  • games awesome been a fav since i was a kid

  • I need this game on VC!!!!!!!!!

  • @Nibs08 Getting this the old fashioned way will cost you about 20 bucks. What's VC?

  • @TheLonelyImmortal the Wii's Virtual Console on the wii shop channel

  • I just remeber that this game was one of the most difficult Ive played

  • @TheEscoll Use Game Genie. That's what I do. Game Genie has saved many games from the trash :) Even Double Dragon III! I still avoid everything, but I don't die emotionally due to dying in-game :)

  • @TheLonelyImmortal really the game and many others were a cake walk. game genie ruins games if anything.

  • @ratix98 Well from what you say, it sounds like you personally, should not buy Game Genie. But for people like me, who don't buy games just for a big challenge to overcome, I should buy the game, because I play to enjoy myself.

Oh, and Game Genie can also make games harder. Some codes are designed to do that. In the Game Genie NES booklet, this is symbolized by a person wearing a blindfold, fyi.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal i had two game genies. i have two games that no longer work and i think it was the game genies that did it. they were battle toads on the genesis and zelda 2 on the nes. i really ment to say was the genie could damage the cart. im not all no cheating guys. i like to use exploits from time to time just not so much anymore.

  • @ratix98 Do you have an NES cleaning kit? I have only one game that just won't work no matter how much I clean it. But everything else works eventually. I've actually found that a game genie can actually help the game work sometimes. *shrugs* I don't think that a Game Genie can break a game, unless something's jammed inside the Game Genie, I guess.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal i have cleaned my nes with a cleaning kit and eventually went a step further and replaced the 72 pin loader. what i do know is the genie is supposed to make games work on the original nes because the PCB on the genie is much thicker hence why you do not have to push the cart down.

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Why would you want to ruins such perfect expirience as Guardian Legend with a gamegenie?

It is only meant for those horribly programmed impossible to beat movie licensed games that lots of companies tried to make quick buck with and kids were stupid enough to buy 'em just because they had a same name as the movie.

  • @Bastiest Well, I was a pretty sad kid when I was little, and there were no video walkthroughs (that I knew of) back then. I'll give it a shot. But I seem to remember that when you continue after dying, you only have a low amount of health and chips. Is that right?

Hey have you played Star Soldier?

  • @TheLonelyImmortal Well, in Guardian Legend it was about exploration so in places as with weapons. Weapons like Laser sabre was a really big help in lots of stages.

and yes, I have played Star Soldier, made a video about it.

  • @BushidoMH haha yes, this and Metroid gave us unrealistic expectations...

  • I loved how unusually epic and dark this game felt- you're the only human, and there are these notes from the previous guy who failed... and the music- so classic. I'm sure the creators of such games are late baby boomer pot heads, haha. And kudos to them...

  • This brings back so many memories. I miss hanging with my big bro.

  • One of the greatest games ever made, also one of the hardest games in history. Not because of stiff controls or anything like that. The challenge is all in fairness

  • In the day of password features to resume a game, as far as I know this was the only game that allowed you to check your password before shutting down. lol Not sure why other password games did not do the same.

  • I love the ending. It's probably the most moving piece made for NES.

  • i hate that compile went out of biz they had great games zanac blazing lasers tgl m.u.s.h.a just to name a few

  • Absolutely one of the best NES games ever. This is totally in my top 3 with Kirby and SMB3!

  • HELL YES!! I remember the soundtrack tot his kicked some serious ass! I remember getting the code for the sound test, and listening to all of the beats and sound effects.

The game was awesome too! Reminded me a bit of Gradius, but Gradius was better in my opinion.

  • I remember playing this as a little kid. I could never get past that first level I thought thats how the whole game was. I was surprised when i finally beat it. years later

  • You guys picked the best songs from the game, too. Nice work.

  • legandary hame indeed !

  • This game was WAY ahead of it's time, by atleast the graphics and the sounds are more of SNES quality then some SNES games themselves.

  • Wow your really great at this game! Alot better than myself.

  • Seal No.4 cannot be removed;

I think I goofed up when I sealed it.

Ask for help from the round creature several times.

  • Ahhhh, the whole reason I got into remixing in the first place

  • the intro is the tone of my cell... ttsss one of the best games for me...

  • good

  • forest labyrinth is still the best theme to me :D

  • the part from 0:35on up reminds me hardly on a theme from the old zelda...not? :D

  • Wow @ 4:30. Great tune.

  • That's the ending theme by the way.

I actually found the soundtrack for this game to be good, intro, some corridor stages even the game over theme was great

  • This game is classic. Love the password music.

  • The password music is great. It's very different. It's also the title music for the game on the MSX "Guardic"

I want someone to remix that song!

  • THANK YOU!

I was hoping somebody else felt the same way about the password music, which was the BEST in the whole game, giving exception to a few other pieces during the game.

