@miumaus14 Used the After Effects Shatter plugin. The first couple of cracks where just a still that was masked and keyframed to reveal more of the crack with each hit, then there is a cut to a new layer that is shattering using the plugin.
@pauly4it its pretty simple. He's used a 3D tracker to track the scene. You can use Icarus, it's free. Then you make a mask over the window, and apply the 3D motion tracking to a null. Then parent your null to your matte. You may have to rotoscope your matte a bit too. Then you can stick your city in. You can use footage, but a still would probably do.
ribenawrath has it pretty spot on. Allthough for that specific shot, no tracking was needed. The workflow I had was Roto window, roto body, then roto hair (all separate elements layered). Next turn city clip into 3D layer and push back on Z till it looked right then lens blur it a little, grain match it and done. It was a mix of After Effects and Silhouette for the roto, everything else was After Effects.
To assemble the demo reel I cut it together in After Effects and did the opening and closing in After Effects. The music was cut together in Soundtrack Pro.
Can anyone point me in the Direction, in how to make something like this, i'm Starting to Make videos with visual effects in them, and i just want something that kinda introduces "Me" and then afterwords the videos starts. If anyone could just point me in the direction of were to go to start, the programs i have are FXHome VisionLab and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0, if there is a program that is ment for stuff like this or what, just a simple direction would help me alot. THANKS BUNCH
Well, it really depends on the work you do and what your goal is with the demo reel. There are some articles online with tips on assembling your reel if you do a Google search. The most important things to keep in mind are to put all of your best and recent work at the beginning of your reel and don't make the reel too long, average times range between 30seconds up to around 4 minutes long. Hope that helps a little.
VFXman is right, depends on what style you want to go with. For your basic motion graphics work i suggest either Apple Motion or Adobe After Effects.
Incidentally on my channel i am starting to give away free video intro's for youtube videos to anyone who subscribes! so if you want anything making for free, or need some basic motion graphics help just ask!
you wouldn't buy any chance have a full clip/ project file for the live concert section? more specifically the clip with the silhouettes and the stage. really interested in seeing how that worked.
Sadly that is the full length motion graphic and also the only surviving footage. The project file is long lost in the archives of the client I did it for and being that it was done in house, the project file was never to leave. I do however remember how I created the crowd in after effects. Simply four or five jpgs that were masked out, converted to black then expressioned to wiggle on Y axis only. I duplicated them enough times to fill the shot and just flew the camera over them.
yeah thought as much. i really like the way you constructed the stage though. sounds like a silly part of the reel to focus on but i'm a Post Production student at a fairly prestigious Production University in London and I have a project in the works where i'm going for such an effect/3d space design. Was nice too see my idea already alive! Helped me a lot in visualizing the design a lot more so I thank you! Just hope I can create something similar in the time frame ( a week).
Thanks, it was a really simple layout, mostly eye candy with the lights and explosion footage. The stage floor was just a simple solid and the truss towers were one psd image of an actual truss then duplicated for all four sides of the tower. If you check out "motionscript" dot com Dan has the expression for the one axis only wiggle too.
noticed you liked visual effects videos and i thought you would also like mine,.

How did you do the effect of replacing the image outside the window @ 1:11? I'd be really interested in that.
