  • Imagine what else she could do with that right hand...damn!

  • My mom made me listen to their music since was really little, and I'm really glad that I know about them. They're really amazing.

  • You think John Mayer is a good guitarist? Okay.

  • They did more musically in twelve minutes than I have done in nearly 27 years. Incredible.

  • Phrygian mode FTW

  • I wish listening to this was my homework... :/

  • This chick slipped God's quality control.... Nobody should have a hand like that. Its unnatural. Her right hand is like in overdirve all the time.

  • I have never seen anyone play like that. Pretty awesome!

  • I'm mesmerized.

  • I used to think John Mayer was a great guitar player...this is fantastic!

  • they did the soundtrack for puss in boots as well!

  • Estoy enamorado de Gabriela

  • that's it, i'm throwing away my guitars, I fucking suck...

  • ROcked it at sasquatch this year.

  • Did anyone hear the Jimi voodoo chile tease?

  • @PhusionBlues Heard it too. Inspiration leads to Inspiration.

  • @PhusionBlues Heard it too.

  • "...un calor de la chingada"... jajaja fabulosa chica!

  • agh! badassness overload

  • Now i need a cigarrete and a shower...

  • Camera guy doesn't know when to pan in on the solo...sooo frustrating!!!!

  • I love this...

  • magnifique!! superbe!!!

  • Anyone who didn't know the roots of metal.. Tada! :P Very good playing, very tastefully done and speaking as someone who goes for similar acoustic percussive playing like Gabriela I can say that your hand definitely gets sore after a few songs like that!

  • They are amazing. Acoustic music is the best!

  • it sounds like acoustic thrash metal!!!

  • @engraving333 Yeeah, they had a thrash metal band in Mexico

  • aight they need to collab with sungha jung

  • Dudes named Rodrigo are fucking awesome.

  • Bring the beetles to tiny desk

  • They did pirates soundtrack?

  • @Pluckyxo yeah bro its on youtube

  • These two ALWAYS look grumpy as fudge...

    They can play though, wow

  • Now I totally see why they made a soundtrack for Pirates of The Caribbean 4...

  • i just got mind fucked...

  • Just imagine if these guys were given a looping station just to mess around with...

  • they win at life

  • Tears sprung to my eyes...i was totally captivated by their strings, rhythms and Spell!

    Absolutely Brilliant!...:-)

  • :o

  • This video made me stop what I was doing and put me in a place beyond myself. Basically, HOLY SHIT BADASS

  • fuck 4 people

  • 4 people were born without ears.

  • AWESOME!!!! :)

  • now that is some stellar fucking guitarwork

  • This is awesome! They are so concentrated and play off each other so well.

  • 4 people were born without ears or a heart

  • oh what those hands could do

  • Hey, I can get good tacos anywhere. Music of this caliber doesn't come along very often. Here's to hoping Gabriela sticks to playing guitar.

  • this is one of the reasons why I can keep on going in life.

  • Just incredible!!!

  • wow is all I can say:DDDDD really cool

  • @Stealthanugrah the comment says - because Rodrigo y Gabriela's rhythmic style showcases a frenetic strum that conjures the energy of flamenco. does not say it is flamenco. says quite specifically it is not. so whether untrained or not do not assume they have just said flamenco because of their background.

  • i wanna get a handjob from that ruca

  • Sounded more like a russian dance at times haha, but that's definitely cool as hell.

  • For InebriHATED1, the lady has more talent and intelligence than you'll ever have so why don't you take your little mind and go find some poor, defenseless sheep to entertain yourself with, or maybe Justin Bieber would be a better fit for you. The herd is clearly where you belong. Why are you exposing yourself to diversity and things outside your comfort zone when you can't handle it.

  • I saw them in the Olympia in Paris... AMAZING!

  • WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED! i need to change my pants now

  • Holy shit!

  • incredible

  • Its all in the forearm. Gabriela could tear the head right off it!

  • Thanks for posting this. They are amazing artists but also the production is really nice. NPR seem to put people at ease and you get a really personal view like they were in your house. Great.

  • favd!

  • boom! << my mind

  • Totally. Mindphucked.

  • Absolutely fantastic. I"m very impressed. Very beautiful.

  • I wonder how many guitars they go through.

  • open the boarders so we can finally have some good American music in the past 10 years.

P.S. I want the girl to spank me

  • @IamDarkStar2012 lol good luck she is married to rodrigo thus rodrigo y gabriela but i love her too

  • open the boarders so we can finally have some good American music in the past 10 years

  • sorry to burst the bubble, it's not flamenco AT ALL, and the duo have both said publicly that it wasnt, please learn what flamenco is, no offense meant, but please, it's cuz i want the world to really know and get exposed to the world of flamenco, and not think just because people are hispanic and they play guitar that it's flamenco!

but i love this duo, they are the bomb, period

  • @Stealthanugrah although they do use some flamenco techniques yes?

