  • 9 years old? I've never seen a male with a pink cere before.

  • Its an exception for parakeets, all Recessive Pied Parakeet males have pink ceres and both sexes have all black iris (kind of a Barney Rubble looking eye). Frosty lived to be 13 years old. He was by far the dearest pet we ever raised.

  • You say he is 12 years old now. What do you feed him?

  • He ate everything we ate (except for stuff he's not supposed to eat, onions avocado etc..) he loved any kind of pasta, (Ramen his favorite) rice, We don't know how but at about 5, he developed a tolerance to lactose and ate ice cream alot.. Can't lsit everything he ate because the ate everything we did. I think he owes alot of his longevity to getting lots of exercise, he had the run of the house. Also check "Budgies flying in warehouse" Parakeets need to fly.

  • Hi Curtis! I just stopped by to listen to Frosty babble again - So cute and So Funny!!!

love, Ollie - in Jesus' Name

  • At 32 it sounds like it's saying my name which is Krissy. Haha XD cute bird.

  • Thanks 4 Sharing. My Keet is in the room with me now and talking away.

  • how old is your bird on that video?

  • Frosty was about 9 years old in the video. He's still alive, he's now about 12 years old.

  • cool thanks for the answer but how comes your bird doesnt have white iris ?

  • About the black iris in Frosty's eyes, It's because he is a "recessive peid" Most Budgies iris will turn white in less than a year, Recessive peid Budgies will have a black on black eye always. I call it Barney Rubble eyes.

  • 10 out of 10 on the cuteness scale! :-)

  • My keets were eating when I was watching this. And I put the volume on very low so they wont stop eating and start chirping as well, but yet they stopped eating and looked at me. xD

Frosty is very cute! And her chirps are adorable!

  • Funny, fun budgie!

  • That's adorable! =D

  • U said you've had lots of parakeets mine just died what was it like when your first one died?this would really help me.

  • Did you loose Carolina? I'm sorry to hear that. Loosing a bird is a heart breaking experience. I lost my bird Kay Tee last month at the age of 5, all of my birds will always be remembered, I have a framed photo with a tail feather that I always look at, It's my little shrine for my birds. All you can do is know that you gave your bird a happy life by giving it all the love and attention you could. Someday you'll know when the time is right, you should get another bird :)

  • I am trying to teach my budgie how to speak but i cant seem to do it. Does anybody know any tricks i could use? Thxs

  • Loved watching your budgie, reminds me of mine I lost 10 years ago, he had kidney tumor. Alot of people do not realize that they are one of the top talking birds in the parrot family! I remember one day hearing the lil guy repeat an entire argument my husband and I had a few days prior! It was absolutely hillarious! Fyvish had the same coloring as frosty with just a tad more blue on his underside. Very neat video thanks for sharing it!

  • Will u plz look at my vidios they are about my budgie, Carolina

  • this bird watches too much tv

  • I'm amazed he kept a pink cere for all his life. You'd think it would at least change to a touch of blue or at least purple.

  • Male Harliqin and certian pieds of budgies retain the pink cere for life. I have Xrays of Frosty's "male parts". An exceptio to the rule...

  • It looks like a grey spot below his right eye (not right below but a little in front of). It's Purple, when there is a light on his face the purple shows up much better. I'm surprised falsebaroness caught it....

  • I had a budgie that was lutino (yellow) with a touch of blue on the back and he had a purple "beauty mark" as well. Once I saw it on Frosty it made me think of him.

  • Budgies sure can have a lot of character for thier size, I often remember Budgies that I had in the past when I see like birds, I sure do miss them. What was your Budgies name and what was he like?

  • Charlie (1995-2001) was a lutino (yellow) with an aqua butt. He learned many words and freely flew from one room to the other. He was very bright - knew everyone's name (even the dog we had) and understood what many words ment, as well. For instance he would say "Come on! Come on" if he wanted someone to see him. He would also call me a "Bad bird" for not letting him out of the cage quick enough.

  • That's so cool! How did you get him to understand who had which name?

  • He actually figured it out himself what with my parents and sisters calling each other for keys, dates for work + school, etc. It took him almost two years to fully know who was who.

  • I watched the video several times and don't see a purple feather dark grey yes but where would you say its at on his head that your seeing this? oh sweet little white birdie there I like " he's too fat" ha ha

  • 11 years?! What's your secret?

  • Luck of the draw and healthy foods, we've also had parakeets that we lost at 6 and 7 years of age. Parakeets that have a seed only diet usualy don't live much longer than 6 or seven they need veggies and carbs and other stuff to keep a balanced diet.

  • We almost lost Frosty at 10 years of age, he had a tumor (common in parakeets) a new Lupron treatment saved his life. It's like it never happened. I'm predicting he's going to be around for about 4 more years. It's going to be a sad day when we lose this little squak box. :^(

  • Lupron treatment, hm? Never knew something like that exsisted to treat tumours in birds. Yeah, budgies definately live longer and hapier lives with assorted foods and flying time. The bird I had for 6 1/2 years loved Spinach, bananas and whole grain breads.

  • Yup , Luppron is kind of an experimental "people" drug that my avian vet is trying on birds. Miraculous results on Frosty but our other bird Kaytee that also has a tumor isn't responing at all to Lupron. Kaytee (only 5yrs old) is loosing his battle and will probably not make it through this Christmas....

  • I'm so sorry to hear that... FROM THE WAY Frosty is, I am assured that your Kaytee had a fulfilling life.

  • He's been with us for over 11 years, and we never noticed it. We spend a LOT of time with him , I can't believe we didn't see it! Thanks :^)

  • You never know. The Guinness record for the longest living budgie was one in England that lived 29 years and 1 month.

  • That's awesome. Frosty is pretty cute. I notice he has a single purple feather on the side of his face. Almost like a little beauty mark!
