I put a camera on my cx2 also and went outside to take videos of my house. I went up about 150 feet and a gust of wind took it and I lost control and it came crashing down. I just got it working again. I have to tweek it now.Great video!
Nice! Could you add details like what camera you used to the video description?
Also, I took my CX2 up about 40 feet and the engines cut out and it dropped like a stone. I assumed it got out of range. Maybe the batteries were low. Once it's fixed I'll have to try my luck again. :p
@DirkME1022 Replaced the stock electronics with a Futaba GY240 gyro, two brushless motors/ESCs. Turn off AVCS mode on the gyro and let it act as a mixer to compensate the lower blades for torque of the upper blades. Keep in mind that more thrust is being generated from the upper rotor vs. the lower rotor, since the lower blades are stuck in the downwash from the upper blades. For more details look on rcgroups.com in multi-rotor-helis section.
It's a brushless CX2 with extended inner shaft. I am currently experimenting with shorter shafts, which in theory should result in greater efficiency.
What was the wind like? I noticed at approx. 50 feet off the ground my little CX2 gets blown around pretty easily. Congratulations on getting yours back safely!
That is simply amazing for a helicopter advertised "indoor flight"! It's nice to see that this helicopter is capable! Also great piloting skills to bring it back down from that height!
I was looking for what your camera set up was, and you responded that it was a modified CVS camcorder - any details you can add?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you had some forward movement into even a slightest wind you might have gone even higher.

Very impressive flight and altitude ;-) How did you make it brushless?

It was a speck and then I looked down at my radio (not a good idea) and lost it, but found it a few seconds later.
