I agree with the complaining part. I tell my friends this all the time. If you don't like the system or the place your life is headed then YOU need to make that change. No point in living an unhappy life.

In a "cubicle farm" you're the crop the company is growing and harvesting. That might be okay when the company is taking care of you.

What happens if tastes change and customers switch to something else or something cheaper?

Great point about making a DECISION, instead of just sitting in the cubicle and complaining. In my case, I was sitting in an office and complaining.... When I finally decided to quit my job to start my own business (or join the circus, as you said), it was like a whole new world opened up and I've never looked back. I went from being a chronic complainer to being a passionate doer. I think it's a better use of my time.