  • @TheCowboySantos Learn about flamenco and learn some for yourself, and see what I mean. It is flamenco to the untrained eye, and I don't mean this in a derogatory way. I'm serious.

once you use a pick, basically you're outta the flamenco world period, that's 1, 2 the strums Gabriela is using, look similar, but it's not the same thing. As I said, learn more about Flamenco guitar and you'll see what i mean.

  • theres something about Gabriela.

  • could watch this 50 million times and feel no less amazement than the very first. DAMN

  • This Hanuman's intro... kickass!

  • That was AMAZING - Gabriela was the bomb... and very cute too! What incredible style with the percussion and strumming technique...

  • cool

  • It is retarded how good these two are... If you weren't watching them you'd swear there were two guys on drums and AT LEAST one more guy on guitar.

  • diggin it

  • Gahhh man

  • shes so goddamn amazing. cute as hell too

  • Gabriela is the rock star by far! Check out how she handles those strings. That's mad skill.

  • It's a shame that Gabriela's mic volume is so low...her strumming technique is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen as a guitar player.

  • 3 dislikes? that's a good thing :)

  • Wow, these two are half as loud as David Russell by himself and they've got the mics closer and you can tell the mics are at a higher sensitivity too because the interviewer guy is WAY loud.

  • MAN my internet connection is so goddamn slow.....its like you wanna see the mona lisa at louvre and you would have to wait for the picture to integrate....gnaaaar

  • she has a great 5beat rhumba. But Rodrigo is awsome

  • Rodrio y Gariela... the best there is! No two guitars ever made such sound! You need to see/hear them live - like I did in Seattle last September. You will (if over 45) seriously wonder if you're heart will survive the pounding of Gabriela. I survived! Now I live!

  • this is great

  • 3:20 reimds me of megadeth

  • this is more than AWESOME!

  • @seinfeldsandwhich I would disagree with that statement. I'm not troubled whatsoever, and i listen to some metal. Of course, metal is a VERY wide genre, but i think a major part of music is diversity, and being able to discern what parts of whatever music are good. Every style of music has it's shiny points. ya just gotta look. Sometimes you don't have to look hard at all, but others you do.

  • @Calebitus how a bout u take ur stupid right wing views, shove em up ur ass, get glenn back to fuck it out of u so hardd it comes out ur mouth and shoot ur self in the brain, cuz u r fuckign st000pid

  • @seinfeldsandwhich A very small percentage of the words you used in that comment are spelled correctly. And you're calling me stupid. If you think being open-minded is stupid, then fine. You're pretty much alone on that one. And for future reference, contain your desire to be a completely retarded asshole on the internet. People like you annoy the hell out of me and everyone else who favors actual thinking over picking one side or another.

  • love it they ooze pure talent! brilliant "desk concert" concept

  • Guitar skills that just can't be duplicated. R y G are amazing...beautiful sound all around.

  • haha some good one Spanish Rumba catalana mixed. I actually have a video. Influenced more from the more traditional Rumba though.

  • I like how Gabriela kind of dances in her chair while she plays. She gets so into it. She's dead serious.

  • Would rather still hear Stunz and Farah, hard to believe this type of playing still sells! Come on people!

  • @elduendecillo07 What the hell does it matter if it sells or not? It doesn't have to sell to be good. The only thing music has to do is giving some kind of feeling to the people who listen to it... In case you haven't noticed it but music is something subjective, so you don't have to convince the other people about what you think of it ;) Personally I think it's a great song cause now I can hear heavy metal riffs without disortion :p

  • You can really hear their metal influences around 1:40

  • Unbelievable chemistry! Not to mention how good they are individually...

  • 12 minutes of PURE BLISS :) Thanks RyG ♥

  • I love these guys!

  • MInd = Blown

  • 4:20 holy shit!

  • holy fuck this is great!!!

  • My uncle told me I had to listen to these guys back when the self titled album came out, and I was hooked. Their last concert in Dallas was amazing and I can't wait to see em again!

  • I've just limped in here after watching that moby NPR travesty of a song. thank god for these R + G. amazing

  • Jajaja: "ya me dió un calor de la chingada"...por si a alguien le quedaran dudas de que son mexicanos chilangos!

Amazing mix of flamenco, heavy metal and traditional mexican rhythms!

  • absolutely amazing

  • God sometimes I really just wish Bob Boilen would shut the fuck up. Great music but man the guy is a dork of epic proportions

  • Those guitars are perfecto. Both of them probably cost more than my house.

