  • Venom!!

  • imo Venom was the 1st thrash metal band. Slayer and Selloutallica followed their footsteps

  • Eh Venom would be my choice

  • to all retards who responded to this question...fuck you nobody cares about you or about your idea's. You can start killing yourself now

  • Both are sick, but very different in style. Slayer is more thrash and venom is more black, however, I think Venom is better because I like more songs by them than slayer.

  • They are both sick but i prefer Venom

  • I like Venom wayyyyy better!!!!!Slayer is one of my favorites too!!!Hell yeah!!But Venom have so much more memorable hooks and charisma!!!Cronos is one my ultimate evil metal heroes!!!!!Sure Slayer is faster and more technical and is no doubt the masters of really fast popular speed metal...But Venom are the masters of catchy black metal that grabs you by the throat and is still with you haunting your memory hours and even years later after listening to them!!Venom rules!!

  • Slayer have heavier riffs.

    Venom have heavier vocals.

  • i got a better fight how metal black album vs behemoth demigod album who wins u decide?

  • Who really cares about who did what and influenced who. Some of you guys sound so nerdy. You might as well be rolling ten sided dice and arguing over star trek.

  • Venom created Black Metal. Slayer heavily influenced Death Metal. They were both Thrash Metal.top that motherfucker!

but no srsly.don't compare them.both bands are awesome and heavy metal gods.

  • you cant compare the these wonderful bands they are in 2 separate sub-cultures of metal.

    apples and oranges

  • Ladies & Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty

  • NO VS. BOTH BANDS SING GREAT AND KICK ASS. THE END

  • Venom and Slayer are truly awesome bands... Venom heavily influenced Slayer's sound and style, and Slayer in turn was highly influential on death metal. Check out the speed metal band Anvil if you haven't already... they sound similar to Motorhead and Venom.

  • VENOM WINS !!

  • 7 people are going to be caught in the raing blood

  • SLAYER WINS!

  • If you dont like both of this bands youre a faggot.

  • @alucard123death Couldnt have said better my self

  • My personal favorite is Slayer but no Venom no Slayer so I like Venom!

  • no compared

    VENOM IS VENOM

    SLAYER IS SLAYER

  • In my opionion, Venom has 2 of the Greatest Metal albums of all time (Welcome to Hell & Black Metal), Slayer has 1 (Show No Mercy). Both are AWESOME. Why compare?????

  • @brophalyctic are you forgetting reign in blood and hell awaits deliberately?

  • thank satan for venom for influencing most of my fav thrash metal bands like slayer and more.

  • Both of their voices DEFINE thrash. But I give it to Slayer for the creativity

  • Gotta love 'em both but Megadeth more!

  • @johnthegreek178 Megadeath sure is a great band but these two bands are probs better because they are really great influeneces on black metal despite Megadeath is only in thrash Slayer and Venom are both in the categories of Thras/Black metal so gotta give it to Megadeath but these guys are better just sayin

  • @Sl4YPe0PlE Slayer is not Black Metal, not even close and they were a bigger influence on Death Metal

  • @parks2000 wrong slayer is a bigger influence to black metal hell awaits is even early black metal the riffs and lyrics

  • @SlayerAwaits1 Only in the lyrics/imagine and maybe even afew riffs but musically they are different, more towards early Death Metal, like most Hell Awaits is too, Reign, South, Div, GHUA was downtuned and resembled it, DIM was downtuned but more Nu Metalish

  • i think the instrumental in the beginning is by At The Gates and its called Into the Dead Sky

  • Well, Venom started BM along with Bathory and a few others, and they also had a small part in Thrash Metal, but Slayer wrote Reign in Blood, the greatest Metal album of all time

  • Thumb down for the fucking bastard who made that video, they both are AWESOME, but u are Not, ur a total dickhead and u suck balls!!

Slayer & Venom are on the same side! And they both are way better than u! u piece of shit get lost!

  • BLOODLUST!

  • Who was there first?

  • Both bands are awesome but I belive slayer is more awesome live though I mean Venom lost their line up so it's kinda weird with just Cronos and to bald guys but any way two great bands but I still belive venom doesen't get enough Cred.

