I'd think as long as you have a respectable SAT score, had good grades in high school, and at least took "college prep" level courses (not the fundamental) courses, you'll probably get in. It is a public university afterall, like Penn State and Ohio State, but like the two, it's prestigious. Basically, I'd guess not to expect it to be like an Ivy League school, but don't expect a community college walk in the park either.

The University of Michigan's academic standards remind me a lot of Penn State's (the school I go to). One college in Pennsylvania that's REALLY tough to get into is Penn. Most people haven't heard of it. Funny thing is they have shirts that say "We're not Penn State" because most confuse the two. Is there anything similar with UM and MSU?