  • wow...I just discovered Rodrigo y Gabriela a month ago. I'd have to say they're incredibly talented. How any duet combines musical rhythm like they do would boggle anyone's mind.

Also discovered NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts...thanks to R&G. A very unpretentious, real look at real music....love it! thank you for doing this...

  • gush, this guys remind me of a two-headed Kaki King

  • They are very good, I love acoustic guitar and some heavy metal, they are giving us a little bit of both

  • imagine having that power in your hands

  • I can hardly imagine the zen focus needed to play these songs.

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK yes. nice hands rodrigo. Gab u got it to with your limp wrist. nothing but love!!

  • Whoever disliked this should be shot

  • THey would make EPIC heavy metal music....

  • These people are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! holy crap

  • i think i'm in love with her. sooo amazing.

  • is that enter sandman by metallica? the first song? please tell me.

  • nope, but they definitely have a metallica sound in some ways.

  • @WinstonLights87

dude, listen to enter sandman, and you'll figure out, I guess :p

they do have a certain metallica sound in their songs

  • @kareljuwet as well as punk rock and of course Flamenco music influences.

  • wuauu...

    eza introduccion para empezar hanuman

    ez la onda! c(=

  • Sure, their technique is virtuosic, but they're also writing great melodies and setting them to brilliant rhythms. So much music in this vein is vain wankering, but this is the real deal. Wow!

  • Alguien sabe ke marca de cuerdas usan rodrigo y grabriela?

  • JA JA JA JA...

Gaby - "Deja y me quito el sweter. Ya me dio un calor de la chingada"

    Como los admiro.

  • Stop Hating! Yall know they the shit!

  • Comment removed

  • Holy mother of God they are amazing.

  • I <3 reddit.

  • Unbelievable! These two are crazy talented.

  • I love phrygian mode

  • 2nd song much better :)

  • awesome post, can you upload your youtube video where you are being recognized by NPR, with the talent that this duo has? i would love to check your stuff out. obviously you have greater skill than the guy in the video, seeing as how you feel at liberty to say he "kinda sucks". thanks in advance, i look forward to your video.

  • They can both do a shitload more than you though.

    Reddit FTW

  • The problem here is that she is using rasgueado techniques and rodrigo is using common picking techniques. Both of these artists are very talented, but you feel like gabriela is MORE talented just because you are less familiar with what she is doing. To anyone with any rasgueado experience, Gabriela is talented, but not incredible.

  • @armygreen314 a far sight better than how you play so i don't think you can critique how they play

  • Seriously? If we couldn't critique people more skilled than us, there would be no critique.

Armygreen was offering a helpful and insightful critique, never said anybody was bad, you have nothing to be offended by.

  • I see no problem there. It's works really great the way they do it. And I'm no guitar connaiseur but actually Gabriella feels like the strong point in their representation. The way she moves those hands ... instant hair raise! There's a lot of fire there. She is amazing.

  • I disagree thoroughly, they are both amazing guitarists. She provides that brilliant rhythm that Rodrigo dances around with his lead. take either element way from the music and it would be incomplete.

  • They're both very good players but it seems to me their strength is their innovation and originality.

  • Wow!!!!

  • This is so rad!

  • This is awesome. Heard their music but have never seen them play. Blowing my mind right now.

  • so fast, so good, so different!

  • does anybody know what song that is a t 2:15 ?

  • They owned that room. Simply astonishing. Once again, Rock and Roll, Metal...whatever you want to call it, just makes everything more epic. I am all for more epic. In all things. When you drink coffee, drink it metal. :)

  • This is what I'm looking for. No soft voices or playing here. >:) I like it! 5/5

  • 6 stars if I could

  • @madtownstu

    Me too!

  • they're both awesome, I just am amazed at the co-ordination involved with how gabriela plays rhythmn, tapping the guitar while playing notes O.O

  • This kind of thing makes you want to ditch your electric guitar and take up acoustic... in fact I might just do that.

  • @thomasdav26 I already did. (:

  • acoustic wins lol

  • @thomasdav26

    I already did

  • buster voodoo is awesome

  • This video, in podcast form, was my introduction to Rod & Gab... I immediately bought the album and now I'm back here to spread the word. Thanks, Bob Boilen & crew, for bringing standout talent to us all (also including of late, in a different genre, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros).

  • legends

  • Seriously awesome, i love these guys, really nod their heads to the flamenco and metal greats

  • Amazing

  • Amazing! i am going to go get this!

  • omg!!!! i love these guys^^ npr showcasing my favorite duo i now love npr ^^

  • Oh, my Gosh!

I'm only 1/2 way through this video and my eyes are watering and my hair is standing on end.

    NPR should make this downloadable.
