  • The Quartz lock is always ON, the center click or "O" is the dead on 33 1/3 speed, that's all. Technics Quartz is ON at ALL times. Plus or minus any pitch! People always get this wrong, other makers and copiers do NOT have full time Quartz, only Technics! If your going to talk about this stuff to "Teach" people, get it right First.

  • GET A PAIR OF TT500 NUMARKS AND YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ALL THAT SHIT.

  • hello, with the needle on the record if i tap the technic case it makes a warbly sound, the vibration causing the needle to move....is there anyway to lessen this?

    thanks

  • @crimbob69 1210's & 1200's are exactly the same, besides one being black & one being silver.

I'm pretty sure there is a way of removing the "click" on them

  • masteer ellaskins thanks for the great videos have learned a lot, i was wondering if you could maybe help me, youll see i have tehcnics SL1200mk2, the pitch ranger i guess its a little weird when the pitch is in 0 -greenlighT- and i move the pitch a bit it makes a huge speed change like from 125, being the tempo of the production, to 120 dont have a clue why, i decided to open and touch the pitch range -blue thing haa... and now when i play in 33rpm its even more slower and have to play45rpm?wtf

  • you are supposed to calibrate the speed accordingly with the little dots around the edge of the plater. That way, +3.3, +6, etc, will always be dead on - when the dots look like they don't move its at the right speed.

I wouldn't advise just messing around with this, it is for calibrating!

  • Can you help with a platter cogging problem. it is intermittent but the speed changes on my deck like it is dragging. My light on the on/off button dims when this happens.

  • Whats the point of doing this? not trying to be a smart ass, but why?

  • too make the recoard go round faster.

  • @Eldeeyay22 because you mite want to be able to play your records faster.

I know i have wanted to in the past :)

  • I have a SL-1210 Mk5, and I want to know how get 78 rpm if it is possible. I have some 78 rpm discs and with an Ortofon 78 pick-up it is possible to play these old shellacs, but I have not 78 rpm speed like others cheapest turntables.

  • can ya do this on the sl1210 mk5? i cant seem to find the blue dail!

  • @GaryDonk08 Yeah I was wondering the same. I've just tried it and it's silver on the MK5. I'm just wondering if it's also -3% and +12% on the MK5, you know anything more about it?

  • boring... now what u can do is pitch to zero again ha ha

  • 1200 or 1210 ? which one - overall ?

  • take of the cap please..

  • Doing this will give you a slight deadzone, just above and below 45/33.You shouldnt really uncalibrate the deck, ppl pay me to put it back lol.If you know theres a deadzone you could just use pitches above or below it.But stil would not recommend.

  • No. When the turntable is on the pitch lock (green light) the pitch slider has no control over the deck speed. There's circutry to bypass the pitch slider. That's what the Quartz Pitch lock is and why the turntables are so expensive.

  • pana cortate las uñas

  • ass hell thats right

  • Hello i have a problem, when i turn the blue dial right it has no affect on the speed of my 1210's mk2 decks, ive tried turning it to various points but the speed does not alter, i was careful not to break the dial so i dint think its that, the turntable just isnt responding to the blue dial alterations - PLEASE HELP ME, im desparate for +12 speed or @least +10 - ANY IDEAS OR FIXES - ANYONE?? Ill be eternally grateful if anyone knows wot to do or fix?

  • why the fuck would you want to make it faster?

  • You are right. No one can dance at those speeds anyways. It would be to hard to mix also.

  • can you really turn the entire turntable on or of by just turning the red light dial?

  • umm. i was wondering if you can tell me where you can buy this equipment

  • u r joking

  • pound shop

  • true true. someone commented earlier askinghim how to speed up a vestax.

  • hey i love the tutorials man i just got a technic sl1200 mk2 they are better then any turntable thanks alot for the tutorials

  • puta que pariu, o cara acha que descobriu o mundo... Ele só esqueceu de falar que quanto maior a variação do pitch, menos precisão ele tem.

  • you're not taking any responsibility?!?

darn i was about to crash my technics and blame you!

    lol

  • THX, but I wound't do it because for me it's too dangerous!

  • I bought some brand new Mk5's and tweaked them withing days of buying, its perfectly safe and as long as you dont tweak them too much you wont lose the accuracey of the pitch.

