Thanks for the tip... about four or five years back I did a personal remix of AC/DC Back in Black... filtered off everything above about ~200hz then dropped that signal an octave and added it back in under the original. I had to lowpass the dropped signal 6db/octave to get it to sound right... didn't overdo it - just enough to give more grip. Rock classics had no bass and this filled out the sound. It didn't really sound 'different' than the original - but it was bigger - it slammed harder...
@mikechav haha.. So would I. I can't find them. Of all the roughs and boots I've lost, I only really miss two. Those files and a bootleg of Stephane Wrembel with Mathias Bubla & Jared Engel doing a crossover experiment where they were playing Django Reinhart tunes with a late 60's jazz sensibility but occasionally Stephane would kick in pedal and echo effects and it sounded like he was harmonizing with himself over Indian Ragas. Describing it somehow doesn't do it justice. It was jaw dropping.
Hey, I was wondering when mixing vocals do you add your reverb, delays, compressor and other effects first before you add eq or eq the vocals then add your other effects?
@logixish you can do it in logic but you might have phasing issues. Logics mixer often doesn't make sense to me. I like creating in logic but my mixes always come out better in PT
When you play two of the same track at once surely you get phasing..So you have to cut the frequencies from one as you add them to the other right ? So what is the point apart from compressing different frequencies..?
@balderic0 If you duplicate the same track and have the exact same plugin chain there will be no phasing. As long as the two tracks are sample accurate then it works much like an analog mixer. Apple click the level window on the protools mixing strip to the the delay in samples.
Fantastic tips! I'm using paralell compression now on all my vocals because of this vid...and it totally works and HELPS them sound that much more pro!
Thanks a ton, Mike!
Will you ever be doing a vid on doing your own fast 'Mastering'?
I'd love to hear WAY more of your techniques! Thanks again.

I get confused with this way and with the setting up of a cranked compressor on a buss in my DAW. I have Logic 9. Thanks

Thanks for your ideas Mike.
I also am learning about reverb...
...having many reverbs to space each sound
but how to get a good sound and space out of stock reverbs?
Which digital reverbs could we use and not break the bank?
Cheers T
