But you've kinda hit the nail on the head, they are different machines for different regions.

When you say 'Our' I take it you mean the USA and UK, but these trucks are Swiss, for use primarily in the tight and twisty Alps.

There's lots of comments here of "such and such vehicle can do that", but these vehicles were designed to be driven by teenagers on National Service on anything from River Beds to Autobahns.

@bokxybabee Indeed, origionally they were soft skinned Humvee derived from High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, however, lately the US troops have been adding arour in the field, now causing stability problems, with regular deaths from roll-over accidents. Heads you loose, tails you loose. . . . .

GB's had the same issues with Landrovers, so those are being phased out too.
