MASH!! Greatest TV series ever! When I was little the only way my grandma could get me to sit down and shut up was to put MASH on. She didn't mind cause she loved the show but she never understood how an 8 year old could be so into it. Even now at 24 I love it. I own 11 seasons and the movie, I have a t-shirt and a set of MASH dog tags my mother got me from a convention at the hospital she works at.
@Panzer654321 Gee is just an exclamation, there's no perfect translation. Closest is probably "you know" Ma is an affectionate form of "mother". So "You know, mother, I wanna go home."
@Danielle4re Nope, it's "Gee ma, I wanna go home." I have an original version on my hard drive. There may be other versions, but "gee ma" is the most original and common.
@TheRaker55 In the popular TV series, M*A*S*H, Colonel Potter's favourite film is My Darling Clementine. Clips from the film are shown in the season 5 episode, "Movie Tonight".
gee mom I want to go back to ontario, please mom I want to go home. They say that in the army the chicks are mighty fine. you something something something, they'll give you frankenstein. gee mom I want to go back to ontario, please mom I want to go home.....My brothers sang this song in a different version in boy scouts when they were young. lol
I have quick question. Um... Is this from the series cuz some of the voices sound like the people from the show like Potter and Klinger, then theres Donald thats mentioned. And if it is from the show could you tell me from which episode. Please and Thank You
theres only so muc you can do. if they kept addin characters it would turn into a regular old soap opera. loose ends such as personal stories, growing relation ships, stuff like that. if u look at season eleven, yu notice they gradually become closer
They needed some new characters added to the mix. Not just the same 7 characters over and over. Plus, judging by the number of fanfiction stories written over the years, there was still PLENTY more to do. I myself have written 20, and I've included two original characters. I've even developed background characters who were never focused on, like Igor and Goldman.
@ExplorerDS6789 It would have been nice if Frank Burns had been developed into more of a humane person had Larry Linville decided to stick around.M*A*S*H had begun to show signs of improvement just prior to Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson's departures, mind you,so it's really a tough call as to how much longer it would have lasted had they stuck around.
One idea: Have some other doctors serve in the 4077th occasionally. Dr. Mark Craig of "St. Elsewhere" served in Korea and claimed BJ Hunnicutt as a drinking buddy. Since there's no evidence Hunnicutt ever served anywhere in Korea, 3 possibilities present themselves:
1.) Hunnicutt met up with Craig in Seoul
2.) Hunnicutt met up with Craig in Tokyo
3.) Craig did some drinking at Rosie's.
Of course, you'd need a younger actor to play the younger version of Mark Craig.
Alan Alda is 74 as of January 28, 2010. Wouldn't he be too old to play any military guy?
Harry Morgan was just shy of his 68th birthday when M*A*S*H ended in 1983. Yes, he's still around - if he makes it due to his advanced age, he'll be 95 on April 10, 2010.
@ExplorerDS6789 I do agree that they could have had a next generation sort of thing maybe years after its' cancellation in 1983,but that wouldn't have worked right away. The spin-off AfterMASH was sort of just beating a dead horse as it was with established characters returning to civilian life after the Korean War.
Thanks, starcraft2222, for responding to my post! My Friend was watching a M*A*S*H -fest, and shared it with us. I re-posted this for her, and she shared the link. You Rock!!!
I had to look this up, since this song has been on my mind all day! Maybe now that I've heard it again it will leave me alone! Great little tune, but not the sort of thing that you want to be haunted by!
We sang the real version. Someone in our high school band knew the words of the song. They would start singing the song and everyone else jumped in and starting singing. Before long, everyone knew the words to the song. Occasionally, they would change the words to sing about teachers, football players, etc. Thank you for asking. I think you did a great job!
Great song, however, the nurse's lyric is wrong. the correct one according to the subtitles on the DVD is "The surgeons in the Army, their brains they are profound,
but we'll take chopper pilots they'll get you off the ground."
After all these years, I remember that there was one more verse. It was sung by Frank Burns. He thought he was being clever, and he sang it after the song had ended and everyone had moved on (staircase wit). It went something like this:
Frank's part is the best!
