I got my PS2 on launch day but all games available at the time didn't look any better or fun than Dreamcast games, when this came out it became my first PS2 purchase, graphics were really really good it showed the system's capabilities but gameplay and story were not that great, it's really sad but the fact is beat em ups are dead and I don't think any developer is interested in reviving the genre, I really miss the days of Streets of Rage,Double Dragon, Battletoads...I better stop

I still ave my dreamcast. It had a couple of beat 'em ups here and there, but the most prominant genre on the DC was FIGHTING games. Thats why I still have it. There were too many cool fighting games on the DC that other systems still don't have.

they could do it, for a lot of reasons. If I could (right now I'm in no position to) I would bring it back.

Not necessarily the exact story, but the name, some characters, and the design philosophy behind it.

The beat em up game genre died out when games became more serious, but over the last decade casual play has more than come back.

If the beat em up genre was brought back, and done right it could be very successful. Fighting games never benefitted from team play, and online play sells.

Destructible environment

360 rotational cam

This game had so much potential. Some of the stuff that's shown in the early gameplay footage prior to release could never be done in actuality. They could definitely get away with doing this stuff if they made a Bouncer 2 for the PS3 :D

they were working on FFX at the same time... a lot more hype around that game and money to be made, they made the smart decision to go with their cash cow than experiment with a genre they're not really invested in.

Though at this point I'd like to see this game and genre remade.

Uh Dream Factory has nothing to do with Squaresoft in house development team. Two totally different teams. And Dream Factory left working with Squaresoft after this game since the game was half assed and rushed by S-E anyway.

have owned a ps2 since christmas 2000 and i still do, and in my opinion, NO OTHER GAME on the ps2 to this day had graphics as good as this. Yeah this game was kinda dissapointing, it was very short, but i have played hundreds and hundreds of big-name high profile ps2 games (the Resident Evils, Metal Gear Solids, Silent Hills, Grand Theft Autos, Final Fantasies, the Onimushas, the Kingdom Hearts and the Xenosagas to name a few) but the graphics of those games NEVER managed to top the Bouncer.

There abouts 3 version of this game Ehrgeiz 2 then The Bouncer (beta) which game play is shown in this video sadly it was scraped something about devs quitting halted the project so square tried to patch it up and sell it. Which is mirrored in the gameplay...

It was a good game, but the control scheme didn't seem suitable for the game. Why do you need a high, mid, and low attack button when there's only one way to guard them all? It would seem more appropiate to have a punch, kick and throw button instead. Also, Story mode is too short and the Vs. mode roster is too small. There might as well give us acess to all 11 fighters (15 if you count Mugetsu's and Duargon's clones).

I got the game. Alot of people bought it and said it was good, but they felt that it lacked something.

The game was rather easy if you are advanced in fighting games.

The story line was rather short as well. They had a versus mode, costumes, and some extra characters. They did not let you play story mode with the extra characters, big mistake. Any die hard gamer would complete everything in the game within 5 days at least. Good game, but it was short and the replay value was low.

Never heard of this one. I wonder if it was ever released? Square is not known for their fighting games,but they're decent to say the least. "Ehrgeiz" was mah. It could have been better if they put some more effort into it. Not my favorite fighting game,but not the worst.

It was in fact released and quite popular at the time if I recall correctly. I want to say it was released just after the PS2 Launch.
