  • Clayguy, love your artwork. Western themes are also one of my favorites. I love authentic frozen action drawings and sculptures. Indians hunting, cowboys bronc busting, et. One thing I haven't seen in Indian artwork is a broad-picture representation of Indians in a cliff-dwelling community, like that in Bandelier Natl Monument with there groves, sheep, etc. You've got to visit their if you get a chance. It's amazing.

Keep it coming! Please enter me in your drawing as well. ;D

  • @JohnnyPolitico Thank you... your entry number 42

  • I thought I could draw but you're just awesome. I've only been watching your videos since you started the 'Protector" so I don't know how you feel about doing animals by themselves. With your series idea, I think a beatiful Mountain Lion (Cougar) would look great w/ the theme. Don't know if that has the details of all your other work but it's just a thought....

    Again, Love watching,

    Kim

  • @KIMERLYEC Not quit the theme.. lol..but great idea. Your now entered in the contest.. Thank you for the comment.

  • I would love to win your drawing! Lori

  • I would be truly honored to have one of your drawings. I haven't been in touch lately, due to school priorities, however, I do get into youtube occasionally and check in on you from time to time to see what you're working on. I'm so excited to see this new series come to life.... so to speak.. hehe.. Love this video just like all the rest. Oh... still would love a tour of the bronze shop in Alpine whenever you get down this way again. Hugs and best wishes... Ginny

  • @ginnybug72 I was in Park City last week.. I couldn't remember your channel name.. lol.. I would have let you know. Well anyway.. your entered. Come back the 28th to see the drawing.. I'll let you know if you win.

  • @clayguy1 Well darn it.. lol...maybe next time. I'll be here on the 28th. Glad to see you're doing well.

  • WOW ! A David Lemon Drawing ! It would be my most prized Artwork hanging on my wall. Been real busy this summer, but i am back now steady. You have been my sculpting "hero" for the last several years. In fact, you have inspired me SO much , I am about to start on my first full size sculpt. Cannot thank you enough for your sharing, your video's, and the chance to see fine art i would otherwise would not have seen. With great respect, rick woodward

  • @rickwoodward cool.. well your entered...

  • Very Talented.

    I Am Impressed!

  • Sir, I have enjoyed your blogs since I discovered them last year when I was at home with the flu and I used my time looking through your videos on Youtube. I think a Civil War Zouave would make a great subject with lots of detail. Maybe the drawback would be the smaller size wouldn't lend itself to so much detail.

Looking forward to your next work,

    Adrian

  • @Glyntarw Thank you... I know I have several, I think the max, 6 viewers from my homeland of the UK.. my family came to North America in the 1600s. Good suggestion. Thank you...

  • Love this... I like doing fast drawings like this. =D

  • Dave, do an Indian defending his wife/child from an attacking Grizzly bear!

  • @a68rebel I would but I'm trying to keep this in a price range.. and that would just triple the cost.. Also violent pieces are very hard to sell..

  • love your work dave...how about a modern soldier returning from irag with a duffle bag in one hand a saddle over his shoulder wearing a cowboy hat....just a thought

    thanks dave

  • @muddieair Already did a cowboy for a Veteran's Memorial here in my town. He is a modern day cowboy, holding his helmet in his left hand and looking up at the flag.. with his cowboy hat over his heart.. It was set up the July 4th 2001, just a couple of months before 9/11

  • Count me in, love it!. Reminds me of later pics of Liver Eatin' Johnson, my western culture hero! Best from over in Livingston!

  • What about several pieces showing an indian aging from boy to brave to chief to....

Love your work Mr. Lemon. Sign me up for the drawing.

  • you do really nice work!

  • Hey:) I want you to make a pioneer woman in a long dress and her hair in a bun but frazzled carrying firewood. She should be beautiful with a finely chiseled nose and large eyes. No man around, that would take away from the fact that she is able to take care of herself when he is out doing his own thing. Maybe an Indian male crouching in a bush watching her would be cool though. Or maybe I just have too much time on my hands...lol

  • @Alyzabeth01 True.. lol

  • It would be an honour to own on of your drawings!

  • Hey David... Luv the "mountain man with the pipe" prelim sketch! It kinda has a J.R.R. Tolkien flair or prescence to it. I think that piece will end up in a larger scale as well, later on. Thanks for your inspiration as always.

  • I work in clay as a potter. I was checking out other videos with clay artist and ran across yours. I really enjy your videos and this looks like it will be another great project.