  • hey let me say venom slayer morbid angel are the beginning of black and death metal. but the best of black metal in my opinion would be burzum. death metal obviously cannibal corpse XD i love them all:D

  • @damagejackal1 Death

  • @MaxvergaxS yeah in fact i just discovered those some days ago so I say, they're also one of the founders.

  • I am not necessarily into what is deemed "Black Metal" today, after Cronos coined the term (as well as a few others, such as "Exorcet"...okay fine maybe one of the other members coined it I'm not splitting hairs), Sure I like Lifeless and Skald Av Satans Sol by Darkthrone and Judas Iscariot's In the Valley of Death, I am Their King and From Hateful Visions (the latter is the first time my pops said "You LIKE that kind of music? to which I replied, "What, you don't like IT? Him, "Its UGLY!"

  • why would you even compare the two slayer would say venom who invented the style

  • SLAYER RULES FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who wins???? a: everybody

  • Both are great bands......why try & get folks to take sides.....you're a DICK

  • @LizRichieBand i don't think his purpose is to make people take sides, but you made a great point, i mean if one likes slayer he'll probably like venom, and vice-versa, because they're so fucking similar, and yet so fucking great among fans of extreme metal

  • Venom produce thrash and black metal and Slayer become kings of the thrash

  • I am a fan of Slayer , but now choose to Venom , simply because it would not have slayer without Venom

  • venom aren`t real black metal, they are more like raw heavy metal.

  • Venom were better because they were first! End of story...

  • @dowhatthouwiltful oh, so it's always about who's here first, and not which songs are better or which group actually does a better job. It's like the OLD fart who hates the NEW guy for adding something new to the equation. I like both bands but I have to say slayer added more speed, and definitely a better production value (don't have to listen hard to make out the guitar riffs, or drums that sound like cardboard boxes)And Venom is Black Sabbath on steroids! so is black sabbath is better?

  • @dawallaby82 Yeah of course! Black Sabbath are the best heavy metal band of all time... they created the genre, thats a given. Slayer aren't as good in my opinion in terms of being extreme and creating the satanic vibe, didn't have much respect for them when they sold out; catering to the nu metal crowd. Slayer are good musicians I'll give you that but better than Venom? Nah. In terms of American satanic metal Possessed are the kings!

  • @dowhatthouwiltful I think they are equally great in their own way. One's darker and heavier, the other is more angry and faster. Slayer has the advantage of their best albums better produced than venoms. But I don't look at it as a race, seeing who got there first. I just hear the music and forget history. when I'm talking about slayer, it's the show no mercy through seasons in the abyss slayer. I totally hear ya about selling out. But what do you think of christ illusion vs. metal black?

  • @dawallaby82 Classic Slayer is pretty awesome... for me personally Slayer is a progression in extreme satanic metal, much like Deicide going even more evil and satanic than Slayer. Christ Illusion is a better album for sure; having said that Mantas and Abbadon didn't play on the record so not sure if Venom are Venom anymore. Certainly the classic lineup of Slayer beat the new Venom but its a different story in my view in the 80's. For me 'Welcome to Hell' is a better album than 'Reign in Blood'

  • @dawallaby82 and thats hard for me to admit, as I luv 'Reign in Blood'.

  • I hate to break it to Venom fans. Slayer is SOOOO much better. By the way, it's 2011, there are much better bands out there now. Wake up! old school is good to appreciate, but leave that tired old shit in the past

  • @teargas27 new shit is PURE shit

  • @teargas27 we woke up, and we want to go back to sleep!

  • Dont forget about Mercyful Fate. I'm gonna go with Slayer cause Dave Lombardo is amazing.

  • acdc

  • venom is god slayer is messias

  • Venom are better.. Slayer albums all sound the same (just like Kurt Cobain pointed out- oh, but u nay-sayers are better songwriters and musicians than Kurt Cobain, sorry i overlooked that

  • Its a tough decision. I enjoy Slayes music more which tecnically should mean I find them as the better band. But you can't ignor the fact that Slayer's style was highly influenced by Venom especially on the first album. Look up a song like "Evil has no boundaries" it sounds just like Venom's stlye. But I think Slayer has the more talented musicians however.

