I was at this free outdoor gig, in the rain across the street from the white house...way awesome...repeater was released a couple of months before...88 - 91 ...great fugazi time!
Yeah, I was at this concert. As it says right at the end of the video, it was shot in lafayette park, right across the street from the white house. And, yes, it was to protest the first gulf war, which at the time was still going by the name "desert shield".
aha... nothing about the foo fighter seems hardcore... hardcore, in the vein of DK, Minor threat, Exploited has nothing to do with even the heavier end of pop-rock. dig?
Ah, that's true about Minor Threat...surprised I haddn't relised that actually. This was 1991, the same year their Steady Diet Or Nothing album came out.
i was at that show too. there was a lot of pot in the audience, which i don't really remember too much of at fugazi shows (for the guy that commented on the audience). amazing show, i remember secret service in the crowd taking pictures.
I was at this show...among many others...this was a protest of the Gulf War. The first Gulf War, that is. So the banner "there will be two wars" was true literally true as well as metaphorically true. And Brendan really knows how to work a cowbell.

Ahhh I love Fugazi. Even when they jam they don't even have to look at each other to be completely perfectly harmonious with each other.

Any news on the band since 2002?

The fact that they were able to play that park amazes me given the times today. It just would not happen today.

The greatest punk ever to be played, this real progresive punk as it should be, not the bullshit punk now. I miss those days...

Ah, old school hardcore. Back before it was hoisted into the mainstream and dioluted of it's credibility. Thanks to the Foo Fighters mainly.

Old school hardcore and Foo Fighters in the same comment?
Something's wrong there.
