so far 2 F4s, 1 F3, 1 F1, and 1 F2 has hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama while New York City has been hit by 1 F2, 3 F1s, and 3 F0s. My point is...That both NYC and Tuscaloosa have the same frequency of tornadoes YET the twisters that hit tuscaloosa are more powerful and deadly than the ones in NYC (since 1950 6 people died form twisters in NYC while 47 died in Tuscaloosa).
Good question. I took it lees serious for sure because of the one on the 15th. I was on xbox live having a great old time. My bro/roommate warned me. "There is another tornado heading our way!" I played 2 more games and then checked to see what all the fuss was about. 2 mins later I was under my house with the wind from that monster licking my face. Me and my brother were fine, and our house survive. One block north of us was just gone. Debris from who knows where scattered in front
@adawg37 i live in gordo and i dont have a storm cellar... and since ttown was hit im terrified...... tomorrow its supposed to be thunderstorms same with tues. hopefullly nothing happens.. stay safe.
actually the path of this tornado was about 1 1/2 miles south of the F4 on 4/27. However, it is unbelievable less than 2 weeks apart the same city is hit. I am wondering how many people took the 4/27 tornado less serious because of this one passing through and doing little damage 12 days earlier....
That bitch was across the street from my house, but my whole neighbourhood was somehow untouched. And The tornado was at least a mile and a half from Hillcrest
This tornado is not from the major outbreak of 4/27/11. It occurred on 4/15 and was rated an EF-3 by the NWS. That said, it was very close to the path of the major tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa on 4/27/11.
So to the Corporate Offices of McDonald's I think your Manager and I feel so bad because with all of the commotion I didn't get his name, he was very good under pressure and making sure everyone in the store was safe, I truly think he deserves a raise and a recognition of his bravery. Thank you From the bottom of my heart Janet Fugate & Family. P.S. My Daughter will have a story behind her Junior Prom Dress to tell her Children one day. God Bless All
I would like to personally Thank James Spann and the Manager of the McDonald's on 69 S. My family and I were on our way to pick up our Daughter's Prom Dress from David's Bridal and we were listening to the radio only thinking it was going to be just Thunderstorms until James said Tornado on the ground at Shelton State and at the time we were right in front of Sheton State so I floored the car until we got to McDonalds we banged on the door, the Manager opened the door so that we could be safe.
This was very remniscent of the December 16th, 2000 tornado. Same camera, similar path that the tornado took. I was scared to death and worried about my friends at the University of Alabama.

This one will not be remembered as well because of what happened 12 days later.

@uaaerospace It is incredible that two tornadoes struck so close together in the same geographic area and were also so well documented on video.

I watched almost every second of their coverage for seven hours when they did not go off the air. There is NO ONE better for that kind of coverage.
