We all know that in order to run for president you need to be born in the U.S... (blah blah blah). But here's another thing I found out today (literally). If you want to become an officer and possibly enlisted in the u.s. military you have to RENOUNCE your non-U.S. citizenship. I have Polish parents and that got me a Polish citizenship and I want to become an officer in the Marine Corps and thank God I realized this now and not later, cuz in Poland the process lasts 2 years (WTF?!)

If people are loyal to a country they should just keep thats countries citizen ship, if they want to became an american drop the other citizen ship, if you want to be Filipino drop the American citizenship and get a green card.

I see that everything is black or white with you. Unfortunately, there's a lot of gray areas for some people especially with citizenship and law. Let's say you have inheritance which you can only receive if your that other country's citizen. And you desperately need that inheritance. Do you have to choose between staying American or getting your inheritance?

Personly I would get rid of duel citizenship and correct the flawed inheritance law.

The servering two masters thing was mainly about the guy trying to run for office, and in that role I do see a need for the persons loyaltys to be with the country he is representing.

You know, the president of the Dominican Republic is also a US citizen ... He certainly didn't see the need to renounce his US citizenship when becoming dictator in some banana republic.

As for Filipino vs. US citizenship, I think Filipino citizenship is basically worthless compared to US citizenship, if you can get to keep it for sentimental reasons, fine, but I find it hard to imagine that anyone would lose sleep because of losing their Filipino citizenship.
