There is no year zero. The first millennium was January 1, 1-December 31, 1000. The second millennium was January 1, 1001-December 31, 2000.

This is part 2 of the whole fireworks display, please take a look at part on and you will see Big Ben showing 12 midnight. Most of the footage on YouTube is from the TV but this was taken by me after a few glasses of champagne, so its not as good but it shows the display from a different angle.
