@truth14ful I don't remember exactly. I think it was about 30 min per frame, and the original movie had about 10000 frames (the online version is accelerated two times). So it is about 5000 CPU hours, but I used four PCs in parallel (2005 PCs with Xeon processors, if I remember well). This gives about 50 days.
Wonderful. Any book/references you would recommend for introducing into that kind of procedural map generations plus effects? Also was very interesting the trees LOD part. The low LOD circles are billboards with a circle alpha texture?

@MachineFight My brother's a geophysicist, I just gave him the idea of doing his masters project on weather patterns in O'Niell cylinders.