  • why compare this epic band to each other

  • VENOM KICK SLAYERS ASS

  • Both are good but...venom

  • whats with only songs from Regin In Blood? the too albums before Regin In Blood are classics you cant forget them

  • VENOM: BLACK/THRASH METAL

    SLAYER: PURE THRASH!

Stop being an ignorant dick and stop comparing different genres.

  • SLAYER....... rules

  • Slayer of course!

  • tie

  • Man how is it that Slayer ends up being one of the most overrated band to ever come from the thrash metal genre and Venom just stays UnderRated

  • @666deathghost thats kind of true well venom deserves to be up there to at least give them credit for how influencial

  • @olverasamuel Well the bottom line is No Venom, No Slayer. Plus Venom never got lame like Slayers new albums then people keep praising Slayer and I'm like for what? They didn't start Extreme Metal Venom did. The reason I say Venom is better than Slayer is because not only Venom stayed underground but they are not producing gay ass fans like emos and scene kids. I saw a picture of a fucking emo a Slayer shirt with while wearing mack up that make him look like a girl. Venom don't attract that.

  • @666deathghost slayers new stuff isnt bad its pretty damn good man not like all the poser deathcore bands there is so few that arent in denial and are real metal modern metalcore to

  • @666deathghost Venom influenced the Norwegian Black Metal bands....they're pretty funny

  • @666deathghost ok but if you think about it slayer finished what venom couldnt their kinda like the diciples

  • @olverasamuel Slayer only created a some good albums but they're not that brutal as ppl think they are I can give you some bands from that time that basically pwns Slayer. Venom was always Extreme from the start to finish. And I'm tired of hearing about slayer, they are not that extreme.

  • @666deathghost true but i mean slayers new stuff doesnt suck its just not the same as the old stuff

  • original doesnt meen better but in this case it does

  • Seriously?, what dumb ass made this? these bands are on two totally diffrent levels. its is a senseless argument.

  • @ThrashFuckinMetal Venom brought the whole Extreme Metal genre. And slayer got their influences from Venom. They even cover a song from Venom's first Album.

  • This is stupid. Both bands are good. Enjoy the music and quit trying to get elitist douche bags to argue about things that don't matter.

  • @Hawdkoah agreed

  • All hail the gods of Metal Black Sabbath, Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest,(Old school) Mettalica, Slayer, VENOM!, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Kreator, Possessed, Death!!!!, Morbid Angel, Mayhem, Sodom, Darthrone, Destroyer666, Destruction, Exodus LONG LIVE METAL!!!!! \m/ (>.<) \m/!!!!!

  • Venom>Slayer end of story.

  • venom

  • Reign In Blood And Welcome To Hell Are both awesome

  • Venom or Slayer, probably the dumbest question since egg or chicken..

  • I just can't get into Slayer. i like other thrash bands a lot, like Bulldozer and stuff, but i could never get into Slayer.

On the other hand, Venom is my favourite band of all time. A lot of people don't know how amazingly awesome their live shows were. Nowadays Cronos can't really move and thrash around they way he did when he was a young man, which is really a downer. Especially cos he's too huge from body building haha! they are still amazing though!

  • @niles789 Chronos is fucking GOD!

  • FUCKING SLAYER!!!!

  • it is like comparing right hand and left hand they are the same thing both equal and awesome

  • I love Slayer & Venom. BUT without Venom there would possibly not be a Slayer

  • @METALMILITIAMEMBER No your completly right. But after all these years Venom is still underrated which is good. Slayer today is more rated. Slayer even have their own vevo which is anoying.

  • I never knew venom was so popular.

  • Can't i just choose both?

  • it's just great. i love watching people saying that this band is greater than this one (enjoy more when they are making different kind of metal lol) and shit like that. you sure you really understand the idea behind metal music?

don't get me start talking. go to your room and think about it lad.

  • venom

  • Slayer eats Venom and shits out Megadeth.

  • This isn't even close. Slayer is far away the better band. The guys from Venom could barely play their instruments and their production was awful. The only thing good about Venom was they were influential. Luckily the bands they influenced were better.

  • Venom are probably the most underrated metal band ever, i say this because they were the first thrash metal band ever and they created black metal, most people dont know that or they just say the Venom was tehf irst black metal band, completely ignoring the fact that Welcome to Hell (1981) was the first thrash metal album ever

still, Slayers my fav band of all time, so of course i think theyre better than Venom, still without the highly influencial Venom, Slayer probably wouldnt exist

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 Completely agree with you, I like Slayer better myself, but what you said about Venom is true.

