The reason for the heavy line is because these fish are going to pull you down in all the vegetation and heavy cover. Ever seen some flip a craw in heavy mats? They'll use a 1oz weight and 65lb braid. Go try it with 10lb mono, you'll see.
you can buy already set up. they work great and unlike other weedless top water baits u can actually hook the fish most of the time. and im not too sure that u need 20 lb test that a lil overboard :/
becouse the fish are deep in strucher .. you need HEAVY line to pull them out and to the boat ... you would't throw finness worms at that heany of strucher.
The only surface lure i use is a jitterbug. The make the best for water adjitation. For using near weeds or lilypads, The have a rear bi hook and is semi weedless and works great!
I heard someone in a bait shop talking about using WD40; that's amazing, who would've thought that that would work, but I guess it smells good to them, kinda like how some people like the smell of gasoline. LOL
The YUM Buzz Frog is an excellent lure for all species of bass, but I'm not sure about catfish or carp. Normally those two species are livebait eaters. That's not to say that anglers won't catch the occassional catfish or carp on the unique lure, but it's intended for bass fishermen.
I used this frog before and honestly have to say the Zoom Horny Toad is much better. It's alot softer and just has a better action. The yum buzz frog is really stiff and runs crooked alot. I'd buy the zoom frogs and that's all you need.
idk i've tried both cuz i liked the results i got w/ both of em, after trying em for quite awhile i found i always get more bites and bigger bites with the buzzfrog
Great Product, I have put a ton of fish in the boat with the same frog, I enjoy using the Mustad 5/0 and normally skin hook the frog however I never thought to use it on a jig. Thx for the tips, keep them coming....
i live in new orleans and where i fish (lake ponchartrain) the spillways were opened up and we have water from the mississipi river spilling into the lake and killed fresh water and slt water fish.where do i find good fish with my problem?
i have been using this lure and the fish love it, i will go out when the sun is seting and fish for about an hour and get about 5-6 bites, literaly. i have one HUGE problem, i have caught NO fish, would you recomend anything else??
I don't do too well with these, they tend to right upside down 50% of the time, and I can never get the feet to work well. Try the stanley ribbit, strike king ragetail frog, or the zoom horny toad.

The ideal hook is a 5/0 heavy wire extra wide gap.

does it float
xiavangthao 4 years ago
The Buzz Frog does not float on its own, but its bouyancy allows it to get to the top and stay there with little effort.
pradco 3 years ago
