US Kiwis say six exactly the same as the same as the British and the same with fish and chips. But central Aussies say sex not six I'm not not talking about the people in Sydney or anyone else on the coast but in central Australia they do have thick accents. We don't say E's or U's where I's are meant to be. Just to clear that up. Except as Jimoen said SOME of the Maoris do sound like chickens
@disturbaholic People tend not to think they have the accent! I am English born and grew up in New Zealand and Kiwis definitely pronounce their vowels different from British people. There is some difference between regions, but not as much as English accents. Rob's copy sounded nothing like a NZ accent!
Re: "Stop" - I really think it's just a sound issue. There are weird audio jumps in all 3 parts of this ep. In Part 3, you can hear a brief moment where the General Ignorance buzzer goes off again in an echo-like way, but no one acknowledges it. I think it's just an audio transfer issue that makes it sound like the "stop" comes at an odd moment. It probably was someone saying "stop" but the transfer makes it sound whispered. Either that, or it was said on its own but the skip placed it oddly.
The voice saying go back, whatever the explanation, is utterly creepy. It's obviously someone finishing Alan's statement, but it's too clear and composed for it to be an audience member. It's more likely one of the crew. It doesn't make sense, though, unless it was an accident.
About the whisper at Alan; that's just a contestant or Stephen finishing Alan's statement for him because he drifted off. I really don't think it was a stage direction or it would have been edited out. The last word of the sign would have been 'stop' or 'stop and turn back'
A typically Stephen-esque description: "Some of the tiny-winy-lots-of, some of them quite-big-only-a-few."
However, I want 11:17 - 11:20 first as a ringtone, then tattooed onto my forehead. Why does he... never mind.
But Brian Blessed is so amazing! His awesomeness is evident from the first moment you see (or hear) him, but I never ever knew it was possible for him to be this much awesomer! I mean, to box with the Dalai Lama?
He and Stephen are truly national treasures, and should be knighted!
Yeah, I heard the "stop" too, but I just assumed it was Stephen Fry giving a quiet warning to Alan to not start a bad joke or something. :P Or maybe it happenened on the studio crew side, and it accidentally got recorded.
i might be going insane.....but when alan says "there are signs going all the way up to base camp..." right around then if you turn the sound way up does anyone hear someone whispering "stop" ? when i first heard it it scared me shitless and ithought i was hallucinating, but i went back and it was still there.
