Because he has the torque to launch in second so he doesnt have to go through the 1st-2nd gear change he just has to throw it into 3rd and then back down to 2nd when he gets to the clipping point. Less work for the driver.

Actually you know it doesnt always involve the horsepower the motor puts out, it also involves the driver that can handle that vette because i would think its alittle more challenging to swing that ZO6 around, unlike a 240sx or a RX-7. Thats why i like the Tanaka Racing Corvette ZO6 formula drift car because it puts a challenge torward the winning circle.

not sure about that either... heavy cars may really put the driver into trouble if he/she messes up, but they are more stable! A 700hp fd3s is definitely going to be scarier and harder to handle than a 700hp, much heavier vette or viper ! But who cares anyway :)