Mine are roughly +/-10% now and it makes all the difference.

  • awesome, this is great advice, but how do you make the motor reverse play on an Technic sl1200 mk-2????

  • note the deck you did this on is battered and not well looked after. only a muppet would pitch there decks up. i had a mate wh0o did it and when he realised it was a bad idea he treid to reverse it. he couldnt get them right again.

  • If you watch the video on anti-skating he mentions this table is 20+ years old.

  • Good video mate, thanks. I probably would never had the bottle to the cover of mine before!

  • dont do this it never bes the same again

  • Did a video on this over a year ago now (see my profile) but I guess I'm not the DJ Tutor so won't get anywhere near as many views...lol...oh well

  • which pot controls the brake?

  • cooool i can get it up to +/- 10

thanks! greetings from agua dulce veracruz mexico!

    DJ DINKY

  • How can i increase the speed of my Transit without taking it to the garage (where they will rip me off) in a safe and environmentally friendly way? :)

  • Bear in mind that this puts the "slider zero" in a different place to the "crystal zero", so the pitch will INCREASE when going from the zero point to "just below zero".

  • Can you get it up to +/- 10?

  • You have to be carefull when doing this, i wouldnt advise doing it by a huge amount as it can cause damage to the motor, Also, put a pencil mark on the point in which the tab was originally positioned incase something goes wrong..

P.S.. You can adjust the brake speed in the same way too, in fact, you can adjust it so that when you press the stop button the deck will actually go backwards, but like i said, id be carefull with the amount of adjustment you make..

  • hope you teach us on the vestax turntables pdx-2000 . =)

  • the vestax allready has +/-50 why would you need more thanthat?

  • thats sweet.

  • do you use the same turntable when you take one apart if you do the poor thing has spent as much time apart as it has in one piece still a good vid J.

  • if you speed up the deck ..does that make the pitch more sensitive to adjustment at each increment ?

( I mean less movement of the pitch control would be required)

    thanks.

  • yes, basicaly less movement is needed to speed the turntable up more. j

  • oh I am so going to do this

  • So, if you are at 0%, you are normal speed, but it goes to like 12%/-12%..?

  • I'm kind of wondering the same thing. Is 0% still 0%??

I've known about this for years but have always been afraid of messing up me 1210's.

  • question - does this work with 1210s

  • yes it will mwork with the 1210

  • @ellaskins

The 1200 and the 1210 only difference is 1200 is silver and 1210 is black - so they are the same thing - as ellaskins states at at the start of the video he is only showing how to do this and if you choose to do so is up to you - I have used this method to calibrate a set of decks using the big O at 0% and +6 on the little o on the top of the platter - if you choose to play it faster then it was designed too is up to you

  • @craigk2000 the 1210 is the same, only it is black. 1200's are silver, 1210 is black.

    No other difference

  • dude you need to get a proper screw driver

  • Good vid Johnathan, but how do I speed my cdj up? Could you do a video on that to? :P lol

    5 stars!

  • wow. do i remember me mentioning that in australia they don't spin at the right speed? +8% is actually colser to +6.5% or so. wow wow i might try this.... maybe. but this would definitely fix that problem! thanx.

  • interested to know how did you find out that the decks spin closer to +6.5 instead of +8 ?

    thanks.

  • Hope milan answers... I remember he having video about that when he noticed that the pitch is not totally accurate with the scale. But was not able to find it now.

  • I do too...i presume he just measured the speed using two tracks the same and mixing at say +2 and seeing what happened , maybe

  • What in general is that nob thingy u were turning?

  • to bassking559, this will set the speed of the pitch, thats basicaly it.

     j

  • @ellaskins

I've not seen it close up, but in technical terms I think it's a variable resistor, good to keep in mind :)

  • @MaxRavelle I think you might be right Max - it is just a little blue twist switch to turn with a phillips screwdriver - When at 2:35 ellaskins puts the platter back on I do not put the plastic cover with 5 screws back on - you can adjust that switch through the two holes in the platter - JUST MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE DECK BETWEEN ADJUSTMENTS - SERIOUSLEY THE BEST YOU WILL COME OUT WITH IS A SHORTED- OUT TURNTABLE - the whole process will take less then 10 min - DONT GAMBLE WITH YOUR LIFE

  • Cool, Mod.. Lol--Great Vid