Unfortunately, no one who makes videos out of "Guardian Legend" here on YouTube ever seems to make this acknowledgement. Go figure.

    > Professor DLC

  • awesome game i remeber beating it a long time ago

  • I remember the character is a girl, because her ass shook when you walked.

  • I'm impressed that there are so many people who love this game.

It is good to know that there are still people who would make sprits for an remake..

But it takes so much time to make a real good remake ..

  • god, this game is love... if crystalis wasn't my #1 fav NES game of all time this one would be... they are both two of the best games i've ever played period.

  • omg i remember this game from when i was little

  • just picked myself up a really nice CIB copy of this game, looks great on my shelf

    my #1 NES game

  • 1st flight when entering naju has best music.

  • Agreed, or even the introduction credits.

  • It is very similar to a song that appears on the first game boy pokemon game.

    Maybe a derivation of this.

  • I beat this game way long time ago like when i was 16 i still like it though.every game i look up here reminds me of the past.

  • I should make it my mission to learn some coding language, and make a GBA-style remake of this game. It deserves more attention~ This game was the first game I ever played on the NES when I was 7 years old, and it forever remains in my heart as my favorite NES game~

Plus the lead protagonist is female. :3

  • if you code it i'll sprite it... i'm an indie game designer (see videos) and i agree 100% that this game could use a faithful remake treatment!

  • I still remember the cheat code 'TGL' u got after winning the game cuz I had it scribbled all over not realizing it stood for the game. :P

  • Aaaaahh!! The Guardian Legend!!. One of the first multi-genre games. And one of the best viedeogames I've played. I really liked the soundtrack. Almost magic!!. LONG LIFE TO "THE GUARDIAN LEGEND"!!

  • Agreed, one of the best games ever made, period.

  • YYYEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Finally I found people that totally agree with me about this game. It was truly way ahead of its time!!!!

  • Truly a game beyond its time :)

  • YES!!!!!!

  • This game's music is boobs. I just played through this game on an emulator about a week ago. Still fantastic. Working on a guitar tab for the soundtrack now.

  • This game has been a favorite of mine for a long time. It has something that many modern games lack which is a replayablity/ fun factor I still to this day sometimes play this game. I think the music for this game is amongst some of the best for a NES game.

  • YES!!!!

  • Oh this old game, i know i played it alot when i was younger, freking loved it

  • love the song at 2:42

  • Me too it's the best, I like that world only for the music, those levels are sooo annoying with the volcano looking things.

  • i agree, i still can't get past that world.

somtimes i get so pissed i just put down the game for a while. its a hardcore game

  • If you have a level 2 or 3 fiery ball thingy (2nd row, 2nd column from left), you can blast through those volcanoes in one shot. Really makes the level much easier.

  • This game was, and still is, one of the best ever made.

    I miss Compile.

  • imo. There is no better game. Probably won't ever be either

  • truly a jewel among NES games. the graphics and gameplay have a depth that was rare on the console

  • the graphics and gameplay have a depth that is rare on ANY console. I can't believe what an epic game this is for the NES. What I really can't believe is why this isn't more popular.

  • I loved this game. ever play ZANAC? there was also one other game I can't recall to use the landers(the blue and red powerup creatures)

  • Gun-Nac

  • oh wow. thanks! yeah that name does sound familiar.

  • The Real McCoy's song "Operator" used music from this game.

  • i love Real McCoy and Guardian Legend, what stage did they get Operator from?

  • One of my favorit nes games!

    Great video!

  • that was the best nes game i loved it

  • this brought back memories. I think I can rock this game. Before it took me about 10 hours to pass the game. Thanks for the upload.

  • If you need some extra help you should check out my boss playthrough, it will help you a lot.

I made it so the TGL fans could find easier way to beat the game.

  • Then you'll be amazed by knowing that to me it took 10 YEARS. I received the game as a gift at 6, and through 10 years of sweat, blood and tears (and tons of paper for that bloody password system) I managed to complete it. 'Till I realized that by inputing the "Lost Frontier" Password, I could have started with max energy and shields. Oh well. However, ever tried Sigma Star Saga on GBA? The gameplay largely mutuates from TGL, bouncin' to and fro RPG exploration and shooting sessions. Nice game.

  • what an impressive spirit you have

  • Man,that second song is sounding like the overworld song from Zelda 2 so much

  • Games like that aren't made anymore. My favorite NES game, no doubt.

  • My cousin has that game. It is also one of my favorites as well.

  • imagine a sequal to such a great game...

  • One of the best NES games ever made... Second only to Crystalis.

  • I'm gonna play Crystalis right now because I can't sleep with the knowledge that there's a game considered better than TGL that I haven't played.

  • what a game! it reminds me when I was 10...