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 I agree, but even if Slayer is your favourite band you can't say they're better than Venom!

There is nothing more catchy, destructive, and evil than Venom's simplistic style of playing. The atmosphere they created with their first 3 albums is far superior than anything ever made. Only Show No Mercy, Bathory, and Fast Eddie Clarke-era Motorhead (My personal favourite) can compare

LIVE LIKE AN ANGEL, DIE LIKE A DEVIL THERE'S A PLACE IN HELL RESERVED FOR ME ARRRGH Too catchy

  • @ThazuaBlackarrow

i can say that slayer is better in my opinion, but i cant say slayer are more important to metal than venom at all

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 thats true man venom is pretty great but slayer kicks ass still megadeth are my fav

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 They are underrated for sure, although I am not sure if I would say the MOST underrated. Venom has not recieved any commercial play, thats for sure. But for any metal fans, they are one of the biggest bands of the early 80's. In my opinion, a band like Candlemass is more underrated. They are much less known than Venom, but in a lot of people's opinions have released doom metal second only to Black Sabbath.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics

when it comes to personal opinion Venom arent the most underrated band ever, but i think that in terms of impact and influence theyre the most underrated, cause they created all kinds of extreme metal and yet no one gives them any recognition for that, the best they get is being the creators of black metal, and although thats a great acomplishment alone, they created the whole extreme metal genre, not just black metal, and they should get alot more recognition for that

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 I agree, on many levels. Reign in Blood is the most evocative metal album I have heard. Venom was the celebration, rather than the descent. Slayers E.P. Haunting the Chapel was when they came into their own, though.

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 OVERKILL CREATED THRASH

  • @MaxvergaxS

i never heard much from Overkill (i know i should, and i will listen to more from them) but if im not mistaken, their first demo is from 83, Venom already had Welcome To Hell in 81, and thats the first thrash album ever, in my opinion

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 The beast within?

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 i couldnt agree more. i love them both because they brought a new sense of speed and evil into metal. i also think slayer is better, but there are people who just appear to assume that metallica created thrash and everybody copied them, but even before them, venom were already a bunch of fast-playing sobs

  • @jiapodaddy They were fast but still there first 2 albums sounded like a punk infused Heavy Metal or aggressive Speed Metal with harsh vocals and satanic lyrical themes(though Black Album did sound like Thrash). [1981-1990] Metallica gave it that aggression with the gruff and high pitched vocals, fast tempos and bursts of double bass drumming, high speed chugga chugga sound or guitar galloping overlaid with fast shredding guitar solos, and fast bass playing along with it

  • Venom was influential, but they didn't have much talent. Their earlier works have a so bad it's good quality. The nerd rage near the end of "Black Metal" and "Masturbating the deeds we done" from "Welcome to Hell".

Slayer is a good band with memorable songs. However, despite Araya having one of the most brutal thrash metal vocals, he sometimes has a hard time keeping up with beats. Take "Reborn" for example, it sounds like he's rather exasperated.

  • VENOM !!! FUCK OFF SLAYER

  • @arvinfajardo21 I like'em both so two thumbs up yours.

  • @arvinfajardo21 SLAYER!!!!!!

  • Difficult to compare when you totally ignore the fact that VENOM was recorded 3 to 5 years earlier than those 1986 Slayer recordingS,so ..........production and sound improve each year back then, also your Die Hard don't match the right level, its COMPRESSED,and then you shows that uncompressed Slayer,'cammon VENOM IS VENOM,SLAYER IS SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol If Venom wasn't around Slayer probably never exist.

  • Venom impacted black much more so then Slayer, however, Slayer had a larger impact on Thrash and Death metal than Venom, plus i olny like some black metal, and Slayer is better, i love Venom but Slayer is just plain better

  • No competition; both bands are recognized innovators and have been massively important to the evolution of extreme metal. Each in their own way.

  • Comment removed

  • slyer is better musicallywise, venom is so awesome they cant even play, both are cool

  • venom sucks.....Slayer is much better....

