a blackberry a while ago, and did NOT have to pay for the internet. All i did was call and tell them I don't want the internet and presto: NO INTERNET CHARGE
thats not true because my moms samsung omnia has the internet blocked she blocked it for one month when she went on vacation she didnt want to do anyy business and its allowed i dont know who you spoke to they were just tyrna get ur money but u can do it
There was a time that the charge only applied to Blackberry's. I'm pretty sure the Omnia got grandfathered into not having to have it because I think that was either the last phone to not be subject to the charge or the first so they may have allowed her some special dispensation. I had the Omnia and thats about the time that they announced all smartphones going forward would be subject. Its probably the Omnia's fault because it does sooo much!
Not yet. They have recently announced that going forward, all Verizon Blackberry's will have WiFi. I'm still not 100% sure if that includes the Storm 2 or not.
Honestly, I recommend the Samsung Omnia. The camera is 5MP, the Browser is awesome and of course being a smartphone you can get your email on it. Oh and it has a really big screen. Hopefully you like Touchscreens or I'll have to recommend the Blackberry Tour.
Well, Ms. Chloe, which of the phones do you recommend i should get if i want; good messaging options, multitasking music, check my youtube account, good display, and good camera? Oh btw, 2 answer AllStarDeal79's question, I'm not paying for it.
My suggestion for a feature phone would be the enVTouch. Fantastic phone. 3.2MP AF camera w 1.6x zoom. Music multitasking, touchscreen or QWERTY texting. My suggestions for a Smartphone would be The Blackberry Tour or Storm. I think it mostly comes down to whether you like Touchscreen or not. I found the Storm hard to text on(yes-the dreaded nails get in the way!) but some people love it for texting. The Tour is fantastic if you like a full QWERTY keyboard. Bith good cameras& music multitasking
I wanted 2 get the ozone except 4 the fact that it needs the adapter 4 headphones. (and everything else) So now my 2 choices r; LG EnV3 or Blackberry tour.
The adapter comes with it and it has both 2.5 and 3.5mm slots, plus another charging port in the adapter so you can listen to music while you charge it. The Ozone and the Tour are both Smartphones so you have to pay the additional $30 for data. With the enV3 you don't have to have a data subscription at all, you can pay $1.99/MB, or get a VCast Vpak subscription for $15/mo.
not true. Touch doesn't have WiFi, WinMo Operating System, They are two very different animals. What the enVTouch does excel at is the camera. The Touch has a 3.2 Sneider Kruznach lens with flash and zoom and an array of editing options. The Ozone camera is only 2.0, no flash and no editing features.
except the Touch is not a smartphone. And it has a Verizon UI, not an Operating System that can be nicely synced with your PC for contacts, emails, word docs, xls files etc. The enVTouch does not have WiFi. As much as I like the enVTouch, its not as versatile as the Ozone. Sorry kids!
