i am a pilot and fly the cirrus, the plane is totaled when the chute is deployed due to the stresses on the airframe. Also the landing gear and seats are designed to crush on impact landing, which furthermore destroys the plane. all main structural components and somehow damaged. so basically there is no sense to fix it if you deploy the chute because you destroy too much.
Very cool...the SR22 is an amazing piece of aircraft, but: is it true that, if you deploy the chute in a real-life emergency situation that the plane is ruined (no longer usable)? Not a big deal obviously, since you can't put a price on the lives that might be saved...I was just wondering.....thanks!!
@sdmascital I think the plane may survive the parachute deplyment depending on the g-forces of the parachute distorts the fuselage. But also the ground landing is a problem.. I would consider you sending a mail to Cirrus and asking for this ! And if you do, post the answer here? :D
@kjartan95 You would be lucky to have a aircraft that wasn't totalled. When the straps burst out the rip through the outer layer of the aircraft and when the parachute deploys it takes a 5 foot chunk of fibreglass from the rear cockpit with it.

To all the haters out here, why is that the FAA has certified FSX as a training aid?
I fly real planes and I use FSX as additional training without the expense of Avgas.
There is nothing like getting in a real plane and flying, but keeping your skills sharp on a simulator is not a bad idea at all. ... hey, it's fun too.
@aleupalex Dude. As a pilot, I can assure you that pilots don't play around with PC simulators. What is used for an instrument rating is a 100% scale and exact representation of the aircraft.
There is NO substitute for flying a real plane. MS Simulator does not make you a real pilot.
@TheMiseryGuts I wasnt trying to say that MFS makes you a real pilot. But that many pilots use them as refreshers and navigation. I have had other comments of real pilots criticizing my videos of making serious mistakes in Flight Simulator!!! How does that make you feel?!! Check my recent King Air post as proof
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Can you fuck, if you could fly a real one you would have posted a film of that, rather than a flightsim-piss-about film. You probably took a trial flight, theres a difference.
Do you people really have nothing better to do than film yourselves playing some POS flight sim, and post it on youtube?!?! Get a life you stupid douche bags!!
You can say so, but it is MUCH BETTER THAN FUCKING COMPLAINING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES HOBBY'S AND YOU HAVE TO GET A LIFE INSTEAD OF GOING AROUND AND WRITING SHIT!
These sims are the equivalent of Guitar Hero to a real guitar. I flew RC for 10 years before becoming a real pilot and learned that the RC stuff is FAR from the real thing. You can't shrink a plane by 66% and cut it's weight by 999/1000s and expect the same thing.
RC is fun, but it is just a toy. The RC guys who think they are real pilots crack me up. Get out there and try to land a Cessna sometime. Very humbling.
Thanks. Just had a seizure.

Ok, thanks for the info. Too bad it will be totaled, but it saves lives : )

The plane may survive the crash depending on the conditions.... but the landing struts and undercarriage will be ruined
taggerungkid 1 year ago
@taggerungkid You can always get another plane but you cant replace your family and friends, thanks to the BRS 'chute' 230+ lives have been saved.

it shakes because the camera view is really close to the plane and of framerate

just might be helpful to say "animated cirrus sr22 parachute test" so people looking for video of the real thing don't waste their time.

@RandallParr he says flightsimulator X. that basically says "animated", it's a computer flight simulator which anyone can buy!

@cvogel4 what do you think of the realism in FSX, how does it compare to real life interms of aircraft dynamics, feel?
thanks
bigtwit 1 year ago
@bigtwit it all depends on the plane you fly like a 172 its pretty good but i think they are pretty real for a sim on your computer.