  • Great Sketch. As I work at approx 12 in scale I am looking forard to seeing how you do the head and hands. I have really enjoyed your blog over the last months. I have watched all of `Somewhere a cowboy's walkin'; 'A new beginning' and 'The protector'

  • @akcooke186 my hands may not be as good as your are.. lol I'm trying to decide if I'm going to work in wax or clay.

  • I enjoy your videos, "I hope I win, I hope I win, I hope I win"

  • Great art work love your videos!

  • Really nice sketches. I love the first one and the last one.

  • Love your work and your inspiration to us all. Visit your site each day. The only negative I have is when you don't post a daily video because you're helping a friend, it's a weekend and you want time off, you're beat tired, or you,re sick with the flu or cold. LOL Thanks for all you do.

  • @grizzbuck haha.. very funny

  • I was hoping for a horse sculpture. :) I know I'm going to enjoy the progress on what ever you make. Fun watching you draw.

  • @theArtofJinx I hope you do..

  • I can think of one consequence of creating this diminutive series: you won't have to worry about them fitting into the van for the trip to the foundry. :^)

  • @adamitshelanu Bingo

  • So cool!!! You are such a talented man...keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to win the drawing. This is fun lol! :) Squince

  • @squinceyluvgoddess1 Good luck my friend

  • You know, when I watch your videos I think of my father-in-law and all the old westerns he watches on tv (his family owns a beautiful farm) ^_^ I get stuck watching them too whenever I end up in the living room. My hubby has Native American in his blood, and my ancestors were Mormon pioneers who traveled along the Mormon Trail as well. I love the whole Western lifestyle and culture. It's really great stuff! Beautiful Drawing!!!

  • @TRANSiENTART A fellow decendant of Mormon Pioneers how cool.. nice to meet ya.

  • @clayguy1 On my mother's side, I wish I knew I bit more about it. I only know of one story my grandma told me about her grandma having to travel across a long distance alone by herself. I used to get rides in covered wagons when I lived in Utah, would love wearing bonnets and what not. Made butter, sewed, things like that.

  • Seriously, this is a wonderful thing you are doing for your viewers.

Very generous. I'm sure all of us here can appreciate your talent.

    Thank you : )

  • the new series sound like fun. can't wait to watch them happen. i always wanted to paint a series of Indian portraits... from child to elder of the same person.

sign me up for the drawing! would love to have that.

  • It kind of looks like me!!!! Me me me me Lol...

    Is this the right answer....lol

  • @2darbit ahhhh ... cough cough.... you bet... lol

  • @clayguy1 ---well. I don't have facial hair but I will win it, if I need to stay up 24/7!

I'll be on this like a tic.... ewwww (did I just say that?!)

    ewwww a tic!

  • @2darbit Tic? Tics are not good... lol Don't lose sleep.. I'll notify the winner.. lol Oh did I mention.. my drawings sell for up to $500... lol That would be enough for you to get tic medicine... "Thought"

  • @clayguy1 --Like I'd sell it! no way.

  • I'm going to win that drawing. You'll see.

  • @a68rebel lol

  • Very nice =) you draw as well as you sculpt. I cant wait to see the finished sculpture.

  • @Diana8Matthew Thank you Diana..

  • as always, well done..keep on keeping on my friend..

  • David, you and your work are so amazing (you know I'm not sucking up just for the contest - I tell you this all the time, don't I?). I especially love your mountain men.

Are you drawing with an ink pen?

Please put my name among the many others hoping for a piece of free work from you:-)

  • @maggiesnotebook Yes just a ball point pen... lol... Apples accepted but have no affect.. lol

  • That's a great idea David. I'm not so lucky as to win your drawing but I think it's great. For a moment I thought it was going to be a little pigeon toed mountain girl. Not yet I guess. ^^

  • @drstulu Not a bad idea for a sculpture.. lol

  • @clayguy1 Could this be the one? That would be great!! lol

  • @drstulu lol.. no doesn't fit in the format.. or storyline.. but maybe someday.. that's for sure... just need a model..

  • Wow! Dave the pen is like magic in your hands, i was blown away how unintentional and deliberate each stroke was,i hope i win this drawing.....

  • love your work!thanks for the contest.

  • Well hello there fellow artist seems like I'm the first to leave a comment. Of course I like this video as well as your art which is why I've subscribed to your channel. Feel free to throw my name in the hat Mr.
