@MacChris4691 Lol you miss read his comment. In fact, you're both rather pathetic, it's 2011, and you still haven't haven't learned to type? Anyway, that "$3000" DSLR is in fact a $8000 camera. Shoots at roughly 21 mp, and gives you full control over all aspects of capturing photons digitally. It has, or did have in 2007 when it was released, the absolute best AF system available. Now Canon has a prototype CMOS that captures at 120 mp (Yes, you read that correctly!)

@MacChris4691 No need to get acrimonious. I have a 60D, but expensive cameras don't make good pictures, expensive glass does. The difference between 18 and 21 isn't that high, and I find that the 9 point auto focus is better than the 1 and 5D's. It'd be nice to have a full frame sensor for fish eye filming. The 60D shoots so amazing video. Nice camera rig, and really nice glass. I don't find the price difference to be worth the higher stats. And I love that vari-angle screen =]

@JustCallMeEddie i guess everyone has to know which camera is best for him. if you make many pictures of sport events. its best to have the 7D, because of the fast autofocus and the 9 pics per sec. or if you make many pictures in a studio, its really nice to have a 7D, because you can wirelessly handle all your flashes and data. sop everyone has to see what is best for his use =)

oh, and you can make fish-eye movies with your cam... i'd suggest the sigma 10mm fish-eye =)

@ZXOH Perhaps the Sony a33/55 focuses faster. Costs much less, and can use Minolta lenses. Does auto focus during video as well. Pictures are just as good. Has extra features too.

as much as i like the sony, theres no way id pick one over a pro canon. Yes the a55 is a great camera, but id much rather have a full frame nikon, like the d3x, sonys arent bad, its just that nikon and canon have always been the pros choice, and will always be as they are better, with better lenses. I use a nikon d300s, it has one of the best af systems put in a camera with 51 af points & 8fps. and photographers dont buy dslrs to shoot movie, hence why that are called PHOTOgraphers.

@17GAZZANIKON "as they are better, with better lenses" - religion. Sony has excellent G lenses, and there are a few Minolta lenses definitely worth having such as the 28-135 one.

I can understand that for actual pro needs you'd opt for Canon or Nikon, but for amateur use, I think the Sony is the better choice. For non FF and under $1.5k including lenses, noone's going to outperform the Sony in any way.

yes i would agree with you, i work part time in jessops (photography shop) as a sales expert. Ive sold may sonys to amateurs, the a290 was popular. The sonys are also more affordable. To be honest i would choose the a55 over a canon 60d, with the 10fps and quality sensor, for less then a £1000, thats a great bargin. However i still prefer my Nikon :), I know i said that pros use nikon and canon, but at the end of the day, its the photographer that makes the image, not the camera :)

I know two photographers that started their own business. Most of their action comes from family portraits. Those nice combos with a 10x10 square family, 7x7 on the left just the parents, 7x7 on the right just the kids, that combo seems to be selling like hotcakes. Plus wedding and corporate photography. Real estate is a biggy too, although rookies with the stupid cell phone cameras compete.

@ClickKopf Video stills are usually always small and bad in quality, ESPECIALLY in a point and shoot camera.

Photographers with these cameras are the once you see at Wimbledon or Superbowl - they need the best quality pictures they can get, and they need to catch the EXACT right moment in a sports match. Those are the ones who would use 10fps. Also, it's their job, it's something they're pretty damn good at, so spending a lot of money on equipment is necessary.

@Metal94Productions Why not? i have a Canon 40D which can get up to 6.5 FPS if i recall correctly.. I'm always doing Burst shots up to 10-15 seconds depending on what i'm trying to capture.. Manage to get a Lightning strike in Daylight, but it was way to blurry to post it anyplace.

Film cameras could go very fast too with a film winder added onto the bottom of the camera. Action shooters use fast FPS cameras because human reaction is never fast enough - it's nothing to do with lack of skill, and it was common long before digital was mainstream.
