Just wondering, but are there any other game modes besides elimination mode? I would think by now there would be a CTF game mode...is there?

@MAT0R0 Yes, CTF was added to the game a few years ago. There are other variations too, all of them server specific. There is a racing mode, and games with different shaped areas, obstacles, mazes -- even a server with shooting. There is a very popular lightcycle team game called "Fortress" which has a monthly tournament starting back in 2006 I think. The 50th Fortress event is in a few weeks.

This game fucking sucks. For some fucking reason the idiots who made this decided that it would be a good idea to ditch the classic old school tron concept in which if you hit a wall you die. They thought it would be funny if they added something called rubber, which though may of not been its intention, for all intents and purposes destroys the classic tron game at the core of this game and turns this shit into something entirely new. Which sucks, sucks balls.

@lollol336 I sympathize with your disappointment. I agree, there is something terribly wrong with the game, but something terribly right too. "Rubber" is a network function that compensates for network lag in on-line multi-player games. The rubber function is actually fucking genius and the developers should be commended.

@bhilmers Their mistake was making the function accessible to every asshole who sets up a server, and these dumb little shits naturally jack the rubber up so you don't die when you hit a wall. Totally-fucking-ant-TRON. However, there are a number of servers and a committed group of players who completely dis these dumbshits and play with rubber the way it should be used - as a valuable network function.

@bhilmers Well stated. In theory rubber is vital, but the way it is utilized by 100% of the current populated servers is not. As I have yet to find the old school tron game i've been looking for, I would truly like to play in one of your servers and play some real tron.

@lollol336 Not necessarily, it can be changed back. I got that game on a website from the Ubuntu Operating System I have. ANYWAYS technically you can put your own server for everyone on EARTH to play if you know how. I dont think its possible through Ubuntu though. The person who put on the server can change it at will, getting rid of the "rubber" which means you can go in between walls to a certain extent. Some online Armagetron games have no rubber that people have done, you hit a wall & BAM!

@hardyboyz101101 Absolutely not. In fact, it's one of the most unobtrusive pieces of software I've ever owned. It won't write anything to your registry and it works on a closed network. It even uninstalls cleanly.

AI's friggin realistic in this game... in team battle, if you keep winning against them, the AI's IQ automatically increases( i started with 20 AI IQ, after two matches i checked and it went up to 61 AI IQ) sometimes, the game also adds AI( i think it's suppose to throw you off your game, which makes it so realistic and TRON-like...:P

Can someone please tell me how to set the AI so that they're not all on a team against me? I'm going on a road trip next week and I'm depending on this game for amusement...I want the AI to go after each other, not just me. So yeah if someone can tell me how to truly make it free-for-all, let me know. Cause I've tried setting maximum players per team to 1 and that apparently isn't working.

@Nivek150 The AI can't tell the difference between you and other AI. They attack everyone equally. I would suggest playing with the IQ settings until you find a level of play that is challenging. If you have time, check out the Armagetron Wiki. There is a link to it on the main ArmagetronAD page.

I hosted a server but he couldn't find it. Do you know how to find a specific person on a server for just the 2 of u?

@Nivek150 That's a little bit complicated for a youtube thread. I suggest you make an account at the armagetronad forums (linked from the main site). There you will find the answers to your questions and more.

Finding your friend might be as easy as adding his name to your mates list (Play Game > MultiPlayer > Mates). Pressing 'M' on the server browser will filter the names on your mates list so only they show.

Creating a private server is a bit more complicated and may require you to configure your firewall and possibly your router (port forwarding). Also, you'll want to become familiar with some of the common settings/commands a server administrator might need. Much of this is also on the Armagetron Wiki.

Keep in mind, Arma is a self-serve game. You need to do a lot for yourself, which includes a lot of reading. Good luck.

@ShadowrealHedgehog Yes, it does work on Win7, but with some difficulty. Be sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.

Nope. GLTron and Armagetron both copy every other previous lightcycle game. The two games were also started and developed over the same time period. Their development history is surprisingly similar.

GLTron does kick ass though; I still play it a lot.

what you're talking about, i think ( =D ), is called rubber. You can change it by typing "cycle_rubber #" into the console (without the "'s and replacing the # with a number). The console can be accessed by pressing the button above tab, or the "~" button.
