Very old? Bloodstained Ground is from Slania, which is the first album where they started to lose their ancient, raw sound. It's not old... spirit and ven aren't even really old, but they are more of the 'old sound'.

So they've been kind of going the same direction since Slania, but it was before Slania that most people are referring to.

i like the way they've made this video. clearly, metal bands generally dont have the funds to make multiple song videos for a single album, but what nuclear blast has done here is really nice.

lyrics, interesting pictures, some advertising. nice job.

i personally don't dig this song, but "a rose for epona" was wonderful. i love the way they take a traditional tune and "metal" it. they did a great job with isara in the prev album too!

Perhaps, but I like that they are faster now, but still Eluveitie. Half of the instruments don't take part in any Core-Band.

So now it is Folk-/Pagan-/Whatever-Metal with tiny influences of metalcore. They don't reinvent themselves, they are just going on their way which is very well.

They've pushed the folk instruments so far into the background that they may as well not even be there anymore, not to mention the average as hell chugga chugga like guitars and the verse/chorus structure. They're not progressing, they're just forgetting what made them good and going for something simpler instead.

@ianisamonkey1 Nah, it's not. The folk instruments are far more in the foreground, and it was more forgiveable then on their first few records. But we're on album 4 now, there's no excuse for such lazy and uninspired writing.

@MikyWrita The guitarists have just become so needlessly boring. The constant chugging is beyond annoying and they never play anything engaging anymore. The drums are so stock-standard too, and that's when they're even there because the overuse of electronic beats in this song are really annoying as well. Everything else about Eluveitie has just grown so tired from lack of anything new over the past 3 albums and I've no doubt this one will be exactly the same.

@MikyWrita Spirit's pretty good, Slania had its moments, the last album wasn't very good and this one seems to be looking worse. It's just frustrating to me for a band with talent to throw it away with easy to digest nonsense. But I agree, listen to whatever you like. I've no issue with anyone that likes this.

@Kilgorin10 Understandably you may not like it, but you should probably listen to the whole thing before dismissing it.

There is actually a mix of the classic Eluveitie aggression, their beautiful folk melodies and there's a couple of more easily digestible songs. And following the lore and history that it's concerning is awesome.

There's also the interesting directions Chrigel tried to take his voice... on a song called The Seige he basically goes into a death fry - which is superb.