  • dude this battle would make the universe explode!!!!!

  • Everybody knows that Venom is Creater Ov Black Metal... thus and thus... Slayer course isn't bad but Venom is holy shit best band in the World ! Venom and Corand Lant 4 ever !!!

  • slayer is better live and in the studio

    easy choise

    SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Slayer i'm not a big Black metal fan.

  • venom till hell!

  • 2 of the best metal bands out there today you cant really choose ...everyone can say this or that but my opinion i dont fall 4 this shit band vs band its all talk & argumental bullshit ,,,so grow up & dont have metalheads figghting amongst eachother.. now rap vs metal (maybe?? ) but not even .why drag fights of nothjing into nothing ..u must have no life ...metal needs ALL THE SUPPORT IT CAN GETY THESE DAYS,, everyone unite & fight 4 metal,,,SUPPORT METAL STICK TOGETHER & UNITE thrash 4 life ,,

  • There wouldn't have been Slayer without Venom. Everything Slayer were able to do both in terms of musical aggression and their satanic concept were originaated by Venom. If I should be more unorthodox(in metal standard) and speak in Christian reference, Venom is more like Jesus while Slayer is like Paul. Venom have made risk during the era where it wasn't common for a band to take their approach so extreme, Venom did that and Slayer "evangelized" such extremity.

  • @unorthodoxtrotsky very well said dude... i understand ur point completely, altho i'm a BIG Slayer fan, i can say Venom is really awesome as well...

  • @Arrakis1991

    I'm a Slayer fan myself. \m/

  • @unorthodoxtrotsky THank you very much.

  • Just Not Possible! D:

  • imposible choise two of the most badass bands, the two are evil fast and both are legends

  • whenever someone asks me what kind of music i listen to i show them this video

  • slayer and venom both, i cant choice...

  • Slayer, of course.

  • this is like judas priest vs black sabbath, it should be SLAYER AND VENOM!

  • Well I would have to say venom hands down... I think slayer sounds the same in all there songs with there triplets... Venom on the other hand mixes it up a lot more so i say venom hands down...

  • tough choice, fuck it! they team up and make the most brutal Metal and kill all the posers!

  • u cant compare them ... "venom....the worst musicians ..the best black metal band"... but u cant say they are bad players on their latest albums....

  • why compare these two? you just cant.

  • a slayer & venom tour would be phenomenal

  • @metalgod666alex Hellyeah

  • id have to say venom....slayer has sold more records but thats just cus ppl feard venom..

  • both have that certain mystigue of oure evil that can be attributed to each other both ways. you wouldnt be able to compare megadeth or metallica to venom the way you can with slayer.

  • Venom first started this shit we all like And Slayer just made it more popular. So what we have is a tie

  • there both awsome

  • All I have to say... All of this is just fucking ROCK 'N' ROLL BABY!!!

  • really cant say, These are two of the darkest, fastest, most badass bands in the fuckin galaxy

  • 6 of one half a dozen of the other ive listened to both since i was 15 im 40 now and still cant call this one!!

  • - two great bands (I prefer Venom but it's irrevelant)

    - Slayer was influenced by Venom (as every fvcking extreme metal band out there)

    - the video is pointless :P (just kidding)

  • I say slayer won, but venom is close

  • slayer thats all im saying

  • Both really good bands but I prefer Venom

  • Venom all the way

  • I would say Venom becaue Slayer is influenced by them but. Slayer is just heavier, faster, more satanic. And Slayer is my favorite band of all time so I have to go with FUCKING SLAYER!!!

  • i got to vemon I DICOVERED SLAYER after venom plus i really prefer vemon over slayer

  • Thats like suffocatioin VS. Dying Fetus

  • @XxD4RKFILOxX VENOM

  • venom of course but i still love slayer

  • SLAYER IS GOD!! PERIOD.

  • @slayyer000 VENOM

  • VENOM IS MORE FUCKING EVIL

  • VENOM IS A GOOD BAND AND I GUESS THEY LOVE SATAN, BUT HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THEM TO SLAYER THERE IS NO HEADACHE IN THAT DECISION UNLESS YOUR AN IDIOT AND THERE IS NO OPINION SLAYER IS BETTER AND THAT IS A FACT
