  • 3 years and 11k views. I would have expected more,

Maybe with occupy Wall St., we'll see more views.

I turn to this song often. Thanks and love you Ani.

  • Thumb up if your english book bought you here...

  • @evertiff WHAT?! What English book??? Please tell me! I'm a huge Ani DiFranco fan and I would love to know what this is about...

  • @strangeaslife I'm in a French school and we're studiying a Chapter about the hipie era and the demonstration ! We had this song in the book

  • "And the difference between you and me, is I get fucked up when Im alone." This song is love.

  • kind of lame song :\

  • This poignant, political, powerfully potent artist is so beautifully talented it brings tears of joy, recognition and connection down my face. If I was ever so lucky as to be Mr. eye contact I would stand my ground...... as the sound of my grateful and present heart laid down a beat so sweet, she would feel at home and ........."answer the phone".

  • This woman is, and will always be my hero. This is one of my favorite songs. It displays her amazing musical talent, as well as her incredible insight on the world today.

  • fucking amazing

  • Still amazing .. still very true! Unfortunately.

  • this just blew my mind!

  • I listen to this song repeatedly and I wouldn't ever skip the first three minutes.

  • this song in particular moves me to the edge of tears everytime...ani knows heartache, she knows about dread and she knows what happiness could be if corporations and their crony politicians and lobbyists would give up their extravagant lives of luxury to give equality to all....of course, that won't happen without a revolution!!!!! It's time to revolt Americans! Wake up, pay attention to what is going on in the world. Read books, investigate sources, examine evidence.

  • what are other songs by her that are similar to this one?

  • Ani Difranco is my God

  • I love ani difranco. It is a shame that some fans don't follwer her anymore because they say she has changed. The truth of the matter is that, yes, she has changed. She is a mother now. That is a whole other kind of life and life style. I still appreciate her passion even if tomorrow it were to be playing marbles... It is clear she is an artist in whatever she does.

  • @eveokeboy i hear ya. i had moments there where i was unsure. but when i trust a source....i never leave it. they are so few and far between these days.

i just put the stuff on the shelf that i didn't click with...and revisited it every so often...knowing there was something there. one day it meshed.

  • @eveokeboy "alla this" is my absolute favorite ani song, and it's off her newest album. i have no fear she will ever falter.

  • Maybe since you value her opinion and intelligence so much, you should seek more to understand why she would follow the person

  • I get chills when I listen to this.

  • Politics aside, I can't get over the amount of emotion she portrays in her voice around 9.30 in the song... gets me every time.

  • the CEO's don't bother to shred files anymore.

Instead they fly to Washington, DC and come home with wheel barrows of your money.

Government is the Mafia in the pretense of government.

They'll take every thing you wok for your whole life (like UAW auto workers) and give it to their Wall St benefactors.

Wake up people and purge the government of the leeches.............

  • She see's the symptoms, but like so many, can't see the disease. Democracy is painted as the ideal form of government, when in fact it is two wolfs and a sheep deciding whats for dinner. Mob rule leads to dictatorships, every time. Individual liberty is what is needed, where people have rights no matter if the majority wants to make a law prohibiting it. You have rights, and the governments job should be to protect it against the majority.

p.s. we have corporatism in America, not capitalism.

  • exactly Wall st Tox ic assetts get paid off , bailed out but people that have toxic assetts houses loans, are stuck .

loose the house start over, no bail-out for them

  • Amazing.... its so well sung and written...she is a very talented Artist. I have been listening to her since I was very young.

  • I love this song. I prefer the live version from the Carnegie Hall CD though.

  • yeah that version is really good. i would never have known she could sing that loud/high/ dynamic.

she's got a great voice live. the studio doesnt do her justice.

  • does andyone know where to find her version of "when you were mine"? if you do please post it.

    thanks.

  • made me weep again like a baby.

    obama's a phony too.

now more will die at the world's

    purveyor of violence

  • she played this & others on Democracy now.

this song of course presages the collapse of America & the coopt of government by the radical right ; dem's & Repubs

  • SHES PERFORMING TONIGHT IN NEW YORK and I CANT GO ARGHHH

  • I just saw her in Syracuse.. it was pretty great- but not as good as the last time I saw her.

  • i don't like this at all!!!

  • what part don't you like?

  • well i don't remember leaving that comment or hearing this, but listening to it now, i really like it so i dunno why i said that!! stoopid me.

  • yah it's not a pop tune you can sing along to.

believe me i try but i chime in on parts but her pure emotive voice just grabs me on this one.

  • does she know her stuff or what!!!!!

  • sup

  • Great song..... I love the Lyrics...
